Commanders have really good weapons. Doctson, mclaurin, Thomas and Samuel is really good quarter of receiving options. And you have gibson who’s not bad at RB. The key to that game defensively is dominating the below average Washington oline.

They have good weapons on defense too along that front so that'll be a good battle with our OL.

  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

  • Listen up blog.  Enough. These 2 ass clowns are suspended for 2 weeks.  They've both had warnings to quit the personal attacks.  There's a line between trash talk and just abusing other posters a

I don't disagree, but the late shots on a sliding QB is what I am referring to.  Hurts got jumped on a bunch after sliding last week.

Or worst case scenario, your foot gets caught in the grass when you slide and you have a Dak/Lance situation on your hand

As that play happened I mentioned Hargrave forced it.  Nice to see he exists.

Yeah it is.  Hope he is just rounding in to shape after missing tons of time with the toe injury. Need some DT penetration to help Sweat.

Their defense has stunk so far. Reminds a lot like last year. Good individual weapons/players you think should be good, that just stink as a team.

oh so it was the one where Hargrave is held, and still gets a hit on him as he throws?

5:15 in the video.

The throw on that intercepted screen pass wasn't bad.  Gainwell just totally muffed the catch.  Still I don't know why they felt the need to make that play call.

I think they'll cause problems for teams but yeah ultimately I don't think they are a contender. And so on that basis... If we are then we need to go in there and we need to handle them.

Some non Hurts stuff from last night:

1. Slay blanketing Jefferson in single coverage set the tone.  It's risky, but when you go head to head with your opponent's greatest strength and decisively win that matchup, everything else has a way of falling into place.  I don't think that he (or anyone else) will reliably erase a true #1 WR from the game, but he did last night.

2. Mailata still has some work to do against the speed rush.

3. Thank God the 12 personnel is over.  Brown/Smith/Watkins/Goedert are a great set of weapons.

4. Josh Sweat, despite the deserved facemask penalty, is growing into the most disruptive player in this front 7.

5. Reddick's presence on the field has been a net negative for the defense through 2 games.  Blame him, blame Gannon's utilization of him...whatever it is, it's not working at the moment.

6. Sweat is the only DL who is doing much of anything disruptive.  The DT's are not generating much push at all.  The massive disruption of the Vikings' respected pass attack was equal parts the secondary balling out with Cousins crapping the bed...with a touch of Sweat and a sprinkling of timely blitzes.

7. While I do believe that ST is being eroded from relevance in the modern NFL, whatever left of ST that is still impactful needs a lot of work for our Eagles.  This looks to be a team that will lose at least 1 game because of ST shortcomings this year.

Close to 25% of the snaps were in 12 personnel. Not gone but uses more appropriately.

Please call me out if I’m wrong but I’ve never been a big Jordan Davis guy. Has he done anything encouraging through the first two weeks? I haven’t been watching him closely, just haven’t heard his name. For all I know he could be playing very well.

Exactly.  Early run downs.  Later in the game when bleeding clock.

If I see it on third-and-long, I'll puke.

I actually told my friend to makes a bet on the Eagle when he asked me yesterday afternoon who to take. He made $1000 off of it. I want my cut lol. The closer it got to the game the more I kept thinking that the Vikings were gonna come in overconfident and cocky due to that packers win, and the Eagles defense hearing for an entire week about how bad they were and going to come out and finish the game unlike last week. I wish I would’ve change my prediction with you because I had a feeling from that morning all the way to the afternoon that that was very possible. Then the whole Jefferson thing really made me think that more.

almost got the smith prediction. Just 2 yards away. I knew they were going to actively look for him. When they started talking in pressers last week i figured he’d have a good game.

I was feeling good after the win (in more ways than one) and went with my buddy to the casino after for a bit. Put $15 on my birthday number, 22, and nailed it on the second spin of roulette.

Glad you can contribute to the blog.  I’ll put you down on the list of cowards who bring nothing to the table, except for a bunch of ITYS in week 2.  You’re just not smart enough to recognize what the Vikings were doing (or not doing) defensively

I'm on your list. I feel so special. What I saw is that they played a shell and dropped guys into coverage and hoped their line would create pressure without blitzes (forcing the QB to read the field, work though progressions and make throws on time) but what do I know next to you, King of the Dip****s. I bow at your majesty.

It's still early for the big fella. This is pretty much what I expected out of him though for his rookie year. And why trading up for him was, underwhelming? For me anyway. I think he can be really good, it's just going to take some time for the splash plays.

I made an EMB contest on draft kings. Something I have wanted to set up for a long time.

Its only 2 dollars to enter. No commitment for the year but it would be nice if people stuck with it. Each week is a new season. No getting stuck with a crap team for the entire year.

Link to join contest- https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/132529241

Set lineup prior to thursday night kickoff.

Weekly opportunity for bragging rights, as well as a little bit of money. The more that play, the better the prize.

Created a thread for this in the fantasy football thread, but wanted to spread the word a bit.

If you join, make sure you choose "EMB WEEKLY Contest". There is another one called "EMB Contest" that was created in error.

Thanks for doing this HE, I am in. 👍

Officials on MNF be like:

Yes, they spotted all the petty BS stuff, had two phantom delay of game calls, yet missed the blatant helmet hit on Maddox right after his INT (as in, you know, the kind of thing they should actually be looking for).

I believe he had 21 snaps yesterday, which is only a few more than last week. His name cropped up for some plays against the Lions but I also can't remember anything of note yesterday. Still early days and a very small sample size to work with. I have faith he'll come good, hopefully not as much a latent bloomer as BG!

He played less snaps than he did week 1.  But like 2 or 3.  Not good.

I think they played less defensive snaps overall and were in more obvious passing downs

Correct.

If we keep having to protect leads in the second half, then Davis was clearly a wasted pick. :smoke:

First thing I thought of but the table limit was $200 lol

That's the one place you don't want to do it. The slant goes behind the LBs, inside the CBs, and in front of the safeties. In the red zone they're all crowded together.

Unless you have Marshawn Lynch in his prime, in the most important game of the season with everything at stake, in which case, definitely throw the slant, crowding and traffic be damned.

He had one less than week 1, but percentage wise he went from 32% to 34%

Most draft picks, even the ones, tend to need a half season to acclimate to the pro game, except maybe RBs.

Well, if Jackson is 100%, I might use it on 3rd and long, the boy is tall and has some speed for a TE.

But I'm not sending Stoll down the field.

Thank you so much oh great contributor of animus, vitriol, condescension and little to no football insight. You are the high water mark of dysfunction. I'll give you that.

Except for all the ones that don't.  You keep pushing this narrative because your idol is incapable of drafting anyone that can walk in and have an impact from day 1.

He’s a rookie who has played in 2 games. Damn
