Gannon Sux!

Good signing.  👍

I can’t remember if it was a point of contention in here about him dropping back so much, but I’ve heard it elsewhere. He’s not really dropping that much.

True... early returns are bad though.

They're roughly 10% apart in opportunities.

If you had to pick one to drop into coverage you’d think Reddick would be the better choice. It’s going to happen sometimes with five-man fronts. We aren’t always going to rush all of them.

Reddick in coverage is a fish out of water.

Sounds like they run a tight ship over at Belk in SC:

I told you guys the eagles edge rushers always dominate these charts.

If you track the plays where Reddick is in coverage, it's when they are lining up 5-2 on run downs.  Reddick is playing SAM and will occasionally need to cover if the other team chooses to throw when we are in that formation.

It isn't Gannon dropping him from the LOS on third and long.

Last year was the first time I played in 10 years.  It kept me interested in games that I might not usually care about.  But I see what your saying.  Like, I don’t care who people have on their fantasy team.  It’s like people talking about and showing pictures of their babies.  Yeah, babies are cute.  I get it.  Then again, I don’t like casually talking football with most people.  Because most people are Fing morons when it comes to football.  If some random dude sees me wearing any Eagles gear, mostly a hat or golf shirt and makes a comment, I am pretty vague with my response. Small talk with a casual fan is painful.  If a mfer starts with "Go Birds” or "F Dallas” then we might have something.

And that’s what I’m talking about.  The track is showing the first landfall up that way.  It’ll stay hundreds of miles off shore until then.

I did the EMB fantasy basketball when I had little emotional attachment to the NBA/Sixers.  Never done fantasy football though.  I find the worst part is the people who think they know what they're talking about because of fantasy.  Fantasy nerd 'man, X QB was so good yesterday'.  Me, 'No....they racked up a bunch of stats in a blow out loss'.  I also like to watch the nuances of the game, not necessarily the flash.  Never appealed to me.

If you play in the EMB contest you'll be smarter too.

High bar for our big money free agent acquisition.

We didn’t pay him to be good at dropping back and covering one on one. He’s more of a spot dropper. Obviously he needs to be better at rushing the passer. That will tell the story of how good of a signing he is.

I agree.  We didn't bring him here to drop... but he isn't doing well at what he was brought here to do either.   And if we have to do something like drop Reddick because he's a better option to drop than Sweat... then they built the defense poorly.

He’s dropping a handful of snaps a game,  and the defense looked pretty damn good Monday night.

I get the disappointment over his pass rush productivity so far, but this gloomy outlook over dropping back a few snaps a game is over the top. We all knew this was going to happen when we signed him. How many 3-4 OLBs are actually decent at pass coverage? There aren’t many Connor Barwins walking around.

It just seems like Gannon really isn't putting him in a position to succeed from the pass rushing aspect.  In reviewing his highlights, most of his sacks come from rushing off the edge (mainly the left) using his speed and bend to beat the OT outside.  BasicalIy, he is lined up as a LDE.

I don't have his pass rushes from last week but I seem to remember him being used more as a blitzing LB both inside and outside.  Maybe someone some additional insight as to how he is being used.

I don't think he turned into a poor pass rusher overnight.  It may just be a matter of the types of pass rush looks he is getting.

Fantasy people:

Jameis Winston or Joe Flacco for OP on Sunday?

I think he’s being used just fine. He’s just not winning his matchup nearly enough.

Side note: Loved seeing Sweat used on the end-tackle stunt. I hope to see more of that because he’s explosive on those loops.

Just go with Flacco so you can root for Winston to throw five picks in a blowout loss.

That may be true.  I would like to see the rushes
