One year versus many years. Easy choice for the pick

Who says that pick makes us perennial Super Bowl contenders? Chances are it doesn't.

Someone the other day mentioned the Giants’ throwbacks being the best uniform in football, or something like that.

Everyone is playing for second place behind these bad boys.

Better odds than a one seed gives you…

this is all about probabilities and rare talent. The 1 pick gives you the best shot at a peyton manning or luck etc

A pick with a chance to turn this team into an elite contender or #1 seed for an unproven team vs top competition. We're an elite QB from being a perennial contender again. If hurts ends up being that we need an elite DE

The draft is fascinating. It has gotten so big that people over value it. It's an exciting event. Watching your team pick. It's great. But I'm half convinced some people would take the #1 pick over a spot in the Super Bowl. And that just makes no sense.

Read the hypothetical though. It’s to lock one in right now. The realistic chance of the Saints getting #1 overall is much lower than the Eagles getting the #1 seed. So I’d much rather lock in the Saints are the worst team in the NFL and let the season play out for the #1 seed. Worst case scenario is the team still makes the playoffs, just not #1 seed, and still has a chance to make the SB.

#1 is a nice debate topic.

Hard to imagine it happening with the Texans, Steelers, Panthers, Falcons, Bears, Command Strips, Raiders, and Jets in the mix.

Big difference.  But still not a great sign.

Complete overreaction. It was 100% obvious that the Eagles would sign a kicker to the practice squad this week, just to give him a chance to actually practice with Lovato and Siposs for a few days in the event that he would be needed on Sunday if Elliott can’t go. It’s a routine procedure for teams with injured kickers. It happens all the damn time. In fact it would be derelict if they went through the week without a backup only to find that Elliott can’t go. Then you have to face a situation like we had in 2017 at Dallas when Jake was injured on the opening kickoff and we had to spend the entire game going for two after every touchdown and having Kanu Grugier-Hill kick off. It worked out that night but that’s not a comfortable three hours of football.

This signing doesn’t speak at all to the severity of Elliott’s injury, only that he has one. Which we already knew anyway.

They were going to sign one. They did. Routine business decision. No need to panic.

Gotta disagree. I always thought that old Patriots logo was kinda corny.

Until such time as we get our Kellys in play.

I agree. The Saints are better than all of those teams besides the Raiders, imo. They’re also probably better than the Giants, Colts, Lions, Pats, and Seahawks. Might even be missing another team or 2. I’ll be happy if we can squeak into the top 10. Realistically, I’m expecting somewhere between pick 12-16.

The Saints have a brutal schedule. They may not be as bad as a lot of other teams, but they don't have nearly as many games against bad teams, either. It's tough to see more than four more wins for them if they lose this week.

Where in Europe are you going so we can live vicariously?

A small village in southern France. My wife’s family has a house in a village of 70 people (Arguenos). 5 days there, 4 days in Paris, then 3 days in Prague

Nah.  Not an overreaction.  It is what I said.  It's not a great sign, but not nearly as bad as the initial (incorrect) report that they'd signed a kicker to the 53.   That would have been a really bad sign.   This is a sign that it is a little more than a minor tweak and they won't be having Elliot practicing this week, as you said, which calls his availability into question for Sunday.   So, not necessarily a bad sign, but definitely not a great one either.

If it ended today we're picking 4th. Real shot to get Anderson.

Love Anderson. But it's trending towards a Hurts extension which means cap space will be extremely limited.
May need to trade back for multiple picks.

FA starter's on defense: Bradberry, CGJ, Epps, Edwards, White, Cox, Graham, Hargrave

Oh that's well done.  Great soundtrack for Moneyball.  Explosions in the Sky has some pretty good music fitting to sports movies.  Their music was used for Friday Night Lights.  Just that music can give you some feels.

I love Explosions in the Sky...the Refused as the song they came out to for the State championship was perfect as well.

Good call on the Refused.  I read the book when I was in high school and that movie captures a lot of it.  One of my top football movies for sure.

Houston and carolina at the top right now and both need a qb

others remain to be seen. Detroit and washington need one. Maybe giants. Colts and seahawks absolutely

Yes, I know that. And 50-some yards more than any of the running backs. He's the only running threat they have.

I have a feeling Detroit will stick with Goff, but those other 6 teams will for sure look for a new QB high in the draft. Which is why if that Saints pick is as low as we think it could be, it will be prime trade bait for one of those 6 teams. I would be all for trading back to 12 or so, and picking up a 2nd and a 4th/5th in 2023 and another 1st in 2024

Small critique..I wish they had used the intro to new noise a little better, been a while but IIRC they only used about half of it.  The tension they could have built up, then again The Shape of Punk to Come is one of my fav albums ever and IMO one of the most influential albums ever for the genres it started.  So I knew exactly when 'CAN I SCREAM' was gonna drop.  There's a full 1:07 before that sonic blast happens in the full song.

Eagles with the #1 pick in the draft EASILY!

Going to Vikings, Green Bay, Tampa, etc doesnt scare me. Unless they some how put Buffalo or KC in the NFC, Give me the 1st pick

Gotta go HFA throughout playoffs with #1 seed. I mean the whole point is to win the superbowl and you want the most advantages you can get in order to get that done. I'll take #1 seed with a #5 pick every time.
