Ok let’s get back to football…

Who is the one player you think will take their game to the next level?

My vote is Goedert. I think with the WR core we got, he’s going to be getting a lot of targets, especially in the redzone. Hurts will be checking down to him often. I’m expecting him to clean up the drops.

There’s no one on the defense I’m really excited about. Sorry just can’t find myself to get excited about rookies

My heads thinks Goedert will take the next step.

My heart hopes it Hurts…

My gut is Miles Sanders may be set for a career year. It’s a contract year, reports sounded like he was looking good before the hamstring(?) issue. Hopefully it’s mostly precautionary. If he can stay healthy, he should pass the 1,000 yard mark on the ground and 0 tds last year had to be a fluke.

He's more of a big play RB than Hurts, but I think Hurts is better for those 5-6 yard downhill runs.

Tbh i actually think gesicki would be better on a team that actually utilizes him more. I had him last year in fantasy. There would be games where he was just beating the defense early in the game and then they wouldn’t throw to him for 2+ quarters even though the defense had no answer for him. He’d be open and they’d just go away from him. I actually think I talked about this on the blog last year. Idk what the dolphins are asking for but if i were a team like the broncos, chargers, Bucs and saints I’d be interested in him.

The problem is you have to find a team that needs a slot WR. That’s what he is.

The Broncos make some sense since they lost Patrick, who was slated to be their big slot.

This is progress I guess. The first step.

Gesicki was talking about about needing some preseason reps because he’s changing positions to actual tight end instead of a slot WR. He played something like 11 percent of his snaps in-line. He has absolutely no idea how to block.

Yeah that was the reason he didn’t get the snap counts people expected last year. My question is why didn’t the previous regime try to work with him to get him to be at least serviceable as a blocker. Feels like if some team gets him to that point then they are going to get a nice TE for themselves.

they have KJ Hamler. Not a big slot, but theyre solid in their top 3 with Sutton, Judy, and Hamler.

The emojis we have aren’t even used as whoever created them intended. The trophy isn’t a thank you but a great post. Confused face is more like "uhhh what….?” or to signify a dumb comment. The laughing face is everything in between.

The emojis are rather simple.  Like (also tends to mean agree), Thanks for posting that.  Confused by your post.  Sad.

Need anything else?  There are lots.  👎  :offtopic: 🤮  (in honor of @Veejer:peng: :groovy: :usa: :Eagle_smiley:  (what the troll group should use) :fishing:  :pizza::dope-slap::chair::furious:  etc.  These just require a response post.

 at some of the hand wringing and moral posturing in here. *GASP* there were some people trying to have fun on the unofficial message board of an NFL team in the off-season by messing around? Well I do declare, this is an abomination!

🤣🤣🤣

Or a team that believes they can teach him how to be just serviceable as a blocker. Ertz wasn’t very good at blocking when he got here. He was never good but he became at least serviceable with it. I think a team that believes it can get him to that level should take the chance with his upside.

The Dolphins might have the 2 fastest WRs in the NFL, both under 5'10".  They need a big, physical target...you'd think Gesicki would fit nicely.

So, is this serious, or trolling ??

While Lamar Jackson is obviously superior across the board to Hurts, would the Eagles pay him north of 45-48 million as a free agent ???

Everyone else knew running QBs aren't sustainable

Meanwhile Cards just gave that big contract to Murray lol

Would be hilarious if Ravens don't extend Lamar

Maybe they’re content with Hamler off his second ACL, but a small slot WR might not be the best pairing for significant snaps with Russell Wilson considering his difficulty throwing over the middle at his height.

I think that’s a big reason why they chose Patrick as the slot instead of Jeudy.

iirc we had the option of a +1/-1 system. Which very quickly became just a +1 system. Or, the emojis.

I would like to see them add emojis. I think its been asked/suggested numerous times but I cant remember what the issue is that prevents it from happening.

He has Ertz level physicality. My guess is their coach, who came from the niners?, wants some George Kittle physicality.

He’s not particularly physical. He’s tall though.

He can’t block worth crap. Makes it hard to play him out there every snap when teams know that. Frankly i question the last 4 years the dolphins had him knowing his size, speed and strength why he and they didn’t work on it to get him to just serviceable. Cause if they did he has the athleticism and size to be a pretty nice tight end in the league. Heck he’s played just 65% of the total snaps in 2020 and 2021 and yet averaged 742 yards and 4 tds.

What they really need is a QB with a big arm

Got it.  If you've got Steph Curry and Klay Thompson on the perimeter, could be devastating to have a strong 5 in the paint.

If Gisecki plays that soft, then teams will just throw a bunch of CB/S on the field with those weapons.  You want someone to bring the secondary in a bit.

All that matters is that his best WRs play primarily outside. He throws to outside WRs the overwhelming majority of the time. Quite a lot more compared with other NFL QBs.

He has had success with Doug Baldwin as his #1 and he was only 5'10''. Tyler Lockett is also only 5'10''

The size doesnt matter so much. You just have to put them where you know he likes to throw the ball.

A ton of speed, but very soft.

Then we've already won.

In all seriousness, I don't mind them spending some time in coverage.  The more time they spend dropping back into coverage, the easier it will be to confuse OLs with what is coming at them.

We all know it takes more than speed though.  Mychal Kendricks could run like a CB and turned his hips like a nose tackle.  All of these light edge rushers have the pure speed for coverage, but they still need to prove they won't be wandering around lost.

SAMs or in 3/4 the OLBs need to cover the TE or RB all the time. If all the SAM can do is rush the QB, we have already lost because it forces a S to play box on early downs.   Even on passing downs, it limits the ability to use ILBs or DBs in blitzes and thus limits the ability to disguise the defense.

Hamler could be a good vertical slot, for sure.

He is soft but i mean people said the same thing with ertz. Yet he was able to get better as a blocker and just be serviceable when out there. Gesicki still hasn’t gotten to serviceable. I feel like their previous coaching staff didn’t do a very good job anyway and some of this is on him for not understanding how much better he could be if he just became average/serviceable at it.
