The saints should be a top 10 pick + our mid 20 pick, might be enough juice to go get him at 3 or 4. Assuming Bryce and Stroud go 1 and 2. Lets say that Saints pick is #7 - 10. We could theoretically move up to grab Will Anderson and I wouldnt be mad at it at all. However a part of me wonders if we should use that pick and trade back with a team that will need a QB, and that position in the draft could be ideal. If we have to pay Hurts big money then we are going to need a lot of players on really cheap contracts to replace these 1 year contract players on defense and older vets. In this case 5 2nd round picks (just tossing that number out of my ass) might be better than Will Anderson.

Would yall be willing to give up a 1st...probably the higher of the two...to the Panthers for Brian Burns? With what money?

Well this is what im saying if youre willing to go up and grab Will Anderson that high in the draft, youre going to have to pay him Brian Burns type money anyways. So do you trade 2 1s and whatever else it takes to go up and get Will Anderson or just trade a 1 for Brian Burns?
September 23, 20222 yr If Hurts establishes himself as the QB going forward, then we need to use our significant draft capital to fix the DE position. It is the 2nd or 3rd most important position in football and we have largely shied away from taking big swings in fixing it. Trade up for Anderson, or take two DEs with the first 3 picks.
September 23, 20222 yr Ted Nguyen at The Athletic is a good follow. Interesting piece on the Lions run offense. For those with subscriptions. https://theathletic.com/3613162/2022/09/22/lions-offense-ben-johnson/?source=pulsenewsletter&campaign=5097678 For others, some tidbits from the article: The popularity of the outside zone system that stems from Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay has led to more teams employing a Vic Fangio-style defense, which asks defensive linemen to play slower and take on a gap-and-a-half, rather than fly upfield and play only one gap. Theoretically, the defense can live in light boxes and invest more personnel in defending the pass as long as its front can slow down ball carriers long enough for the secondary to help. This works well against zone runs because offensive linemen move laterally, but the Lions like to run right into the teeth of defenses with authority. They want their offensive line, one of the best in the league, firing off vertically and punishing defenders. Campbell has given first-year offensive coordinator Ben Johnson play-calling duties, and the Lions have truly been system-agnostic, taking bits and pieces from multiple systems. A lot of their passing game comes from McVay, not because it’s in vogue but because it’s what quarterback Jared Goff knows and has had success running. The Lions’ running game, however, is one of the most diverse attacks in the league. Based on my charting of their first two games, they’ve run: Trap. wham, long trap Duo, counter duo Counter, super counter, YY counter Inside zone Power Wind back Outside zone, zorro Toss crack Sweep G-lead Their run game menu includes a variety of gap scheme runs (physical runs with down blocks and pullers). Many teams have traps and whams in their playbook, but the Lions use them as some of their base run plays. On the second snap of the season, they hit an "influence wham” play for a 50-yard gain.

Apple+ just bought the rights to the SB Halftime show & will try to get Sunday Ticket package. What does that mean? Is it saying you won't be able to watch the halftime show unless you have Apple + ? If that's the case then great, I don't really watch it anyway.

I dropped cable about 2 years ago for youtube TV, and its been great. But if everything is going to fragment off to services like apple, hulu, amazon, etc over time then its going to end up becoming more expensive than cable, and less convenient when you always have to be changing apps on your TV. Best thing will be if they dont get the number of people signing up that they want. Hopefully people show them viewership wont be the same as it is on a large network that is broadcast across multiple streaming services and cable companies simultaneously. I already have YTTV, Amazon, and Netflix. I am not interested in adding more. I have both Amazon Prime and Netflix, an I don't have to change from Amazon to Netflix. Netflix is one of the choices within Amazon Prime. It is just like changing the channel on your TV set.

Im not saying they will give him up for a 1st. It was just a hypothetical situation in that we need a stud DE who is young. That being said the Panthers are not the smartest of franchises ala their last 3 QB investments...and they only have 4 draft picks in 2023.

September 23, 20222 yr Sure you can go from Netflix to Prime with the click of a button. Or you can go home to your app tray lineup but none of that is an instantaneous as hitting last channel or hitting the channel number you want. There is always going to be a load time now. It might "only” take 30 seconds but it’s no where near the same as Last Channel.
