Is it that you’re stubborn or that you don’t think he’s playing well?

Its that i dont think he is that good and we are beating up on bad teams again. i think for whatever reasons people are desperate to see talent that isnt there.

He'd get an extension where the big money kicks in year five.

Why would he take that unless the signing bonus is huge?

Remember guys.  Intercept Cancer!  So many instructions for us.

Reminds me of the Kings of Comedy when Steve Harvey is talking about too many instructions at a rap concert.  I paid $38.50, G'damnit you scream.

I thought all Monday night games were on ABC this year? Evidently it was only the first few weeks?

There is precedent that QBs don’t work the same as other positions in that regard. The de facto team leader isn’t going to stage a holdout. Kirk Cousins, Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Drew Brees all played out their rookie deals without a whimper, none were getting top 20 money. Brees even knew he wasn’t coming back, they drafted a #1 QB his final year,  and he still didn’t demand a trade.

If Howie said we need to see a little more, I don’t see Hurts of all people throwing a tantrum about it. If there’s one thing he’s got, it’s his level-headedness.

To be clear: I do think we extend him this offseason, but it’s not out of the question to ask for more time.

The precedent thats more noteworthy is that as soon as you give big money to a mediocre qb you wreck your cap and cant keep enough other talent to win a title.

tampa and rams even show the path for a proven qb is build the rest of the roster

Jalen on the Peyton and Eli MNF right now

Covey has a long of 12 yards and average of 5.73 yards per PR. We have seen enough of this experiment

So was watching the broncos Punt returner, he had a 30 yard return, there was no one within ten yards of him when he fielded the punt, nearest defender came Into the pic after he had picked up 10 yards, once a Raider came into the pic, he was blocked as was the next nearest defender, at about 15 yards later being untouched he encountered a defender and made him miss then ran up the crease created by his blockers for about 30 yards.

Now compare that to covey who upon fielding a punt is immediately met by 5 to 6 unblocked defenders.

Covey isnt the sole issue, anybody else with the same non blocking isn't going to do much better, if anything the special teams coach needs to figure out better blocking schemes on PRs because whatever they're doing now is an abomination.

Imagine still hating Jalen Hurts so much that you still get triggered into posting something negative about him anytime he's mentioned.

I said the big money.  There would be a signing bonus that he gets upfront in 2023.  Followed by a myriad of guarantees and future bonuses that make up the majority of the contract.

Howie will do this to make the impact in 2023 manageable because of the truck load of dead money and option years he's carrying.

I almost went on the Eagles site today to check injury news. But I didn't. My boycott since they shut the message board continues. Does anyone go on there?

It's a easy way to check on the roster and transactions.

I also like to get the Gamebooks.  A nice resource after the game.

Peyton asked Hurts what qbs he sees in a similar mold…he listed Rivers, Luck, Brady…NOT Lamar Jackson.  I like that.

Those are probably the 3 that I'd name as well for him.

Similar mold as himself? .  He listed Brady as being similar to himself?   Brady is and has always been a statue.  Hurts is the exact opposite of that.   Self-awareness?

I think he has played better than I expected. I think you don’t accept how well he has played.

Which is of course nonsense

I dont think you are making an objective assessment. Cest la vie.

I would have chosen Brees as the ideal qb to emulate for Hurts.  Regardless, I like that he chose pure passers.  None were raw arm talent gunslingers, more dispense, release, touch.  I think his mind is in the right place.  The mobility needs to be an afterthought.  Be like those guys, not someone who means too much on the legs.

He was asked a long-winded question from Peyton....it also included who he likes to watch game film of...

Why didn’t Hurts compare himself to Marino and Favre while he was at it?

That makes more sense.

Look, Hurts is generally everything I don’t like in a qb.  I want a 6’5” perfection passer with a big arm.  But Brees is one of the most elite, prolific passers in NFL history without those traits.  I fought hard against Hurts all offseason…but now that he’s shown both a willingness to prioritize being a pure passer and, just maybe, the aptitude to actually do it…combine that with the 4-0 start and I’m willing to enjoy the ride…for now.

In context it wasn’t really a boast.

Luck could and did use his legs.  At least earlier in his career.
