  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

Two touchdown win??? Love that confidence. I hope it's a breeze like that

It's a homer pick definitely.  However, here's the logic. Based on what I saw in the first half and the third quarter last Sunday, I don't see any reason why the Eagles Offense won't be efficient and productive.  But, the possibility does exist that what we saw in the fourth quarter is closer to reality.  Further, I believe the crowd noise in a road dome was definitely a factor (how they used Seumalo being evidence of that) that won't be working against them.

The Defense is where my prediction is skating on thin ice, but "that's my story, and I'm sticking with it!"

Serious question. If they did trade for Lamar, let’s say 2 firsts to be conservative, and paid him a ridiculous contract, would anyone be happy with that move?

I wouldn’t be thrilled. He is better than hurts. I just don’t think he holds up long term. He’s already gotten hurt. But i do think the eagles would definitely be in on him. I remember when we drafted hurts, one of the beat reporters said their source told them the eagles saw lamar and how he was being used by the ravens and saw it as a direction in which the NFL could be moving towards

Vikings might be the best team the Eagles play all season.

Nope

Not even close

That was my thought process. 6 games and only account for 8tds.....but at 10tds, it be really close to his average TDS a game last year so...

Which also wasn't good enough to beat good teams

That's the thing. Lamar is awesome, but paying 2 1sts + 40M/Y = no-go from me.

Paying that much for a QB who plays a style that I can't stand and I know has a limited shelf-life... both in money and picks would kill this team.   Adding Lamar at his age, at that number would sink this team.  His body won't be able to hold up... his effectiveness even when on the field will drop off.  Just a recipe for disaster.

Not telling me anything I don't know lol I have us between 8-10 until he develops QB skills or we go get someone with them

They scored 31 points and didn’t commit any turnovers. They ran out the final 4 minutes of the game to save the defense from blowing it.

What is your definition of functional if the Eagles offense fell short of that standard?

The first seven possessions of the game were functional ... as was the 10th possession.  They fit the definition of functional

The 8th and 9th possessions had a total of seven snaps (plus two punts) producing a total of 12 net yards and one delay of game penalty.  Those two possessions were not functional.

What's funny is I could see Howie being slick AF with that contract. Do 100 mill guarantee and the majority of it be the first two years so the contracts isn't worth much after those years and bail

I'm curious. If the Eagles get to the bye with a 6-0 record and are among the top five offenses in points scored and yards gained but Hurts only has about eight touchdown passes, are most Eagles fans still going to complain about the starting quarterback? "We'd be even MORE undefeated if we had someone other than Hurts!" Is that going to be the mantra?

For the comprehension impaired, I'm not suggesting that the Eagles will in fact win their next five games. I'm only offering a what-if.

It's less about the passing touchdowns and more about his progress as a passer. If he's throwing 300+ yards, going through reads, making throws he should be making, etc, but we're pounding the rock in the red zone I'd be pretty happy.

When he can do none of those things, run 17 times and complete less than 60% of his passes...that's the problem.

I respect the enthusiasm and reasoning. The offense needs to keep it close. We aren't made to chase 14 and the Vikings can do that with two plays better than most teams. That's where my fear is. I expect the offense to put up 24-27 range

Please don’t mention the Phillies right now. Lol I’m still angered about last night’s epic meltdown and fearful they are gonna blow this and miss the playoffs again.

They will.  It’s pretty obvious

He was just on the practice squad?  Bengals likely didn't have to do it but it would have been the ultimate competitive move for the Bengals to have signed him off of the Cowboys practice squad this week.

Would've been a hilarious move I'll give you that.

Is Lamar awesome though?  I would expect some awesomeness to leak through into a playoff game.    Seems to me to be a regular season stat compiler much more than an awesome QB.  Certainly not worth that level of investment.

I'm on record that I do not want my QB's rushing attempts anywhere near his completions in any game.  In the playoffs, Lamar has:

1st year:  17 points total
9 Rushes
14 Completions

2nd year: 12 points - 0 TDs offensively
20 Rushes
31 Completions

3rd year: Game 1 - finally a win - 20 points scored
16 Rushes
17 Completions

Game 2 - 3 points.
9 Rushes
14 Completions

For his career: 54 rushes, 76 Completions.   3 TD passes, 5 INTs.  (4 total TDs, 7 Total turnovers)

Where is the awesomeness?

Lamar is NOT awesome. Just like Hurts, he is very limited in his "QB" skills. As a RB he is very good but a poor QB. Honestly Id rather keep Hurts on a 4th year rookie deal then trade for Lamar. I think Hurts has more upside over Lamar passing wise.

You realize, I hope, that he wouldn't be forced to sign with the Bengals if they wanted him. He's a free agent, free to sign a contract with any team he would choose. Why would he choose to sign with the Bengals rather than the team that he's played for for a number of years and is planning on having him start for the next month?

Speaking of the Ravens. Looks like the Eagles are on LJ’s short list.

Well lets hope he is not on our list at all. We need a QB, not another RB taking snaps.

Not an option any way, as the player has to be signed 6 days before the player would be due to play his former team.

Howwwwww

Lamar has a legit completion percentage and had legit touchdown seasons while being a more effective runner
