Anderson is not a DE. He’s a stand-up pass rusher not unlike Reddick. Better maybe but not a hand in the dirt DE. Sweat , Johnson, and Johnson are very different players. In a 4i he’d be a great edge but don’t ask him to handle a pro OT on a run play.

The earlier discussions in this interchange about hypothetically adding Anderson recognized the possibility that the Eagles would be migrating to a 3-4 scheme, so all 5 of the referenced players would be stand up pass rushers.

  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

  • Listen up blog.  Enough. These 2 ass clowns are suspended for 2 weeks.  They've both had warnings to quit the personal attacks.  There's a line between trash talk and just abusing other posters a

You nailed it. The Packers just beat a career 3-9 QB with a career 72.8 passer rating in Lambeau. The national media has to keep Rodgers' balls warm. They attacked Herb Akush for saying that just maybe a lying cheater should not be considered for MVP in a year he lied and cheated. This is clear and obvious for steroids but not disease spreading? (and should have been suspended for 20+ instances of rules violations) Those morons actively root for Rodgers. Of course they overrate the Packers.

You'd have to refresh my memory and I'm just asking because I don't know.

How did Aaron Rodgers cheat?  This is the first I'm hearing of this.

Why is he using all those words and not clearly defining each principal component. Stat bois are so self-aggrandizing

It might have something to do with him saying he was "immunized" rather than "vaccinated". And then he tested positive.

They can see through all of that. Keep It Simple Stupid does the trick, imo. But I think I’m younger than most here, so that comes into play.

I agree.

Always have and always will just compliment the wife if I think she looks good in something. Never have to get cheesy with it or go over the top.

It's not difficult, lol.

ESPN has us at 8 with a few 1 loss teams and the Dolphins ahead of us.  I think power rankings are dumb, this early.  But even that is ridiculous

I would have Bills and Chiefs ahead of us. Probably Miami too.

Im not sure anyone in the NFC belongs ahead of us. Buccs may get there but not at the moment.

Currently, I think we should be 4thrd in the power rankings. 1st in the NFC.

I'd agree with that. I think right now we are the best in the NFC but there are at least 2 teams ahead of us overall.

We have 3 in the EMB draftkings contest so far. Lets get more before tomorrow's game. https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/132529241

 Not Miami.  No way.

eh... if its supposed to be based on the current week, their offense outscores ours.

If we continue to see improvement from our D, and then Tua shows it was a fluke that can change.

Ya don’t say.

Jalen Carter could play anywhere from the 5T inward, and is a likely top-10 pick. We are also down a Jalen on the roster.

Question-

*Assuming Hurts can keep up a level of play close to what we saw on Monday night* If we were to trade for Robert Quin, and sign JPP, are we super bowl contenders?

This D with Sweat playing well, and Quinn, and being able to rotate in Graham who is still solid, and JPP, and an occasional rush from Reddick

We still have opportunities to create a scary pass rush, in front of what is proving to be a playmaking secondary.

I just looked at a walter mock that had us taking Nolan Smith, listed on their site as a DE. He is 230lbs. I dont consider him a DE. But I wonder if we consider it so that it allows us to move Reddick to full time DE.

Their 2 round mock had Nolan Smith, Josh Proctor (S from Ohio State that missed last season with a broken leg), and Joey Porter.

Id prefer to see more work done up front rather than the secondary, though I do love Porter. I also think he is a 1st rounder. Lots of things messed up about their mock for us.

We're SB contenders no matter what.

Quinn has a 12M base salary, so if we trade for him he'd be taking 7-8M of cap space for one season. Unless he restructures in Chicago (ie, they eat some money), no thanks.

I dont think we are. I think right now we are in contention to make it there out of the NFC, but a decent gap separates teams like the Bills, and Chiefs from us as of now. That makes us pretenders.

That gap existed in 2017 as well.

By definition, this makes us SB contenders. I think we'd be a wild-card team in the AFC, but if we get into the playoffs with a round or two of home-field anything can happen.
2021: Bengals were a 4 seed
2020: Bucs were a 5 seed
2018-2019: Chalk
2017: Eagles were a 1 seed that were underdogs in every game + Jags got to AFFCG

Agreed on N.Smith - pound for pound he’s a very strong, jacks blockers and sheds effortlessly. And like Reddick he can drop, but you’d likely would want to scheme up some sacks for him as he is very fluid but isn’t going to go through OLmen at pro level. If BillB drafted him I’d get KVN vibes.

Hurts played great Monday.  Not taking anything away from him.  It was great to see improvements across the board for him.  With that being said, the team still only scored 24 points and all of that was in the 1st half.  The offense didn't to much in the 2nd half at all. Also, the defense played on another level that we haven't seen in some time.  We need to be careful that we don't use Monday as a measuring stick for the rest of the year because I doubt we see the defense and Hurts play on that level at the same time again.  The Vikings also left quite a few plays on the field that would have made that a different game.

We also need to remember that again, as good as Hurts played and as encouraging as MNF was, there are 28 QBs with more passing TDs than Hurts right now.  Yes, he has 3 rushing TDs and you can't take those away but again, the Hurts progression many of us want to see is as a passer and there are still big areas of improvement needed.

I don't think Gannon has it in him to create a scary pass rush unfortunately.  He's done absolutely nothing with Reddick through 2 games as far as being creative and getting him after the QB.

I'm going to be happy if Hurts shows continued growth from Monday, still would like to see him not get hit as much.

F'ing nerds

It's like people have never been through an NFL season before. How many September powerhouses flame out in November/December? It happens every single year.

Now, there's reason for optimism, and obviously it's far better to start well than not. But the season is a marathon, and we've just passed the first 3 miles of 26 basically.

As the popular saying goes, you cant win a marathon in the first three miles but you can sure as hell soil yourself and chafe your nipples

We have not soiled ourselves and our nipples are feeling great

Would have been an upset otherwise.

Your semantics make for a boring discussion. Who cares about just making it there? I want to actually contend- as in be as good as the teams ahead of us.
