This isolates the other DT in what is commonly in a 3- tech alignment, one-on- one with the G. This alignment goes back to the 70s and Bud Carson’s Steel Curtain. Dwight White lined up like that, isolating "Mean” Joe Green against the RG. Hargrove’s alignment isolates Cox against the RG. Basically three guys in run support got blocked and the fourth whiffed. If he's attacking the C, he didn't do much to keep him from getting to the 2nd level. If he's filling the correct gap he still should be aware of a likely trap block coming to him. It's a good play design that takes advantage of a penetrating DT.

And no, we still do not want to see that every week but it did work in our favor yesterday. It is crazy to have 8 designed runs with your QB in the NFL. You are just begging for him to get hurt.
September 12, 20223 yr Teams will continue to blitz Hurts until he can consistently make them pay for it. Why is the OL getting confused by the blitz? Is Kelce or Hurts the one calling protections?
September 12, 20223 yr 40 minutes ago, Ace Nova said: Because Hurts is a mobile QB. Because Hurts is a limited passer... but a plus runner. Mahomes is a mobile QB. He had 3 rushes... I think at least one was a kneel down.

Maybe that's not something they're all that concerned about. Plausible that a coach wouldn't be as preoccupied with an injury to a player if said player wasn't someone that was hand-picked by him and wasn't the type of player the coach is married to philosophically.

Jalen didnt read the defense, we did our best and we didnt even know if he'd be in the pocket when he was supposed to, so we did our best Or, our RBs didn't recognize their blocking assignments or Kelce is telling the truth or Detroit out coached the Eagles coaches. There are more than 1 flaws on this team and even with his many weaknesses, Hurts was not the biggest one in game 1by a long shot.

I think the o-line at times did a poor job calling protections to pick up the pass rush.

They drew up a system/scheme to beat the lions and Hurts failed. Almost like a test to see if he could make presnap reads, make anticpation throws and have some pocket awareness. FAILED! He cares, just not as much as he would care if Hurts was actually good and could properly execute his ideal offense.

How sad is it, the Eagles who have been in the NFL since 1933, have been so pathetic at the WR position in all that time that NO ONE ever had more than 155 Yards in a single game? SMH. That can't be right. TO had 170 yds in one of the games before he got hurt in '04.

You are likely very correct. Hurts may be completely expendable in their minds. Use him and lose him. Which is another reason why trading for a first round pick from another team would be beneficial. They can try to win as much as they can without completely destroying their ability to draft a QB. We just need the Saints to suck! Saints seem to have Brady's number in TB though... Crazy to think they might find their way to 2-0 with the way they started out yesterday.

September 12, 20223 yr Joe Decamere was speculating earlier about the Cowboys trading for Foles. That would be some great drama to have. Wentz in Washington and Foles in Dallas. Eagles QB Factory would be supplying most of the division.
