Theres plenty of starters who were willing to sit out, or not get franchised tag. I want zero part of a dak situation here.

I dont think an injury works in his favor as I truly believe Minshew could come here and do pretty well(not as great as Hurts as been) but well enough where they say, well if Minshew can do it, a lot of people can do it.

Everything else I agree with.

Starting Quarterbacks who sat out and don’t play due to not getting market setting deals? It happens at other positions but never at QB. They play because they know their money will come eventually, whether from this team or the next. WRs or other positions’ stock may plummet immediately if they don’t get that deal now

This one is surprising. I thought they were much better than that.

Lions game.

Also, keeping teams from running by having leads doesn't mean you're great at stopping the run.

It's more "AJ Brown vs. Allen Robinson, 1st rounder, 3rd rounder, 10M in cap space per year over 3 years".

I would still take AJ, but it's not as big of a slam dunk.

I read it wrong but it’s pretty much saying what I thought

Where in what I responded to you was a "tough guy remark"?  😀  Don't so damn sensitive.  It's ok to admit that it was a silly reason to list, Hurts being a better runner than Allen.  No reason to get all huffy and name call.  Yeesh.

Hypocrisy 101.

They're simulations. If it's a top 10 pick 61% of the time, it's also in the 11+ range 39% of the time.

I think they'll win more than we expect. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and New Orleans craters.

Their lone victory is a 1 point win against the Falcons. I was saying before the season that I think once they start losing I dont think their HC will be able to keep them playing hard and that good defense will start to give way more often. I actually expected them to win more games at this point in the season. It was the middle of the season that I expected them to really start putting up losing streaks, but if they lose to Seattle then this team could really fall apart big time.

That being said I wonder how much a team that is like..2-8 or something, is affected by the knowledge they have no 1st round draft pick in the upcoming draft. They know there is no immediate impact player that will help them in the next year...at least not one coming in the draft. It has to be pretty deflating for any player under contract through the next few years. To be that bad and know it will probably continue to the next year.

I learned my lesson with Wentz and I hope the Eagles did too.  Let him prove it before you pay him

The risk of waiting pales in comparison to locking-in the wrong guy and devastating your budget.

We've got all season, lets see what he does with the last 3/4 of the schedule plus playoffs

Also the Broncos signed Latavius Murray away from the Saints after he was doing great for them in London.

That's an amazing move for us haha. Murray is an excellent rotational back, and I think this is a "cursed" season for Kamara.

Regarding the Hurts contract extension talk..

IMO, he needs to win at least one playoff game. You have a top shelf OL with a great set of weapons, running game, defense, etc. Making the playoffs with a cupcake schedule and getting blown out in the playoffs or looking like garbage shouldn't move the needle for anyone.

At this point anything short of a NFCCG appearance is a major disappointment

While I agree to an extent, it kinda depends on what happens the rest of the season.

No, but it will make him more durable. I said in the GDT that he's not a RB playing QB, but he is built like a RB. Dude is a tank. I don't want him taking unnecessary hits in any case, but I am hopeful that he can hold up to the punishment as a mobile QB better than most we have seen.

We are 56-58-5 all-time against this franchise.

3-7 in our last ten, including the NFCCG loss.

We lost to the Chicago Cardinals in the 1947 Championship Game, but redeemed ourselves the following year by winning the 1948 Championship Game in the snow.

It does make him more durable and he MIGHT make it through the season because of his build, but this makes me question the long term contract aspect with Hurts. If he keeps playing like this he will not last long in this league. Period. Regardless of how this year ends for the Eagles, Hurts needs to continue to transition his game. Honestly he needs to start now because he has taken a lot of punishment so far through 4 weeks and including the hit he took in preseason. This falls on the coaching staff as well. Stop putting him in so many positions to get hit. Limit these QB carries as much as possible.

Let’s say Hurts ends up 2nd in MVP voting, sets Eagles QB record for Rushing+passing yards. We go 13-4 with the #1 seed and host GB in the second round. We end up losing that game 35-26, Hurts is just okay with 1 rushing TD, 1 passing TD, 1 INT.

Do you go all in on 2023 draft, trade for 1st overall and try and trade Hurts?

I would give him one more season and give him a chance to prove he can get over that hump, as he's under contract anyway.

I would not give him a monster payday.

I admit my assessment was off. I thought he was a low volume one trick pony in a run first offense. He certainly looks to be a complete package here.

admittedly i over value first round picks so the price and cost also weighed into it

Mine too.  When that trade was made, I looked at my friends who are Vagiants fans and asked, "Did we just give up way too much for AJ Brown?"  I've seen him play a bunch in Tennessee, but I guess not enough.  I had no idea he was this dominant and strong-handed.  He can create separation in a phone booth, and he is almost always in the perfect position for YAC every time the ball is thrown.

Didn't Nick say they won't do that though?

What if he wins a playoff game then gets blown out and outclassed in the next game?

Hurts is better than I anticipated and it’s great that he’s getting better each year. However, he still needs to show some stuff. A handful of recent teams have made it far in the playoffs with average at best QB play.

Vikings in 17, Jags in 17, Rams in 18, 49ers in 19 and 21 just to name a few off the top of my head. Each of those teams didn’t wait long before upgrading (or attempting to) the QB position. So I think Hurts needs to show a little more than just winning.

Another issue with College football that people ignore.  Side note, the NCAA should force these programs to play other big time programs in their non conference games. But they wont, they want to keep beating on Mary Sister of the Blind

Same. It was tough to recognize him in that offense that featured Henry so much. I watched their playoff game vs the Bengals last year and I really don’t remember him doing anything. But maybe that’s because I had 11 bud lights.

He had 5 catches for 142 yards and a TD. It was definitely the Bud Lights, lol.

Yup. I’ve said a couple times that that is one box Hurts needs to check off. The first I had was for him to not follow up the good Monday night game with a clunker against Washington. He got that one. Next, he must play great against Dallas. He’s had two bad outings against them so far. Both in Texas. Now he gets them at home. A poor performance won’t cut it. And I agree with you. He’s off to a great start, and expectations have been set. The NFC is not that good top to bottom. We likely will be home the first game. One and done with him playing poorly won’t cut it either.
