Edwards looked bad in coverage. I think part of the issue was Gannon did nothing to hurry throws.

The defense allowed 5 TDs on 5 Lions trips down the field.  Not sure the Lions even needed to line up for a FG all day.  The pick-six was the only bright spot.  One sack all day against a stationary QB.

The run defense was just bad.  Got gashed by Swift most of the day.

On offense the Eagles ran for more than 200 yards; that’s what they did last year and it was pretty easy again today.  AJ Brown was the WR1 as advertised today; 10 catches on 13 targets.

Very lacklustre effort from Hurts.  A pedestrian 18-for-32 and again running far, far too much.  17 carries has to make people wonder if we have a QB, or a RB who throws.  He was not very good at all in the 4th quarter, and nearly allowed DET to come back and steal the game late.

I thought Hurts played well enough. He had some errant throws but avoided turnovers and made enough good throws to win. The offense was about what I would expect on a decent day.  
 

The defense was just abysmal.  Gannon plays afraid.

Actually he did not. The Lions offense outscored our offense.

Fortunately, that’s not how games work. In any event if every time the Eagles score 31 pts on offense the defense gives up 5 tds it’s going to be a long season.

regardless of blame shifting, the statement was that Hurts made enough throws to win. That was determined to be incorrect. His offense scored less than the other offense.

he has always missed a lot of throws, but its been dressed up by an abundance of playmakers making enough plays for him. Now, he only has 1 WR left. Theres not enough left to make him look good.

I was hoping to see some growth from Hurts today compared to last season in the passing game. Maybe a few plays that would make me think "Okay, yeah that’s a throw or a read that 2021 Hurts wouldn’t be able to do.” But I didn’t learn anything new from him today. He seems like the same guy from last year. A very dynamic runner who can evade, escape, and run for yards, still bails on a clean pocket, and doesn’t progress through his reads. I’m not saying he played poorly today, but it seems like he’s still his 2021 version. And all of us know from last season that isn’t enough. Especially against better competition.

This is what happens when you overpay mediocrity at QB.

And Dak only counts $19M against the cap this year.  Next year he costs $49M.
