No props for Foles? Hurts can't be in the conversation if he's unable to distribute the ball in the passing game

Hurts is a starter, not a journeyman backup.

Didn’t the Saints already lose a safety to FA? Pretty sure that Williams guy went to the Ravens. Interesting they dealt him for so little.

They got two new safeties in FA

Looking back, I remember when the mantra was "Howie is monitoring the situation" after we missed on a lot of the big free agents.

Then he started his run. Signing Reddick, White, Bradberry, Pascal (meh) and trading for AJB, CGJ was a haul. Then a seemingly solid draft, not to mention setting up assets for future drafts for a QB in case.

Not a Howie fan but the way he's fixed (both bandaids and longterm) this many positions in one offseason is impressive. Skeptical it will all come together smoothly with this coaching staff but nonetheless I am pleased.

NFL isn’t like other companies that need to resort to gimmicks.  Like I said, it’s dumb.

But this is not about the NFL. It is about TNF being on Amazon. Unlike all of us nutbags who spend our time on a MB even during the offseason, there are many casual fans who have no idea that TNF is not on TV anymore. So the best way to get the message out is to make a viral video of something absurd to get people talking about it.

They want people to start sharing it all through social media to get the word out and ensure everyone knows that Amazon now has TNF. They are trying to get to those people.

Not yet. Hope you're right but he could very well end up being one.

Wtf was that all about? Dude's swinging for the fences on a helmet.

In an earlier encounter, I believe CGJ ripped his mouthpiece off his face mask and threw it on the ground... likely while saying something that Ms. Manners would deem unkind.

No argument on Smallwood. To me, he and Scott are the same type, fringe guys that at best are a #3.

KG could be better than Clement. I think they're a wash right now, with a slight edge to Kenny G for being a better receiver. Essentially the same runner, stats wise.

I just disagree between Blount and Sanders. I think Blount was far superior. Especially with Sanders drop off in his catching ability. If Sanders was still as good a receiver as he was his rookie year, I think he's better than Blount. Without that ability, give me Blount all day every day.

And yes, I think we need to ignore Ajayi/Sproles for the sake of this argument.

Tbh i think they make a similar move at the deadline that they did for ajayi. So i don’t think this is the group they finish the season with. If cleveland falls off with brissett i see hint or Johnson being a target. Wouldn’t be surprised if penny is a guy that becomes available. Also do think Mattison is a guy that could be available too

That "journeyman backup" help the Eagles win a SB. Still won't put respect on his name but you'll sit there all day and defend your partner

Tbh i feel like foles would actually succeed in this offense with the talent we’ve accumulated. When he’s actually had this type of talent around him he’s succeeded in Philly. It’s always when he goes to teams that have talent deficiencies all over the field like rams, jags and bears looks like complete crap and forgets how to play. Even with the chiefs when they asked him to start in 2016 when smith missed time he looked competent.

So you're saying we should bring back Foles? I like it.

They signed Honey Badger and Marcus Maye in the off-season though

There's some weird stuff going on with him right now though. He just removed all references to the Saints from this social media accounts, fwiw.

I mean if they don’t get Davenport deal done it would be ridiculous. I’m hoping they don’t. I’ve loved that kid since he came out of UTSA

After the draft, many GMs stop making moves. Howie is one of the few who says the talent acquisition stage isn't done and actually means it.

He got Bradberrry and CGJ after the draft.

You know what else Hurts isn't that Foles is? A SUPERBOWL MVP!

Makes no sense.  The only people who will see that weird ass ad are the same people who are going to watch anyway.

You realize that us people who are so diehard about the NFL, the Eagles, etc. that we contribute daily on an online message board are NOT the casual fan audience they're targeting, right? It's not about NFL advertising. It's NFL on streaming service Amazon Prime on Thursday nights advertising. And Wilson football gets a nice bump as well.

Yep.  So why even make the video?  I don't see any marketing upside or relevant purpose behind it.

Wouldn't shock me to see Amazon Prime on the football though.

As someone who's been critical of Roseman the past few years, mainly because of his drafts and the decision he made on guys like DeSean and Alshon, he's doing exactly what you're supposed to do with a QB on a rookie deal and has killed it. If you want a lesson on what not to do, Chicago has left Fields dead in the water.

Just now, 4for4EaglesNest said:

He’s done a decent job of sweeping up the ashes to the building he burned down.   Good for him.  We still don’t have a QB and much in the secondary or DE for the future.  He did a good job at getting his "yes-man” at HC though.

Yeah as much as he's done, there's a mountain of pressure on Hurts because those picks could be used to add DE, CB, S, RT, etc. If Hurts ends up not being the guy, as most reasonable fans suspect, we're going to invest most 1st & 2nd rounders the next 2 years to move up, assuming we end up with a pick around 18-25. It will be interesting to start tracking the QB needy teams to see how we stack up in terms of draft assets for the upcoming draft.

Howie said he was still rebuilding.

Players 29 and older left on the roster (ignoring kickers): Lane, Kelce, Seumalo (29), Graham, Cox, Slay, Bradberry (29)

So the only older players are starters, and only Lane is a good bet to be back next season, the others depend on their play this year.

I respect Foles what what he did but that's what he is.  He isn't a good QB or else he would be starting int he league.  He is a highly inconsistent QB that got hot at the right time for two games while playing on a stacked team.

But I think our current backup QB situation is just as good as 2017 with Minshew.

I remember how much this city hated Pete Rose until he became a Phillie.

I'm unsure if you're trolling and since the long discussion this morning I will ask you this.

Do you think Hurts dresses in more games as a starter, or as a backup in his career.

I think starter because I believe he plays well enough to take the Eagles in a deep playoff run and secure an extension with the Eagles in the offseason.  But we are less than 2 weeks form the season so we will see.
