Interesting note. Seems like a bit of an extreme reaction like everyone else. Basically he's saying in game 1 something worked but they didn't do it enough.

He is the key cog to make the defense work.

I understand he is a rookie. He may not play the majority of the snaps yet. And he will have some reps that he shows he is a rookie.

But, he is like the key that makes the engine go. Whatever percentage he got, it should be higher. And certainly, they should be smart about the situation when considering if they should take him out or not.

I get that it’s not sustainable because you say so. Otherwise, I believe you lack credibility. Big hits? Don’t recall many, if any. Well, there was that cheap shot.

In simplest terms, the team started badly, Hurts passing being part of it. However, he held it together and was effective, even when he couldn’t complete a pass. It’s a measure of a player’s quality that he can be effective even when things are going badly.

I am in no way a Hurts apologist but I thought he played very well.

The context is we kept having to spend first round picks on wide receivers because we kept getting it wrong

That's a neat trick. Can I take out the wrong answers on my college tests so I can boost my percentage up?

The bar is so low for Hurts that beating a 3 win team while running 17 times, noodle arming some throws and failing to read the field is considered playing "very well".
