Again, what are your concerns regarding Hurts' performance?

Are you saying that he, regardless of the other 10 guys on offense, needed to blow out the Lions?

We will see if that plan works against a top 20 defense

How about people just read Les Bowens article?

it has nothing to do with race. It has nothing to do with height. It doesn’t even have anything to with arm strength. It has everything to do with Hurts has a skill (running/athleticism) and he will have that skill until he doesn’t. And the way he won’t have that is by taking a physical beating every week. To preserve that and his career, he should develop more as a passer.

Some people think Hurts can do that. Some think he can’t. I think EVERYONE can agree that if he’s going to get a new contract, whether you want him to or not, he should not be running that much or take that much of a beating on a weekly basis.

I’m becoming more and more convinced of "can’t” as the games go by.

What plan?

Vikes are going to double AJ and mush rush so Hurts has no lanes to run.  Then he will have to find his second read.  Let’s see how he does.  The lights will be on.

On this day, September 14, 2022, I relinquish my crown as head EMB racist.

That's not quite how it works. It sounds like they are running an offensive scheme with 2 reads and a dump off on most pass plays. They are cutting down on what Hurts is expected to see.  Brown is not automatically the first read for Hurts. I think the Vikes will have to pick their poison, doubling  Brown gives Smith 1-1 coverage and also helps free up Goedert. Doubling also means blitzes are less likely as that would mean more 1-1 opportunities. If the OL can hold their own on the pass rush and run block  effectively, there will be room to run.

That's basically what every team does - QBs don't sit in the pocket and survey the field for 5 seconds on a regular basis, they are getting rid of the ball within 3 seconds or running for their life - now how many receivers can you check down to in 3 seconds?  Off the post snap read, you should have a sense of who is open, but they still have to beat their man or find the soft spot in the zone.

I was referring to comments that Sirianni was running a more 1 read scheme last year.

Jack Stoll knocking 2 defenders on their ass.

The amount of projection that goes on on this board is so laughable. Some of you could at least try to hide your motives. Hurts gets ridiculously critiqued by the same few people here for very obvious reasons and then when you call them out the projection and ''no politics'' nonsense starts getting thrown around. Utterly disgusting.

Some of these advanced stats are quacky. I don’t know how there’s a statistical world where Hurts completed 83% of his passes on Sunday if you watched the game.

I’ve recommended the NFL switch to a white ball, white goalposts, and white grass.  Just waiting on Goodell to respond.

Being critical of Hurts has nothing to do with politics. If it were Tim Tebow I’d be making the same complaints.

So apparently the "adjusted completion %” is based off of removing attempts for drops, spikes, throwaways, and balls batted down. I understand the first two, but removing attempts thus juicing % up for throwaways and balls batted down is stupid.

Calculate using only the balls the QB throws to his best friend, blame the best friend of 33% of the balls he doesn’t catch, and subtract the total amount of TD throws

A lot of these "advanced stats” aren’t even stats. It’s actual stats with added subjectivity or qualifiers to fit whatever their argument is.

This is such a weak argument, and trust me, you’re not doing the guy or anyone else for that matter any favors by coddling him calling for the race card anytime someone brings up a valid criticism. I’d be willing to bet 95% of the people who are constructively criticizing Hurts on his flaws are rooting for the guy. They want him to light it up and be the established franchise QB on this team for the next 10 years. But the fact is that he still has shortcomings that are valid in criticizing. The same way people ripped Wentz and Sanchez and Kolb and Bradford for all of their shortcomings.

So come up with a more valid, intelligent response and approach to constructive criticism than throwing the victim card out there.
