The Texans are drafting 1st overall (likely) and Jets could be out of the playoffs by the deadline.

In 3 weeks, we'll have a better sense of who is a buyer and who is a seller.

Definitely.   But, I just don't see either team holding a fire sale.  I'm interested in both.  Cost becomes the question.

When the media pumps one of the top rushing defense

The weather absolutely sucked, but this was a master class put on by Stoutland.

Birds haven’t won in Arizona since 2001, when the Cards were still at Sun Devil. Last year, we got to see the Birds win at Atlanta’s new stadium, and in Denver for the first time since 88 or 89 I think. I know it was before my time as a fan. We’re long overdue for a win in Arizona.

I was hoping to see Davis get more snaps as the games go on, not less.  I am not worrying yet....but.  Something seems off there.

17 of 47 snaps.  That's... not great.  The argument could be made it was due to the matchups and the Jags more pass happy.   Jags passed 58% of the time.  So, Davis only being on the field for 36% of the snaps isn't terrible.  BUT, a top 15 pick should play more than 1/3 of the snaps at DT.  So far, return on investment is... weak.   There's still time this season for more impact, and he might get a bunch more once Cox and/or Hargrave are gone next year and moving forward.  But, they are definitely slow playing him.   Will he play more next year and they go to more 5 man fronts rather than even fronts?  Next year, Graham is likely gone as well... and they might go to a more traditional 3-4 alignment more often.  Or Gannon leaves and then who knows what happens?

So far, the Eagles are getting very little from this year's draft class.  Jurgens (rightly so) is sitting behind Kelce and seems to be a future star.  Davis is out there... but not much.  Not sure how much impact he's having on the running game.  But Eagles are ranked #9 against the run... even after that first game disaster against the Lions, and the lionshare (pun intended) of those yards came when Davis was not in the game.  Dean is playing ST, but is behind Edwards... who is playing very well.  But, Edwards is a UFA at the end of the year.  Will Dean be ready to step up and be big enough with Davis shielding him playing in the middle?   Should be interesting to see the progression of this draft class next year.   It seems like it was much more about Years 2 and beyond... with almost no expected significant impact for Year 1.

IMO…

The 5 best teams in the NFL based on 2022 resume:

1. Eagles. 2. Bills. 3. Chiefs 4. Dolphins 5. Packers

The 5 actual best teams in the NFL:

1. Chiefs 2. Bills 3. Eagles 4. Dolphins 5. Rams

Haven’t seen many talk about McPherson, thought it was an encouraging sign he stepped in for Slay and did a nice job. Maddox however needs to play ASAP

Plans are in the works to kidnap @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles!.

You know what I loved about yesterday was Shane Steichen gave Hurts a chance to throw the ball, read the defense, and when he saw he couldnt he switched the game plan up real quick.

Yep.

Not a knock on Hurts though. He wasn't great, by any means, but he wasn't terrible either. Just kinda meh, but given the weather and the defense it's okay.

Steichen has done really, really good so far..IMO

If the Eagles win 12 or 13 games this year... The Eagles might lose both coordinators.   When was the last time that happened to this franchise?

Couldn't tell you.

Will say though, I don't understand why coordinators are always so happy to leave. Yeah, I get the aspect of wanting to lead a team and improve upon your life. Sure.

I also get that you're on a winning team with a SB in mind and still make stupid amounts of money. If you were going to get Belichick  money from the get go, sure, but that's typically not even close to how it starts.

It's kind of a nice luxury to be able to slow play in the rookies. Of course we'd all like to see Davis be a dominating monster, but he may need a full off season with an NFL weight training program to fully unlock his strength. I feel like Dean is one of those guys who doesn't look like anything special in practice, but is a "gamer". It's nice to see our LBs playing so well that he's an afterthought at this point.

Winning hides a lot of ugly warts, and if we were 2-2 or worse, there'd be a louder outcry about the rookies so far. But ideally, this is how a roster should be built, having rookies really ready to take over in their second year. Things are really coming up aces so far this season.

These guys have life long dreams to coach their own team, with their own staffs, and get the glory. The money also helps.

But there's such an extensive list of guys who are great co-ordinators and terrible HCs, because they are vastly different jobs. You never really know until you dip your toes into the water I guess.

I think there's a dramatically different level of pay for a HC vs an OC.   I also think that most of the top coordinators always want to sit in the big chair.  And if they fail as a HC, the door is almost always open for them to return to another team as a coordinator.   But, I get the draw.  Who wouldn't want to be the top guy in the NFL?  That's what they got into the coaching business to do, probably.  I would think the dream is to be a head coach, not just a coordinator.   You think that a chef's dream is to be a sous chef their whole life?  Or do they dream to become the head chef?  My guess it's about a lot more than just the money or even the ego thing.  I think its in large part the competitive nature of the beast.

We also weren’t stopped backed up on our side of the field much. Sure the touchbacks aren’t the best thing but when you are punting from damn near midfield its going to lead to a lower net.

We had one punt on a short field that Agnew fielded at about the 10 and returned it to the 20. It’s not just touchbacks.

The nice thing is I feel like we have natural replacements for them. We couldn’t effectively replace Reich because Flip was already out the door. There was nothing behind Schwartz if he were to go.

I feel good about Brian Johnson and Dennard Wilson.

I don't know enough to have a feeling one way or the other.  Johnson seems to have done a nice job with Hurts this offseason though.  He would definitely get the benefit of the doubt.

As for Wilson... I'd want to try for Fangio first.

Jax punts:

From Jax 28 yard line - 53 yard punt, returned 2 yards to our 21

From Jax 25 - 46 yard punt, OOB at our 29

From Jax 17 - 61 yard punt, downed at our 22

Eagles punts:

From our 47 - 53 yards for TB

From Jax 47 - 38 yards to the 9, returned for 8 yards to Jax 17

From our 29 - 43 yards to Jax 28 for no gain.

I don't think that's all that bad.

Two chances to pin them deep twice and failed. I think that’s bad.

In Tua’s case he wasn’t fine and he couldn’t stand without his linemen holding him up. I don’t think anyone is calling for guys to get yanked anytime it looks like they took a shot to the head. Just the obvious cases like Tua last week when he was a standing 8 count to anyone with a working pair of eyes.

Have you ever hurt your lower back and got a sharp twinge muscle spasm?  Your walking would look exactly like Tua’s. That was why the back injury response seemed to fit.

Yeah, keep him in the same role as Sirianni’s right-hand man. I like what Johnson did at Florida as OC.

Frank Reich is on the hot seat, while Fangio is already in the building too.
