September 20, 20222 yr Few extra thoughts, wasn't active last night so not sure how much was discussed. -Not sure I've ever watched a better game at CB than Slay played last night. Should have had 4 INTs easily. Give the ball to a fan though...not James Harden! -We all love Mailata, but he's got to clean things up. Is that 3-4 penalties in 2 games? Gave up a sack too but Hunter is no slouch. -Miles Sanders is convincing me that they might have to get him a new deal. 3 years $12-14 million get it done? -AJ Brown's RAC skills are something we haven't seen since TO. When he put on the brakes, literally slid to a stop and then gained the angle over the defenders was just beautiful. -Goedert seems to be playing mad. He's running more and more like Kittle once he has the ball in his hands. -Please, stop putting Reddick in coverage. You paid him to rush the passer and attack. Just let him do that. -Loved the hustle from both kickers to not let the Vikings score after the blocked FG. All out effort by both guys and the Eagles got an INT afterwards. Huge. -Maddox showed some serious jumping for the INT too. Loved that Irv Smith absolutely tattooed him and Maddox just ran away. -I want to see Trey Sermon up sooner than later. -TJ Edwards was close on numerous blitzes but he took some terrible angles over the course of the game. Give me Kyzer White on an extension. -Loving McPhearson, Dean and Johnson on ST. Those guys are flying down the field. -Didn't notice Jordan Davis at all last night but I'm guessing he was in there and had an impact on the running game.

September 20, 20222 yr Our team basically won the yardage battle 2 to 1. That's an ass-kicking. If not for the blocked FG, and some bad penalties (OPI killed a drive and a borderline Mailata hold that would have put them in FG range), it's 38-7 territory. Complete performance. Hurts won't be this good next week, because the Vikings deciding never to blitz was crazy, but it's a good performance. If this keeps up, Howie is going to be a buyer at the trade deadline.

I think they were always going to be a buyer unless they were just bad which with the roster they have and schedule they’d have to either have a plethora of injuries or hurts regressed and not improved or the defense was just god awful and some guys we signed really didn’t pan out

I thought there was a chance that even if we were good Howie would keep all his picks to hedge against Hurts. Now we may get off Hurts after this year, but it's no longer a must. By advanced metrics, Hurts is QB #3 this year. In 2017, RB was a clear need. Other than safety, I'm not sure what clear need exists. I could see EDGE after losing Barnett.
September 20, 20222 yr Nice win last night. A dominating one too. Couple of observations: Hurts played well. He had time to pass, receivers got open and did not take off when nothing open. Not yet a trend, but it seems that Hurts would like to rush in for the 1st TD of the game, when the team is down in the goal line. He did that in the 2 games this season. Davis was in the game. He has been quiet so far. Maybe he is getting used to the NFL game speed and playing style. Having been a dominating player in college, do not translate immediately to the prof game, where every lineman is big, strong and physical.

Graham is likely either just a backup at his age next year or gone. Sweat is a starter. You have ok depth but really we could use a starter long term at DE. I would say long term corner as slay is 32 at the end of the season and bradberry might leave at the end of the year if someone offers him more money. Safety they are fine cause they got CGJ and Epps. Unless they really don’t like what they see from Epps and CGJ from here until the deadline i think safety is likely not a need. I think both are gonna likely improve as they get more experience with each other and in their roles

I will give you credit, at least you and a handful of others have swallowed your pride and shown up here. But let's not make today about me and you. After last night, we should all be happy and full of joy. The team appears to have a legit franchise qb and enough high draft picks over the next two years to bring in young talent on the defense. A lot to be optimistic about.

I think it was always going to take Davis time to develop into a good pass rusher. He really was never asked to do it at Georgia so i suspected he’d likely start off slow in that area. Just hoping he improves week to week and becomes a consistent pass rusher by year’s end heading into next year. Against the run he’s helped the eagles when he’s out there. Might not get the tackle numbers but he is helping others with how stout he is and taking up space. we also got this so that was…. Interesting

September 20, 20222 yr Good Morning. What a show last night. Between Jalen and the Offense. Slay and the Defense that was the a complete Team Domination. The only downside ironically was the special teams with the block FG also we got pretty bad FP during kick off so there are still things to work on. But overall it was a great night. I feel they left about 2 more TD's out there in the 2nd half. Probably should have been 38-7 like the NFC Title game. The Eagles lead the NFC EAST over the Gmen (Tiebreaker based on Conference record) and are tied for #1 SEED in the NFC (Bucs and Eagles). I was off on my prediction score but I was right about Jalen scoring and the Defense getting a fumble and Pick. I knew this was going to be a bounce back Defensive game because Cousins was going to fold in primetime and he did. Slay literally could have had 5 Picks. Next up Two Weeks down Super Bowl LII Memory Lane. Wentz and the Commanders come into town. Overall offensively, Wentz has done pretty good but he's still making some costly mistakes in the turnover department. We will have to apply that same pressure on Wentz like Cousins next week. But Let's enjoy this. 2-0, they are actually starting the season out strong.

A lot to be optimistic about. The game ended late and most of us went to bed. Calm down with the MIA talk. Most everybody acknowledges Hurts had a great game last night, best of his career. He finally did the things we've been criticizing him for (keeping his eyes downfield when flushed, trusting his pocket, distributing the ball to his playmakers). We want to see him do it again. He had a fantastic half a game last year against the Broncos too, and then we never saw him repeat that until last night. I have more hope for him today than I did at this time yesterday, but let's see him build on this and keep it going. Defense was lights out yesterday, Slay was the MVP. I don't know what it is, but beating up the Vikings in Philly is just fun.

Let him walk at the end of the year, this next draft is supposed to be good for RB depth. With this o-line, I think we can inject young blood into RB and be fine.

Lots to like in this game I was impressed with Hurts too. I’ve been critical of him. Like the kid, but doubted his ability to reach a consistent ceiling in the passing game that’s good enough to win a SB Great game by him last night. He needs to build on that and let it become the norm. If it doesn’t become the norm, it doesn’t matter. Lots of QBs can have great games. I hope he continues to prove me wrong.

That’s a ridiculous reach and what has started all of this. I’d love to be proven wrong about Hurts. Because I would love for us to go after Will Anderson. But let’s not pretend you’re a blog regular all of the sudden. We all know why you’re so active in here right now. If he played like crap, you would be hiding in some other TATE thread. I brought this up last week after (and i think before the Vikings/packers game), the packers have tended to struggle against the Vikings in Minnesota over their last 7 trips to Minnesota. They are 2-5 and averaging 20.7 ppg. Rodgers and the packers have really only played really well in Minnesota 2 times in the last 7. Add on, GB needs to do something about their WR corps. It reminds me a ton of the 2020 eagles wr corps. They have an injury prone wr in Watkins (desean). They have an older breaking down possession type receiver in Randall Cobb (alshon). Two rookies in doubs and watson that are playing significant snaps (Watkins, reagor and hightower). Lazard didn’t play in week one so he wasn’t there. Frankly i think Green Bay makes a move to sign obj when he’s closer to returning or fuller. I’d say a trade but not sure who would be available down the road.
