I don't have a side on this but claiming that umps are superior is weak sauce.

They are a protected class that does not have to be competent. Probably 35% of these umps are worse at balls and strikes than college umps.

No one can do anything about it. M:B officials worship is an extreme cold take.

Have to provide more evidence to counter the opposition's argument than "Umps are flawed". Call was made on the field. Call was reviewed and upheld. If your argument is "well I saw the instant replay on TV" then that's not holding up.

Not exactly filling me with confidence...

I forgot what playoff baseball anxiety is as it’s been 11 years since I’ve had to experience it. But now I fully remember it.

I said earlier. I don't give a crap about your argument.

Anytime you are using the superior skills of MLB umps to support your argument you are doing it wrong.

They are the least qualified professionals in all of sports. They have no accountability so why even bother to be good?

The counter has been made, to which you have no answer.  The umpire on the field was in the wrong spot.  Then the review took the weakest of positions... call stands.  They weren't going to overturn it when it was that close.  MLB wants a Game 3.  Don't think that they don't have those things in mind making those calls in NY.

strike three

So you, from your couch, are more qualified based on watching a couple instant replays on television?

Will Anderson is a 1 of 1 pass rusher. WOW

Now your arguement is conspiracy theories?

Dominguez is making it worse.

You from your couch gain nothing by pretending the umps have godlike skills of processing information.

They are old and out of shape pampered morons. They are the worst people in all of sports and we all know it.

Its like saying the no-call in that Rams-Saints NFCCG was a good call because those guys are pros. LOL

Time for an insurance run or two.

My argument is that the umpire on the field screwed up in his positioning.  Everything after that depends on the call on the field.  Because the 'no decision' decision is based on whatever the dope on the field said, even though he was clearly in the wrong place and had no chance to see the play where he was.   After that, nothing matters to your answer.  They didn't say the call was 'confirmed' in NY, they said, "call stands".  And when there is a close call, they can lean to that call stands and be 'safe' with that decision.

My argument hasn't changed.  The ump on the field got it wrong because he couldn't see the play.  NY backed him up with the call stands, but wouldn't go so far as to say 'call confirmed'.  It was a questionable call, and the umpire on the field, highly trained as he is, messed up in the basics of positioning to see the whole play.  After that, none of the rest matters.

But, thank you for giving me something to focus on rather than freaking out as Dominguez made that inning far too exciting.   (In all seriousness... I needed a distraction.)

Ok.

The good news from all that stress and ugliness of that inning is that their big guns are out of the way.

Its still the Phillies bullpen but that's something.

Yep, the ninth and it’s gonna be about a decade off my life. Ive come to terms that it’s gonna take 10 years off my life.

Ok. Well he was called out. That won't change.

And he shouldn't have gone for second either... but debating this with you is lowering my stress right now.
