Here he's the #2 and gets to match up against the lesser WR... and has been lights out against TEs. That's a very good point. The interception against Lawrence just shows the level of preparation he puts into the game. I just think keeping him gives them more flexibility and they could still invest picks in the position.

October 4, 20222 yr Some random thoughts after watching the all-22. There was a screen pass to Goedert that was a thing of beauty. He blocked until the last possible second, and it looked like the play was a screen to Sanders going the other way. Hurts then pivoted with a DT in his face and hit him perfectly. Quez and AJ Brown had great blocks on the play to give him oodles of room. But the design of the play was great. And credit to Hurts for selling the fake and standing tall knowing he was going to take a hit to make it work. Devin Lloyd was out of position all game, but his play really dropped off after Hurts bulldozed him into the end zone. I will die on the hill that the flag on Goedert was bs. He never engaged the DB, he just stood there. The DB makes no attempt to get around him. Really questionable call. And why isn’t it pass interference on the DB? How can the ref say that the DB didn’t prevent Goedert from running a route? Neither player was trying to go anywhere, so how can there be interference? The flag was also way late. On the Hurts interception he had a RB wide open for a checkdown that goes for big yards, and he had time to go there, but he forced a pass to Pascal in a tight window. I don’t really mind the decision as those are throws top NFL qbs have to make, but in those conditions he had to look for a safer option. On the plus side, we had a hot route on a blitz! The Jags brought six and Hurts threw to Sanders who almost broke it for a big gain. Sanders was also much more decisive this week and followed his blocking much better. No dancing in the hole. I wonder if the light has gone on for him that he isn’t getting an extension if he keeps leaving yards on the table. This week was night and day from last week. We brought Marcus Epps on a safety blitz on the third play of the game and it forced Lawrence to throw to his first read, which went incomplete, when they had a big play available on a mesh route. The Jags never expected it and he came in untouched. It is nice to see us throwing some curveballs on defense. Josiah Scott was up and down. He and McPhearson need to communicate better. But he did have a really nice read on a screen pass that went incomplete, and another breakup when he was 1v1 with Kirk. They decided to leave Graham unblocked on a run play thinking they would fool him. Not a great idea. We also got kind of lucky on a screen where Graham dropped into coverage, and he was in perfect position to blow it up. Imagine thinking you have to block a DB and Graham is coming at you full speed. After Trey Sermon’s big run, they faked to him the next play and Josh Allen came in for a big hit and just kind of bounced off him. Sermon didn’t even flinch. Not sure if this kid has a future, but when you get hit head-on by a 265-pound DE running straight at you and he ends up on the ground, I think that is a good sign. We blitzed 7 on the Lawrence red zone INT. I love the aggressiveness in the red zone. We have the corners to hold up in man in those situations, and it’s tough to run routes to beat man coverage that close to the goal line with limited time. First Wentz and now Lawrence with key turnovers caused by pressure. Zach Pascal had a rough game. We lined him up in the backfield and he false started. And then he dropped an easy completion on a roll out. He has to be better. Overall, some bad drops by us, but every team has them. Overall, a lot of improvement. Obviously the defense was helped by the conditions, but our offense was a lot better in those same conditions. Sanders was better, Opeta and Seumalo were better (nice not having to face two stud DTs) and it was nice to see the WRs blocking on a day when throwing the ball was difficult. There were a lot of extra yards tacked on to runs by their efforts downfield.
October 4, 20222 yr This is a huge week for the Eagles regarding other teams that impact us. Giants probably losing to the Packers in London. Hoping Seattle gets the upset and beats the Saints would be huge. And Dallas at Rams. We need Dallas to lose this game and be ready to send them to 3-3 in week 6.

You have a top shelf OL with a great set of weapons, running game, defense, etc. Making the playoffs with a cupcake schedule and getting blown out in the playoffs or looking like garbage shouldn't move the needle for anyone. There are things Hurts hasn't been doing which just may be necessary for the team to win a Championship. He is not dropping back and making multiple reads. He has done well executing what are I think primarily one and 2 read type throws. That being said, he is making accurate throws that are getting to receivers on time. At the same time, we are talking about 2 very good passing games out of 4. The question remains as to how he will perform against top tier defenses. If the team isn't sucessful, in part, because of how he plays in the playoffs, then why give him an extension that would make him a top 5 to 10 paid QB. At the same time, if he's confident in his ability to continue to improve, he shouldn't take a below market deal. I think the real issue is that part of his success is tied to his running ability. It is a big reason the team can run from spread sets and out of 11 personnel. I think it raises a real questions as to when and whether health and durability may limit his play. I don't think a QB like Burrow or Herbert has those concerns. Certainly whatever deal Lamar may get and Murray's deal provide some guideance. I don't think either are exactly comparable.

October 4, 20222 yr Loved the Dickerson pick when they made it. He was a monster at Bama. I'm always pro building on the lines, hell I wouldn't be mad if they invested another high pick there next draft because of Seumalo's status. I want the Eagles to not just have a good OL, but a truly dominant and deep one. Having that gives you such a leg up. Keep investing there. Dickerson and Jurgens the last two years.

Rams look terrible and Dallas has a really good defense, which is the biggest reason they are 3-1. When we play them that's what worries me. I don't think they will score their usual 30 or 40 against us but we might struggle vs their defense.

Kupp is going to give that Dallas secondary all they can handle. Also im honestly not that worried about Dallas on Sunday night. Just have a feeling this is a game Eagles will not lose no matter what. I think Eagles win by double digits.

We go 13-4 with the #1 seed and host GB in the second round. We end up losing that game 35-26, Hurts is just okay with 1 rushing TD, 1 passing TD, 1 INT. Do you go all in on 2023 draft, trade for 1st overall and try and trade Hurts? After the replies that the 2023 QB class isn't good then I would hope they don't force a pick at QB Eagles highest single season passing record is only 4039 (Wentz). I say only because that's usually not in the top 10 for passing leaders in the league nowadays I'd worry that he would be just another QB that does well in the regular season but not in the playoffs
October 4, 20222 yr The only 2023 QB I've been super impressed by is Bryce Young and he's built like a small WR. I'm for trying to get an extra 2024 1.

So youre focused on landing another QB in the 1st round? Why do we want to keep trading in to next years 1st based on QB prospects? If Hurts can keep up his level of performance we should be focused on getting younger along the DL, and CB. Id like to address DE, CB, and DT in the first 2 rounds. Id love an additional 3rd to address RB, and hopefully a good backup QB.

Brown is more expensive on the cap and cost draft capital as well. So, adding Robinson would have also allowed us to add a first round pick, a third round pick and have more money to sign another free agent. I think that Brown is still the right move, but the comparison is very different than strictly one player versus the other. If it were, its a no-brainer. Even with the extra pieces adding Robinson would have enabled, I think the answer still leads to making the move for Brown, but it's not as big of a landslide.

I’ve never been married but have had my share of naggy GFs. It gets old and unbearable fast.
