Given that Hurts is now an elite QB and everything wrong has suddenly been erased based on one game, I wonder what our NFC championship game against a Cooper Rush led Cowboys team will look like.

And that Super Bowl matchup with Tua, coming full circle from losing his job to him at Alabama.

I hope we play against that umbrella coverage the rest of the season.  I wonder when the Minnesota DC will publish his book, "How not to defend Jalen Hurts”.

In a way it makes sense but they didnt generate nearly enough pressure.  If you can force Hurts to throw into coverage thats probably the way to go, but they went too Gannon with it and for waaay too long

We might see teams ping ponging back and forth between blitzing and trying to play coverage

Needless to say AJ Brown is making a huge impact

Here's my 2cents about the game.

Was nice to see hurts spread the ball around, still few too many times he tucked and ran for minimal gain against a blitz Instead of hitting his hot, 2nd to last drive running out of bounds in 3rd down to stop the clock preserving Minnesota's last time out was idiotic.

RBs looked ok, Sanders still sometimes I stead of just taking 2 or 3 will lose 1 or 2, +1 is better than - 1.

WRs looked solid.

Goedert needed to pull that ball on the turkey shot in cover2 if he wants to be considered elite.

O- line did their best to lose the game. Mailata had a hold( took away 32 yards) a false start and gave up a sack. Not good game for him.

D- line Cox looked like he was fired up, maybe Monday night lights got him going, still waiting for Hargrave to do anything at all, Tui was in the ground every other snap, Milton looked gassed and gave up on a few plays, sweat played well, I've ragged in him a bit, nice to see him crap me up.

Not sure what's up with Riddick, I don't think Gannon knows what to do with him

That game from slay is probably the best corner play I've seen in one game my whole life.

Dude had 5 PBU 2 Ints and could have easily had 2 more Ints, he was just locked in.

Safeties were ok still waiting for a safety under gannon to make a play🤷‍♂️

Gannons blitzes we're very timely and effective.

Not sure who missed block on the blocked FG but that was ugly, eagles were lucky sipposs was able to tackle the guy and save a TD.

Disappointed they didn't score in the 2nd half, they had their shots but used those shots on their feet

I hope so.

He is more likely going to break down like Cam with the punishment he takes.

TBH that’s the reason I’d be really hesitant with lamar. It’s less about talent more i think he gets that guaranteed contract he wants and  physically by year 3 you might see a decline. He takes some hits and he’s much more slender than guys like cam and hurts

Best part is Jalen just turned 24.  He's going to keep improving every season for years until he hits his peak as a player.

Tua as well.  I bet he throws 12 TD's in a game next year.

What would be your opinion if the Vikings ended up sucking this year?

They have a big game next week against the Lions.

I don't know what to make of the Vikings. They had a lot of dropped passes that impacted the game.  They didn't seem to be able to run the ball and the Eagles were able to get interior pressure.  I think they have some issues in their interior o-line that will make it difficult to be consistent.  If they do not win against the Lions next week, I am not sure they are going to be able to win the division.

Cousins is awful in prime time, that’s not an excuse, or hyperbole, it’s fact.  He wasn’t helped by a perfectly placed dropped pass either, just like Rodgers was last week vs the Vikings.
We’ve all seen that defense, it’s Gannons exact defense against the Chiefs and Raiders last season, Hurts was Carr and Mahomes last night. That style of defense is easily beaten by a competent QB with pass catchers that can actually catch the ball. They won’t beat GB next time playing the same way.
Back to Cousins, I don’t know their schedule but if they don’t have anymore Monday nights, or Thursday games, he’ll bounce back and they should finish at least around .500.

I falsely believed that being lucky enough to be one of 32 defensive coordinators in the world, that they would actually game plan around a QB’s strengths and weaknesses, I was wrong  The DC for the Giants isn’t a puppet, or married to any one scheme like Donatell, or Staley, he’s more like Bowles and  he’ll do everything he can to slow down Hurts, but that’s the Gnats, they don’t play for awhile.

Sudfeld played last night? :o

So I have to be negative…

I’m not seeing/understanding all of the offseason Gainwell hype. He’s meh at best.

Washington with two bad centers now. A game for Davis to feast. And, of course, they lost Scherff to the Jags. Interior line is not good.

The whole Vikings team just looked off in just about every facet of the game. I don't think they are as bad as they played last night while not being as good as they played against Green Bay. It's still very early in the season, it's hard to know what form any team is going to take.

It's the same thing every year. Teams can feel like they're very different from week to week.  It didn't seem to me that Cook looked that dynamic and seemed to go down fairly easy.  Maybe it was just comparing him to Swift the week before who looked very good.  Jefferson also looked fairly pedestrian and we know he is not.  I think he may have just thought it would be an easy game for him and was not expecting the coverge he got from Slay.  The Eagles also kept YAC down for him even when he broke an intial tackle.  Cousins looked how he normally looks.  He has a mediocre arm but good accuracy.  He can make bad throws when he's under pressure.

I don’t get it. I’d just watch the playoff game vs the Bucs and do whatever they did. Obviously it’s probably not that simple but still.

A lot of teams don't have the front 7 to pull it off as well as Tampa did

Was going to say that last night, to be honest. Just to tired to go on a rant.

I'd like to see what Sermon offers, because Gainwell just doesn't do it for me.

those were mostly people who didnt like Sanders. So they saw what they wanted to see in some other RB on the roster.

Its not there. He should have competed with Scott for #3. Neither is a #2.

Correct.  Last night was his best performance as a pro, hands down.   I'd have liked to see him protect himself a little more on some of the runs, including the second TD.  But, those types of plays are going to be made by competitive QBs when they smell the goal line.     The decision to keep and run on that play was definitely the right one.   A few times he ran that I'd prefer he have thrown the ball away.   And in the second half, he gave himself up a little faster than in the first half.   That's maturation process for a mobile QB.

I am still bothered that they are using him as a featured runner though.  I don't like it.  And I will never like it.  Just how I am wired.   I don't want my QB taking 'unnecessary' hits.  This is different to me than a bootleg where there is a run pass option, like the 2nd TD.  That's a classic waggle where the QB is usually going to be untouched to the sideline if he runs - and Hurts was.   Then he turned back inside at the 4.  I'd have been happier to see him run out of bounds, but at least he got into the end zone.   There was no guarantee he scores there when he turned back inside.  In fact, if the defender hadn't been trying to strip him, but instead just held him up, he'd have potentially be hit with a rib shot by the next defender.   To me, the risk wasn't worth the reward, even though we got the reward.

That's my:

Yes.  That's my concern as well.  Cam also complained for years about the lack of protections afforded to him while playing that style.  I haven't seen Hurts get much protection either with that style.

Cam played behind terrible offensive lines.  He was routinely taking contact early in runs and fighting through it.  Hurts has very good protection and blocking week in and week out on both running and passing plays.  I am not against using him in the running game but I do think Hurts needs to not keep the ball very often on QB run option plays.  He also needs to protect himself better than he has so far this season.  The end result may be the same because bodies just can't take that type of punishment week in and week out but I don't think the comparison with Cam is apples to apples.

Brown on a slant in the red zone seems to easy and obvious, but they are not doing it.

That and Devonta can get open down there.  Goedert is a big target.  Swing passes to Scott or Gainwell.   There are many options.

As good as he was on Sunday, man he had some under throws, but he showed why Daboll at Alabama wanted him to replace Hurts long before the National Championship game.
Having a coach (Flores) that hated his guts, plus one of the worst O-lines in history last season, Tua never really had fair shot until this year, at least he’s making the most of it.

btw, why isn’t Flores considered racist?  Tua technically has Samoan roots.

He's an ok change up back. I don't see why they see the need to design touches for him.

I would really love to see Sermon get a chance with this o-line. Was never a fit for Shanny's offense. Unfortunately we may not see him unless one of the current RBs gets injured.

Yup. After beating GB I think they were smelling themselves a little too much.
