Smith will be playing elsewhere as early as next year if this keeps up

Yup which is sad because he and brown could be an elite duo at WR but hurts never gets past his first read.

The whole Smith thing is interesting because I don't think he's necessarily upset in a diva-ish way like an Antonio Brown would be upset about not getting the ball in a selfish way. I think he's more wired in wanting to get targets because he want's to help the team. Not just run around and run block on 90% of the time.

True, but this is also a business and he is getting financially killed by putting up 0 catches in a game.

Isn't anymore then that. That's for sure

In all seriousness...I need to see a game from Hurts where he stays in the pocket or at least keeps his eyes downfield and wins with his arm.

Because if you're an opposing DC, you keep blitzing the hell outta him until he proves otherwise. Yes, he'll beat the blitz with his legs sometimes, but if he has to run even 10 times a game, he has no chance. He WILL get injured. And it won't take long. The only way to deal with the oncoming blitz will be for him to beat it with his arm. Or, letting our RBs and Oline wear down the defense.

You can see it coming a mile away. And RTK is pounding his chest now, but he'll be singing a different tune when Hurts is carted off the field before September ends.

You could see it with the Lions that they were getting annoyed with all the runs as the game went on. Then he took a cheap shot in the backfield and then another when he was sliding. If it keeps up at the rate it did, I would not be surprised at all if opposing teams will purposely (or even coached) to start taking head shots on opening drives. Especially some of these lower tier teams on the schedule. Why not try to take out the QB if it only costs you 15 in the beginning of the game?

Smith will definitely want out sooner rather than later. It is what it is.

Lol Iggles phan😉.

Apparently she grew up there, her parents still live there and when she does get to go home, since she's on the road all year she goes back to Philly.

Mahommes has a quick trigger and reads quickly (product of the Mike Leach Air Raid offense). Hurts doesn’t have either of those traits.

I keep getting told that Hurts can just learn to be like that as well

I don't think it's the diva thing either. It's definitely wanting targets to help the team. He likely knows he can make plays and wants to help. Especially when he's open for a big play and doesn't get targeted

Yea, I'm sure that's somewhere in his mind too.

Well according to the cowboy fan that's a 3peat!

If this season is anything like week 1, Smith will have to make up some of that money in the last 3 years of his deal. Hopefully from an actual qb next season

That's cute. Eagles had 3 in one season

Hurts is never going to be a pocket QB.  His game is what it is.  It's been like this for as long as he's playing football.

The Eagles have to decide if that's what they want to roll with or go in a different direction.

The Eagles are looking at being in a shootout with the Vikings on Monday as we don't appear to have anyway to deal with Jefferson.

Yes, we scored 31 points on offense Sunday, but it is different when you are playing catch up and can not just run the ball.

I will say it again, hindsight being 20/20, if you knew you were getting AJ Brown, and were going to run this type of offense, Micah Parsons would have a massive impact on this defense right now.

How many pressures a game do you think he would have for the Eagles defense?

I think Sirianni and steichen are going to run him into the ground this year and squeeze as much as they can out of him and see how far it takes them before getting an actual qb next year and getting some idiotic team give hurts some stupid contract to run around like a RB playing QB.

What was the name of the offense Miami ran with ronnie brown lining up without a QB taking the direct snap in the backfield and occasionally passing?

That's kind of what hurts does except he has a RB option next to him.

Coaches have been talking about a 2 QB offense for ages, not sure too many want a no QB offense...

More than the entire team combined had last Sunday in Detroit.

Yup I thought he was the best player in that draft, said so before the draft.

I liked Smith but didn't really like him with hurts 🤷‍♂️

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10040237-ranking-the-5-worst-defenses-in-the-nfl-entering-2022

2021: "The Lions ranked 31st in points allowed, 32nd in net passing yards allowed, 28th in rush yards allowed, 29th in third-down conversions allowed and 30th in sacks."

Let's give a huge shoutout to our MVP for beating this nasty Detroit defense.

The 2022 Lions defense isn’t the 2021 defense.

New starters: Hutchison, Board, Rodriguez, Okudah, Hughes, Elliott, kind of McNeill

So half their DL, 2/3rds their LBs, 2/3rds their CBs and half their Ss are new starters.

Only change on offense for the Eagles was Brown in, Reagor out and back ups Togiai and Pascal.

This team cannot win in a shoot out by running the ball. I wouldn't even consider the Lions game a shootout considering the Birds were up 31-14 in the 3rd and let Detroit crawl on back into the game.

As proven Sunday by the Eagles defense, you can add all the pieces you want, but until they start performing better than last year, they are still that defense.

yep, but 99% of this board wants more WR's, needs more WR's.

It's hysterical.

People laughed and yelled at me when i suggested Quez may not get 40 targets this year

And we all definitely laughed when you said Brown won't get 100 catches in two years, only needs 2.7 catches over the next 33 games to close the deal.
