The 2022 Lions defense isn’t the 2021 defense.

New starters: Hutchison, Board, Rodriguez, Okudah, Hughes, Elliott, kind of McNeill

So half their DL, 2/3rds their LBs, 2/3rds their CBs and half their Ss are new starters.

Only change on offense for the Eagles was Brown in, Reagor out and back ups Togiai and Pascal.

Who?

  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

  • Listen up blog.  Enough. These 2 ass clowns are suspended for 2 weeks.  They've both had warnings to quit the personal attacks.  There's a line between trash talk and just abusing other posters a

yep, but 99% of this board wants more WR's, needs more WR's.

It's hysterical.

People laughed and yelled at me when i suggested Quez may not get 40 targets this year

We have the WRs...now we need a qb. Which will come soon

As proven Sunday by the Eagles defense, you can add all the pieces you want, but until they start performing better than last year, they are still that defense.

Took the words right out of my mouth

What is you're idea offensive performance look like?

More balance form the play calling than we saw early on.  It's not sustainable for success for any offense and any QB to put that heavy of a burden on a QB where you only have two handoffs to your RBs called in the first 22 offensive plays.

And we all definitely laughed when you said Brown won't get 100 catches in two years, only needs 2.7 catches over the next 33 games to close the deal.

He'll probably get 100 this season

And then everyone rejoices when bacarty is suspended for a month.

Wouldnt trust Gannon to know what to do with a guy like Parsons.

Actually, there are two effective ways to defend a running QB such as Hurts.  The first was what Tampa Bay did in the WC game -- bring your safeties into the box on each side and have them cut down the QB as he attempts to escape from either side.  The second is simply to rush 4 guys who all stay in their lanes instead of going all-out for sacks, and force the QB to beat you with his arm with 7 players in coverage every snap -- one to spy Hurts to the right side of the field where he likes to run.

DET blitzed effectively in the 4th quarter to get two 3-and-outs from the Eagles offense, but they lost contain on Hurts several times through the first 3 quarters and let him escape through the middle.  They didn't do as good a job against him as other defenses will.

Hey, how about you just go to the local Whataburger and eat a greasy double bacon cheeseburger and talk to some Cowboy fans. It's clear you're not an Eagles fan. Fn Texan

I will say it again, hindsight being 20/20, if you knew you were getting AJ Brown, and were going to run this type of offense, Micah Parsons would have a massive impact on this defense right now.

Assuming Gannon uses him correctly, which I have my doubts.

I think Sirianni and steichen are going to run him into the ground this year and squeeze as much as they can out of him and see how far it takes them before getting an actual wb next year and getting some idiotic team give hurts some stupid contract to run around like a RB playing QB.

What was the name of the offense Miami ran with ronnie brown lining up without a QB taking the direct snap in the backfield and occasionally passing?

That's kind of what hurts does except he has a RB option next to him.

Coaches have been talking about a 2 QB offense for ages, not sure too many want a no QB offense...

Would be a Parson's Project

Like I said before, I knew 1 was gonna get no looks, and one was gonna get all the looks. I guessed the wrong guy.

basically, I knew were gonna have 1 really pissed of WR who should be looking to get out of here

Smith is definitely frustrated after week 1. If it's a theme all year then yeah, he'll be pissed. I don't blame the guy

Given that Brown is his BFF and got a $100 Million contract. It should have occurred to you that Brown would be the guy targeted early and often. I can get you not believing both Brown and Smith would get 100 catches, but Brown is the obvious guy to bank on getting to 100.

So if the Eagles called 35 runs, 35 passes, and scored 10 points with 200 yards gained you'd consider that success?

What if the coach called 35/35 but the QB checked out of 20 runs cause he cant read a defense and it ended up being 15/55 ratio?

No of course not scoring a lot wouldn't be considered a success. Not even sure what would make you think I meant that.  Then again you wrote a long rambling post yesterday about Hurts in reply to a post I made about Gannon so I'm not sure much of any logic is being performed in that brain of yours.

And we are talking two seasons, not 1.  Based on last year, Smith and Goedert would get 100 catches in two years, and Quez would get 86.

How many times did Mr. Selfish (Hurts) pull the ball away from his RB to run it himself?

The Saints tried that...and we crushed them. The only team to get away with that against us was SF, because they had the DL to match our OL. It's not a winning strategy against our OL unless you have an elite unit.

I thought they both would be targeted equally or one just a little less then the other. I know AJ is Hurts bf but he played with Smith in college... not to mention all last year. Chemistry is there. I'm a little surprised it was lopsided but again it's week 1

The whole Smith thing is interesting because I don't think he's necessarily upset in a diva-ish way like an Antonio Brown would be upset about not getting the ball in a selfish way. I think he's more wired in wanting to get targets because he want's to help the team. Not just run around and run block on 90% of the time.

That’s every wide receiver. Who the hell wants to just exercise in full pads for three hours?

Can't forget the 6er of Lone Star! Sounds like a nice little shindig you've suggested

That will end after this season is over

Hopefully, if the eagles bring back hurts after this year Im smiths agent I'm asking for a a trade.

Last year I was willing to give hurts the first 4 games before making any concrete statements or forming any  concrete opinions.

I'm not really interested in giving him 4 more games of his 3rd rookie season to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He looks exactly the same to me as he did last year, a one read then take off and run QB with a mediocre arm.

Difference is that one read is AJ brown instead of a rookie Smith.

I'm not encouraged by his performance against the lions, it was same ole same just asking for a first round exit against a playoff defense.

Hopefully the coaches and FO already realize this and are just getting the most they can out if hurts limited skill set until they have an actual QB.

Nothing against hurts he's a solid dude leader intangibles blah blah blah and so was Tebow who the broncos ditched after he actually won a playoff game because like hurts that skill set doesn't win in the NFL, works in college not the NFL.

Just like the first 6 games of the year last year its up to the coaching staff to call runs instead of nothing but read options.

I thought that made it really crazy. I’m not going to be the president of the Jalen Hurts fan club any time soon, but even I don’t think he’s bad enough to not get Brown 100 catches over two seasons.
