Yet you all expect Rodgers or Burrow from him who both are doing worse. No one will ever expect Rodgers/Burrow from Hurts. But people do expect to see development
September 11, 20223 yr Aaron Rodgers has a $1,165,000 base salary in 2023 and one of his best friends is an Eagles fan...

I'm having a hard enough time watching the Vikings and JJ. And that's while the Eagles got a very nice performance from Brown today. Of course... Brown's 10 rec. 155 yards... is being topped by JJ's 8 rec. 164 yards and 2 TDs. I couldn't stomach watching Herbert. Granted, the Eagles never had a shot at Herbert, but he's what I want at QB here. Imagine what he'd do with this group of targets and this OL.

The OL struggled to pick up the blitz for much of the day, and while it would be nice to see him sit in the pocket and pick the blitz apart (and to be honest, the Lions blitzed because they didn’t respect Hurts), but he made the Lions pay countless times with his legs. I thought he showed improvement throwing over the middle. He hit Brown on a deep crosser (I believe) and he was a broken tackle away from a huge gain. That’s Brown’s bread and butter. Hes got a long way to go, but I don’t think he deserves all the negativity. Save it for the defense. I was interested to see how much Hurts actually improved, away from the TC spin and it was nowhere near as much as I hoped. Has he got worse? No. Has he stayed at the same level as last year? He's better. Throwing the ball away was great. I'd argue that if he keeps on the same trajectory, the overall net improvement won't take the team further in the playoffs even with AJ Brown at WR. The OL could have been better, but Hurts first instinct is still to bail; that won't pass muster with better opponents who will game plan around it. It is only game 1, so in theory its nothing more than shaking rust down against a poor opponent and hoping to get a W. But we should expect more from Hurts; hanging in the pocket to view the field, making multiple reads before running. taking care of his body in conttact etc. That is the QB type that you pay the big bucks too. Siri is doing what a good HC should do, but a Matt Ryan in this O would show different results.

Nah these weeks dont exist in a vacuum browns performance was consistent with his track record. Sadly so was Hurts…thats the issue. can someone point us to anything he did better or some skill he showed that was improved over last year?

I saw no difference in his passing before or after. I am surprised he wasn't flagged by the independent observer though after that hit.

Obviously the one to Brown and then the floater over the d linemen to Goedert. Was a nice touch pass. Still couldn't pickup the blitzes, still didn't go through his progressions

And he might have been concussed. He wasn't checked during the game. And I doubt he'll go through the protocol now.

They scored 31, didn't turn it over, ran, threw. Jesus. Save it for a week where he does struggle.

You’re saying "good game” purely results driven. That’s fine. Others are talking about "good game” in terms of what he showed as a passer and improvements in terms of becoming that QB of the future. Mediocre QBs can have good games and play well. RG3 had a great season. Kase Keenum took the Vikings to the NFCCG. You’re focusing on the outcome of today’s game. Today’s game is meaningless to me. QB runs don’t give me any sense of hope, even if they get a first down or a TD.
