The way I see it is one way or another Gannon is probably gone after this season.  Reddick will be around for at least a few years though.

Yet another move you can critique then.  Why sign a guy that the current coaching staff has no idea how to use?

Why draft Smith then trade for Brown when your QB can't make it past his 1st read?

Why draft a run stopping DT then not play him when you're getting gashed by the run?

Wears his own jersey to TC.  If that's his truck in the back, the odds of him doing any overlanding are about as good as the odds that Hurts doesn't run once next week.

I need to close my laptop.  If Howie did a great job of making the DL great then they wouldn't be scrambling trying to figure out how to replace Barnett.  If the DL was deep, the replacement would be in house and ready to roll.

“(GM) Howie (Roseman) and his staff have done a great job of making us deep at the O and D line,” said Sirianni, "so we have some good options there, we have a good rotation there.”

Crowd the guardrail, fall, get up and take selfies, sue.

Maybe Jalen Hurts can pen another letter.

I didn't realize Barnett is out for the year.  Hope he's OK but kinda excited at the same time.  Maybe some of the younger guys get more snaps, Tarron Jackson or using Milton Williams at DE.  Outside of Sweat the DL is old and needs some youth and energy.

That's the new normal.

Yknow how in baseball, it seems like it happens often that the ball gets hit to the questionable defender at the most important moment? Or you leave in your weak fielding left fielder (I'm looking at you Greg Luzinski) instead of making the normal defensive substitution (hey there Jerry Martin) and wouldn't you know it, the ball gets hit to your left fielder and he's unable to make the play? Well, that's what it often feels like in football. It's your weakest unit that suddenly gets hit with an injury. I believe the Cowboys know what I'm talking about with their quarterback situation.

I remember a month ago lamenting the lack of depth along the defensive line, particularly at end. I tried a make a point at the time but I don't feel like I articulated it very well. The gist was that last year at the same time, our defensive end unit felt deeper. We had Graham, Sweat, Barnett, Kerrigan, and Jackson. Five guys that we thought could play, though of course Jackson was a projection. So really it looked like we had four proven guys. It turned out that Graham got injured in the second game, and Kerrigan couldn't really play at all.

Flash forward to this year, and we're running back the same exact unit, minus Kerrigan. Granted, he couldn't play anyway. But it just felt like going into a season, you should at least have his replacement in house, his replacement being someone who had some stature at some point. Someone who could play.

With Barnett gone for the year, I'm not sure that a mixture of Haason Reddick, Milton Williams, Patrick Johnson, and Kyron Johnson is going to cut it. They're going to have to go out and get someone. The thing is, I truly believe this is something that should have been addressed months ago. It seemed obvious that we were going to be undermanned there.

You aren't wrong, and frankly, even with Barnett, they didn't have enough to cut it.  But... it is what it is.

Yes 2 unsportsmanlike penalties and it's an ejection. I remember the commentators mentioning he was ejected at the refs discretion though. I didn't know they could just do it at their discretion though

Why weren’t both penalties assessed?  The illegal hit personal foul was during the play.  The taking a retaliatory swing at Pascal, who had pushed him, and hitting the ref that had stepped in (beyond stupid by the player) was after the play. Aren’t those usually stacked?

At least we should have less penalties with Barnett out.

he does need replacing though. Any FAs about ?

Off the top of my head, I think the refs actually did a solid job (minus the Hockensen catch but I think that was mostly due to the call on the field). They mostly let them play. And if people want to gripe out not getting late hits called, Lions fans can gripe about a few missed intentional grounding and delay of game penalties.

That's what probably bothered me the most yesterday. It felt like the Eagles were constantly taking too long to the get the plays in, break the huddle, and get set. Almost every play, the clock was suddenly at five seconds and they were nowhere ready to snap the ball. It was maddening.

And of course there were a couple of times they snapped the ball after the clock expired and they got away with it.

Why watch the Eagles if you're going to be so miserable after a win?

I think the hype for this team's talent level got a little bit out of hand in the weeks leading up to the season.

I'm not miserable, just asking what I think are legit questions about moves that have been made.  We have serious questions about the DL and the pass rush that you could overlook because they won the game.  Our 1st round WR who they traded up for had 0 catches. I always look at the Eagles in an objective way.  I think every move they make should be made with a thought not only for this year but the following years as well.  I know circumstances change and opportunities come up that are unexpected.

I'd rather ask the questions I have instead of just sitting back and accepting everything they do as the right thing and think they are smart just because they are the Eagles and I'm an Eagles fan.

Agreed.

If you are gonna spend the 10th overall pick on a WR, and then have him not catch a pass on 4 targets, should have used that pick on someone who can get to the QB, like the guy who set the rookie record for QB sacks last year.

Just seems so forced and unaware. But lots of the whole social media thing does for me, from others too.

With that said, yeah, cringe is fair.  Just uncomfortable to watch.

Classic pre-season euphoria.  We hear the noise from the beat writers, we don't see the starters actually on the field... and so we allow ourselves to get excited against our better judgement.  And there's all the fluff pieces about how every move Howie made was perfect.  And then reality sets in.

One of them was declined, so they weren't both accepted, but the ref had discretion to eject the player in the situation.

And so many buy it hook, line and sinker.

Best to not watch... now if others would stop thrusting the nonsense into everyone's view, everyone's life would be better for it.
