Too bad for JP. On the other hand, McGovern is coming off a high-ankle sprain.

The Dallas OL is in shambles. I predicted this and, as my times being right are so infrequent, I have to crow about this.

Right. Hurts obviously has leadership qualities, but Kelce is the man on offense.

And the thing is, if you’re saving all that money on a QB, you can actually build a strong veteran leadership outside of the QB. Will a QB’s leadership matter as much if you always have a couple veteran guys like Kelce in the huddle?

I don’t know the answer, but some intrepid GM is eventually going to find out.

Only if the veteran leadership is on board with that kind of untested roster building philosophy.   If not, it could work very much in the opposite direction.

Context

The NFL had to add an extra playoff spot for the Eagles to get in.

This is also true and under those same rules Wentz didnt get in

This isn't about hurts it the eagles it's about Wentz and whether or not he was part of the problem in Indy, I say he wasnt part of the solution so he was part of the problem.

Bacarty disagrees and for some reason you are fanning the flames 🤔

But isn’t that part of the definition of leadership? A guy who is going to get on board with the franchise philosophy and lead the team?

Yup.  Sad but true.  And frankly, the golden age of the NFL seems to be in the rear view mirror now as well.

NFL Network has access to ALL of the old NFL Films stuff (because the NFL bought out NFL Films)...  and could really do themselves a great service by running them in the offseason.  But, as we see with all these alternate jerseys, they'd rather create something new than bring back something old.

Can't bring back John Facenda.

Alas.

Seems Dougie P set up that leadership council or whatever he called it and it's been a positive structure

Wonder how many other teams have sinething like tjat implemented.

If so if the leaders in that council arent good leaders the structure won't matter

Eagles I think are very fortunate to have a sound structure and also solid peoole within that structure.

Very true.   I would have LOVED to hear the 2017 season narrated by that voice.    His voice, probably more than anything else, is what first ever drew me to the NFL.   Those pipes will never be duplicated.

I merely pointed out that the offensive line was the same mess last year that it is this year.

Not necessarily.  A leader isn't someone who just gets in and stays in lock step with the franchise philosophy.  For example, that same leadership council came to Doug and told him to rely more on the run during the 2017 season.  A leader, sometimes, has to buck the company line.  But, if the company line is switching up the QB... bucking that is almost impossible without completing overturning the apple cart.

Phillies are in trouble.

Wow.  Got a big double play.   Can see their way out of this inning now.

Slay and Seumalo don't have game designations.

Mailata being D is curious but I don't expect he'll play.

Wheeler got two ground balls to Boehm... and they got out of the inning with 0 runs surrendered.  Well done.

Kelce and Johnson would both be higher on the offensive leader hierarchy.

I think there's a distinct role for a QB as opposed to any OL on the field. The QB has to communicate the plays, make sure everyone is set correctly, call the audibles and execute.  If leadership requires trust, a qb that doesn't do those things isn't going to garner the trust of teammates.  That's not to say that people won't listen to Kelce or Lane.  It's just that Hurts has a lead role on the field.

I would imagine leadership in the locker room is probably different.  It does seem like players respect him and his effort.  I don't think we will get the stories we got about Wentz from the locker room.

Really need the top of the lineup to do something. Currently our 1-5 hitters are 0-13 with 3Ks

I may have to update my pickem choice lol

Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Yup. I’ve watched about 130-135 of the 162 games this year. This lineup is so maddening cause they have enough hitting but they seem to all collectively slump at the same time and collectively get hot at the same time. It feels like it’s never one slumps another two pick it up

add on our bullpen besides Alvarado since knebel and dominguez got hurt has really been inconsistent game to game

Nate Burleson took on the comments from Kyle Brandt and scorched the earth more.  Not pretty if you are Wilson.

Yes it is, Matt Pryor should be no where near a football field ever , he should be banned for life from ever watching or attending a football game or even saying the word football.

That still doesn't absolve Wentz of the role he played in the colts failure

It's a team sport they all failed, fairly or not the QB takes the brunt of the blame when things go awry and the praise fairly or not when things go well.

Having said that one could make the case that had his o line been better would it have mattered ?

We've seen with good o line play in Wash he still holds the ball doesn't see the field has atrocious pocket awareness and anytime a defender gets near him he's a matt Ryan fumble machine.

Like I said if you're not part of the solution your part of the problem.

How much of the problem is debatable and as said fairly or not qbs shoulder more than their fair share of fault.

That'll do it. Cardinals have an insurmountable lead

Looks like no Michael Thomas & Winston again this week

That might be ball game.

Still the voice I associate with NFL films and it's been almost 40 years since he died.

Yup good old Phillies bullpen. It’s been a disaster since about the dbacks series. Sadly Alvarado has been the best and he came up small today.
