He’s not hurt. I thought Bo Wulf brought up an interesting point that he seemed more irritated than usual in the locker room after the game and with them taking him off the field every time they went with 12 or 13 was almost like a punishment because they didn’t like something about his blocking.

Makes sense. He has some struggles with mental illness too I think I read somewhere. Maybe was having an off day.

Amazing insight. Who woulda thunk that?

Tariq Woolen has been playing really well for the Seahawks. What a 5th round steal he is going to turn out to be. Really wanted him.

Any insight on why AJB was a ghost last game? Especially in the 2nd half. Was he hurt?

From Sirianni's presser on Monday.

Q. I know that you can’t get everybody the ball a ton every week, but WR A.J. Brown yesterday, three catches on the opening drive and then no catches the rest of the game. Why was it that that was the way things played out yesterday? (Bo Wulf)

NICK SIRIANNI: There are going to be times where — obviously we still have plays called for [WR] A.J. [Brown], right? It wasn’t like, all right, he got us three and this is the week [TE] Dallas [Goedert] gets a lot and this is the week that [WR] DeVonta [Smith] gets a lot. We have things called for him, and a ball might get batted, which happened yesterday. Or there might be a pressure off the edge and [WR] Jalen [Hurts] is about to step into the throw and make the throw to him and it doesn’t happen. Somebody might come free on a play that they had too many guys — we didn’t have enough guys in protection, and he has to scramble and make a play. So, there are definitely plays being called for him, and it’s the same thing with DeVonta the first game. We had a lot things called for DeVonta that first game, five or six things that just didn’t end up getting completed. That’s the way the game goes sometimes. You always want your receivers and your tight ends and your playmakers to want to get the ball in their hands because that’s one of the reasons why they’re big-time playmakers, is because they crave the ball, they need the ball, they want the ball. So that’s nothing — we know he wants that football, and we have to do whatever we can to get it to him, but sometimes the flow of the game doesn’t allow you to do that. That’s kind of what happened yesterday. Kind of like — I said it with DeVonta in week one. It was almost like a perfect storm of how it happened, and we didn’t get him the ball, and that’s kind of the same case here. But make no mistake about it, our pass game runs through those three guys, and that’s what you’re seeing week in and week out. I think A.J. is in the top five in receiving yards, and he’ll continue to be on that because we’ll continue to try to feature him in the pass game.

Makes you wonder how a guy with his physical attributes fell as far as he did.

The beats have been pretty bad about who the Eagles are trying out on try out Tuesdays this year.

I feel like that’s a poorly framed question. It’s not about why didn’t the ball go to him, it’s more about why was he on the field less than DeVonta and only 11 snaps more than Quez. I don’t expect the answer to change or be more informative but that’s the more curious thing, imo.

I have no clue. I’d have to watch the all 22. Haven’t watched it yet.

Didn't he have a holding penalty when sanders ran it in for a TD?

Fetterman has soup for brain.

Dallas week...

Lots of questions.

Who plays QB for Dallas?  Cooper Rush, whom they trust just enough to not let him lose the game for them... or Dak, coming off the thumb surgery?    Likely Rush.  Defense needs to bring it and stop the run... force Rush to beat us.

Who plays QB for the Eagles?  Is it the QB from the Lions game who seemed scared to pass the ball to anyone not named Brown?  The QB from the past week, that seemed unable/unwilling to throw anything but a WR screen against the blitz?   Or the guy that picked apart the Vikings, who sat back in a soft shell zone... or the QB that played against Washington and played very well?

Given that his level of play seems very dependent on the defense he's facing... and knowing that Dallas has a ferocious pass rush, I am concerned for the offense's ability to sustain drives.   I expect that Hurts will struggle in the passing game and will try to revert to a runner to beat the blitz, like he did against the Lions.

This is going to be an uncomfortable game where every first down for the Eagles' offense will feel like a major struggle.  Eagles D holds Dallas out of the end zone, but gives up 4 FGs.   Eagles offense punches into the end zone only once, but Dicker the Kicker puts up 4 FGs and the legend grows.

@LeanMeanGM  (Thanks for doing this each week)

Eagles - 19
Cowboys - 12

Bonus... Hurts ends with more rushes than completions.

Blood relative of yours?

BTW... as big a game as the Eagles-Cowboys is this week, the appetizer might be even better.   Bills-Chiefs at 4:20 PM.  Rematch of last year's real AFC Championship game (ironically, that game took so much away from the winner that they had no chance to win the following week).  It was that game last year, and the toll it took on the Chiefs that opened the door to the Bengals... which ultimately opened the door for the Rams.   The Rams really owe their Super Bowl win to the AFC Death Match playoff tournament.    This year may play out similarly, and really leaves the door open to the NFC representative to take advantage again.  Last year's Super Bowl matchup was so weird having 2 4 seeds match up.

Good point from Chris Canty just now.

This game goes a long way in the decision to extend Jalen Hurts or not.

No it doesn’t.  It’s week 6.  Chris Canty is a dope.

Think of it from this perspective.

Hurts is 0-3 against the Cowboys.

He is our potential franchise QB. He needs to be able to beat Dallas.

The eagles are 5-0 but still need some signature win. We all know they havent come even close to playing 4 quarters in any game yet.

You have Dallas coming TO Philly, with a backup QB. You want to win the division, you HAVE to win that game.

If he loses this one, thats a major red flag against re-signing him.

We all know the recent history against Dallas, with Hurts as QB.  I'll tell you the same thing I have been telling the Hurts squirters all along.  It is a TEAM game.  The QB can only control so much.  If the defense ish the bed or the playcalling was as bad as it was this past week, that's not on Hurts.  If the O line falls apart because of injuries, that's not on Hurts.  They lose this week to Dallas but finish 13-4 and make it to the NFCCG, this game doesn't matter.  The season is very fluid.  Buffalo lost to Miami.  Buffalo is now road favorites at KC this week.  Each week/game stands on it's on.  Once again, too much is being made about a game on week 6.  Of course we want to win.  But if we don't it's not the end of the world and it doesn't close the book on Hurts this year.  Win or lose.

There is a lot of hype surrounding that Dallas defense and Parsons who is talked about like he is the next LT.

Dallas is hot.

If Hurts plays well with a banged up OL facing off against Parsons, and hangs a big point total on that defense you can really begin to feel good about him again.

This is a statement game.

If they are 5-0 coming off 2 ugly wins, and lose a very important divisional game at home to a team with its backup QB, then the eagles start to look like pretenders.

If Hurts struggles in this game against a good opponent he really looks like hes not the guy for the future.

There is a big statement to be made, either way. Its either going to be very positive or very negative. Both for the team overall, and for Hurts himself.
