I hear ya, I ran out of patience with Hurts a long time ago. We far past due to see someone else get a chance to run this offense.

I mean.. I went into yesterday cautiously optimistic that I would see something of a leap from him. But it was the same old ish. He threw one ball kind of over the middle. More like the seam. But ok.

But when really smart, football-knowledgeable guys who have been watching NFL football their whole lives and have posted here with really good content for 20 years start going Helen Keller on me and are acting as though this garbage I watched is sustainable, it makes me question my own sanity.

We all know what a QB looks like. We all know what good and great QBs do and can do. And we all know what’s been tried over and over with limited success, only to ultimately fail. This isn’t anything new. It’s tried and true. I’m flabbergasted

Man they are really giving it to their former Super Bowl winning QB. Even we wouldn't boo Foles. 😆

Anyone who would boo Foles should get the chair

I picked the Broncos to finish last in the AFC West, but I do want them to be pretty good. The Broncos to me are one of those franchises where the NFL is more fun when they’re good. As opposed to some other teams where they have no fans and the stadiums atmosphere sucks. I’ve always liked Mile High. Not sure why, something about that stadium is just cool looking.

The only way I would consider it is if the nightmare scenario my cowboy fan wife said to me tonight. Nick in Dallas. 🤮

Really? That have a fantastic roster. They were only missing the QB. I think they might go to the SB.

Okay Geno might actually be better than Hurts

I’ll never boo Nick.

Nick Foles, a guy who won us a Super Bowl with his arm. Couldn’t run a lick. But after winning the Super Bowl, we still see him as a JAG, journeyman. We should move on.

But.. a guy who can’t throw and runs at any sign of anything, or without any signs of anything,. Let’s hitch our wagon to that type of JAG. This is real life, folks

Bronco’s are getting gashed

You state the obvious, but what is your point?  That Minshew should start? That the Birds should get one of the marquee QBs in the league for next game? A person can see what you see, agree with it, and still root for the team and a player in a different way than being bogged down in the negatives. I want the Birds to win. The "they did it wrong" or "it wasn't the best way" or "they won't win a SB this way" is irrelevant because this is the team for this year and the goal is to get the most out of this team, IMO.

But... that can’t be. How could that be? Has Geno even run for a first down yet? Does he make second reads sometimes?

It's nitpicky to dissect a victory and saying you're doing so with a long term look at it all while at the same time doing this over the first game in the season.  It's a long season and we have only seen 1/17th of it.  There's going to be a lot of working off rust/working out the kinks in this first month of the season since this team opted to not really do a preseason for it's starters.

These are questions I had before the season and I was vocal about it.  After week 1, they are still viable questions.

I'm actually having jealous thoughts of the Seattle QB situation right now. Never thought I'd say that post Wilson.

So, you don’t have savings account? Do you get your car’s oil changed?

I don’t understand your point. So, we know this style of play won’t take us where we need, so let’s just try to win some games to not win in the playoffs? Then why not start Minshew? To win maybe a couple extra regular season games? I don’t have time for that crap. If the team isn’t a legitimate contender, then take strides to make them one. We just accept mediocrity because.. it’s better than nothing.

Geno Smith slipping on a sneak. Poor Geno

Nope.

Has Hurts ever completed 7 passes in a row?

Bronco’s needed that

dont feel too bad. He has completed all 7 passes so far, and has thrown for a TD.

Has he ever averaged 12.7 yards per attempt? He ususally doesnt even throw it that far.

Kinda different situations.

Per rush attempt possibly.

Failing on a sneak is a turnover.

Yes.....

Wait, does practice count?

Not accepting mediocrity at all. Accepting reality. Draft the best QB in 2023, Yes! At this point in time, There are two choices at QB. A debate between Hurts and Minshew is interesting and germane. Other than those two options, do you expect the coaches to say that they have sub par talent and that everyone should expect a sub par performance and that winning doesn't matter? The basis of competitive sports is to compete to the best of one's ability. Yes, Hurts isn't very good and frankly, neither is Minshew. The draft focused more on D than I this year and hopefully next year, the O takes a step up.

I'm not trying to be argumentative.  I agree with your assessment of Hurts. I would just say that there are things that can be changed this season, like a new DC, and things that cannot, like getting a top tier QB. All in all, my opinion is that Gannon is a worse DC than Hurts a QB and I don't know why the board isn't blowing up about his inability to use the talent he has been given.

Hurts would have snuck that so hard. Throwing is so 80’s

Because Gannon and Hurts is the same thing. As long as we have Hurts at QB, we won’t win anything. Same with Gannon. Gannon will be gone again the end of the year at least. Some are saying that Hurts should not be. That’s the difference. As long as our offense is QB run oriented, does it even matter who the DC is? But if we’re just rolling the dice with Hurts, why not do the same with Gannon? Maybe he can develop. I mean, what top tier DCs are available? May as well win as many games as we can with who we got! No sense in criticism.
