Meh... this team should still get 9 or 10 wins.

Classic pre-season euphoria.  We hear the noise from the beat writers, we don't see the starters actually on the field... and so we allow ourselves to get excited against our better judgement.  And there's all the fluff pieces about how every move Howie made was perfect.  And then reality sets in.

I think Howie did a good job of scampering to plug up holes as the season neared.

On defense, we still have zero truly dangerous pass rushers, few merely passable pass rushers, little to show for the massive DL investment, one quality safety learning the defense that was curiously jettisoned on the cheap, one safety that isn't that good, one starting LB that isn't that good.  That's OK, I guess...not great.

And offense...well, the OL is still learning to pass protect, which is a bit of a fool's errand anyway when the QB doesn't use the pocket.  AJ Brown was the big upgrade, but the rest of the weapons are mainly ornamental.

I think crowning Howie for rebuilding the team was a bit premature.

To be fair, I kinda think Herbert now belongs in that top tier with Mahomes and Allen as part of the next crop of up and coming QBs that will dominate the rest of the league for the next several years.

I don’t disagree. My point is, it isn’t just one or two QBs who are in the top tier. And there certainly aren’t only a few who can... say.. make a second read, and like, throw the ball to multiple WRs. And like, not bail and run at the slightest bit of adversity.

Here's a hard hitting question no one's been asking...

When's this team gonna replace Corey Clement's handsomeness? Bunch of 6s and 7s on this football team.

One thing yesterday that was as many expected was how brutal the fox announcing crews were. Losing Buck and Aikman and not replacing them, an already thin broadcasting crew rotation got even thinner. They have major work to do, but they spent all that money on Brady.

I miss Buck and Aikman at Fox, but at least espn finally has someone of quality to call a game, it’s been forever.

Yeah, absolutely brutal. They just kept trying to push 3 narratives -- Detroit is loud, Aidan Hutchinson is a stud, and Jalen Hurts constantly bails out the Eagles offense.

I thought the Aidan Hutchinson one was particularly hilarious. They almost nutted when they saw a white DL make a play only to find out it was John Cominsky 🤣

That can't be right. TO had 170 yds in one of the games before he got hurt in '04.

Kevin Curtis...

No one is prettier than Jalen Hurts.

No one is looking at the RBs, unless your watching video of number 26. He was pretty good.

Hurts went to his second reads several times yesterday. Several times. Best to get off that line of criticism. He did bail from a secure pocket twice, that I counted, so there’s that. Several poor throws too. Four or five, by my count, but whether it’s a poor throw is to some degree subjective.

For a guy who wants to be all secretive for competitive reasons.  High School Harry sure does say a lot in his press conferences.  Hey guys, I’m assuming D Smith will get a lot more looks next week.

The most annoying part about Sunday wasn’t that Hurts keyed in solely on AJ Brown. It’s that, starting in the third quarter, they started to try to scheme the ball to Devonta on little stupid screens (that were blown up or thrown poorly) to try to keep him happy. But that’s so counterproductive. First of all, little screens aren’t what Devonta does best. It’s just them trying to save face and force him the ball to shut him up. Second, that will become predictable. It’s obvious if Devonta runs a real route, the ball won’t come to him. So once Brown has about 10 targets, look for Devonta to stay short and some little dinky pass will come his way.

You shouldn’t have to force-scheme your talented WRs open. The only reason they have to even talk about it is because the QB is incapable of spreading the ball around. It shouldn’t even be a discussion

Yeah, he had an outstanding game, so I’ve heard.

I feel it’s a matter of time before Devonta asks for a trade. And not so sure I blame him

RG3 is annoying. What happened to Moss?

You couldn’t possibly blame him. Him with a real.. I’m sorry.. passing QB would be fun to watch. And productive for him on the field and lucrative for his future. He’s being wasted here, albeit with our outstanding QB who makes second reads sometimes.

Someone in here accused people "hating on” Hurts yesterday of "having an agenda”.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and argue that anyone who sees yesterday’s version of this offense/QB play as viable for the future and prolonged NFL success as having an agenda of coddling our QB, whether out of homerism or some other brand of coddling. A bunch of running QBs fizzled over the last couple decades. One won the MVP a few years ago, and has declined since. Literally no QB or similar offensive system has worked like this for more than a year. It failed us last year and looks no different. What basis does anyone have that this WILL work? None. Yet it’s supposedly ridiculous to criticize it?

Talk about agendas..

It's sad. We finally have a truly gifted WR that we drafted and we're going to flush his career if we keep running RB1 out there beyond this season.

I thought so. Many, with agendas that deny even that possibility, do not.

He makes second reads sometimes though. And don’t forget total yards! Does it matter if those 90 yards come from Devonta or Hurts’ legs? The best offenses in the league rely on an average of 2 QB runs per drive. Did you see the KC/Buffalo playoff game last year? Those loser wasted time throwing the ball, when they could have been running it.

Gee. I guess we lost yesterday, because of our agendas. Will it work going forward? Perhaps not. But it did yesterday.

They booed the crap out of Wilson. Lol. Now the media will play fan police.

That truly gifted WR had 10 catches yesterday. Hang yourself on your own petard, you have.

Oh, my bad. You’re talking about Smith. Had a catch negated by penalty. Also a drop. Clearly his season is over.
