  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

  • Listen up blog.  Enough. These 2 ass clowns are suspended for 2 weeks.  They've both had warnings to quit the personal attacks.  There's a line between trash talk and just abusing other posters a

There are different tiers of NFL opponents as well.  Let's not pretend that all NFL teams are created equal.

Yep

Now you’re pulling a "Bacarty and RTK” with the victimization by using the term, "blog”.   You made the college comp.  Not the blog.

Discussion has already morphed.  I didn't do that.

Yeah.  Not arguing anything about outweighed anything.

The point was that this was a statement game that will go a long way in the decision making process.

Can't help what way the blog morphs the discussion.

You are correct... How Hurts performs in this game will be a major deciding factor in whether or not Hurts will be extended.   There are only so many opportunities with this schedule for Hurts to prove that he's grown against legit NFL defenses.

The Lions' D is a pathetic mess.  And when he got in trouble with their pass rush... he ran.
The Vikings' D played a soft zone the entire game and never varied from that and he picked it apart, but he had no pressure on him in that game.  Clean pockets all day.
The Washingteam D got after him a little bit, and he handled it pretty well, but again, they are also a pretty bad defense.
The Jags game was bad conditions and they gutted out a win in the mire and mess.  That's nice, but not exactly a game to hang his hat on.
Against the Cards', they were so afraid of the pass rush and the zone defense behind it that they put the offense into a shell and didn't really do much in the passing that equates to an NFL offense.  13 WR screens is a ridiculously high number.

Looking ahead, Dallas has a legit defense.  And more importantly, a strong pass rush.  Does he stare at the pass rush and bail, or does he hang in and make them pay with his arm, not his legs.

Who else on the schedule has a defense that would be top tier?   Looking across the league, I think the top defenses are (not necessarily in this order): SF, Buf, Dal, Den, TB.  We see only one of them, but we see them twice.  No one else on the schedule left would be considered a top 10 defense.  If I am missing a team, I'd love to be corrected.

This game has massive implications, not just for this team's playoff seeding this season, but also for Hurts' future.   Yeah, its only Week 6... but it's also a game that this team should win given their QB situation... and one of very few true tests for how much growth Hurts really has made since last season.  QBs and coaches that can't win the 'big games' generally don't get that long to prove it.  This is one of few opportunities Jalen will have to prove it this year.  Looks like these two games against Dallas and whatever game(s) that come along in the playoffs might be the only ones.  This game is a big one.

A clean stat line from Hurts would be a solid sign of progression; he had 2 INT and 2 fumbles against DAL in his 2020 start, and 2 INT in his 2021 start vs DAL.

Getting an early lead would allow the Eagles to ground and pound the Turds for most of the 2nd half.

Im going to try and be hopeful that they recognize the mistakes that were made after AZ. I wasnt big at all on this coaching staff coming into the year, but up until the AZ game it seemed that most of our problems have been poor execution and lack of focus mostly in the 2nd half, which is more of an easy fix and not worth a panic button. 2 weeks in a row of terrible play calling would have me more worried.

The play calling that notched a victory?  Taking what the defense gives isn’t always pretty.

This is an absolute must win game.  He has been absolutely wrecked by Dallas in both games he has started against them.

5-0 does not mean much if the Cowboys blow our doors off again.

I think a loss to Arizona last week would have been a good thing going into this game.

That play calling almost notched a loss.  Very conservative and allowed the Cards a final drive to win it at the end.  Eagles were fortunate that the game didn't get to OT, but were one blown coverage away from losing in regulation.   That game was far too reliant on the WR screens.  The game plan wasn't ready for the Cards' zone blitzes and the only answer they seemed to have was 13 WR screens... and 7 QB sneaks.   The coaching staff has to do a better job than that.

Nah. Ya did.  You compared this situation to a college game and why a team would draft a guy or pay him a long term deal.  That’s how it morphed.

I did not say one game outweighs the performance of the entire team.  That was a strawman.

You brought up what a GM might say and I pointed out that it was actually a realistic scenario,  which you did not realize.

So... the photographer hit his head on the concrete... and went to the hospital to get checked for concussion.  Given the state of concussion protocols in the NFL... they have to take this seriously if they want to have any leg to stand on in the future about them actually being concerned about head injuries.  Given the state of things with the Tua situation right now... I think they have to suspend him for a game plus a fine.

They had the blown coverage and were just fortunate Brown dropped the pass. And then later lucky Murray overthrew Ertz.

Cowboys being smart. Sucks.

It’s being overblown by you and Chris Canty.  That’s what I said.  The GM was brought up because he’s involved in the contract discussions that Canty referenced and you endorsed.  It’s week 6. Canty is a dope.

I didn't endorse contact discussions.  It morphed as soon as you misunderstood what you were reading again.

Still can't get over how the bottom of the order (Segura, Vierling, and Sosa) manufactured a run in the top of the fifth (double, bunt, sac fly) that turned out to be the difference in the game.

This feels different.

He never hit his head on the concrete. Court docs says "Push caused whiplash and headache. Possible minor concussion." His book bag actually cushioned his fall and probably prevented him from hitting his head.

@LeanMeanGM  Cowboys 23 Eagles 19. BONUS: Eagles lose the turnover battle.

It reminds me a bit of the Dennis Rodman incident where he kicked the camera man after tripping on his camera as he went out of bounds after a missed free throw.  Rodman ended up settling with the guy for $200K.  The NBA suspended him 11 games (11/82 games would roughly equate to 2 games for an NFL suspension) and fined Rodman $25K.

Some John U Bacon content:

With Matt Rhule out as Carolina Panthers’ HC, keep an eye on Penn State. Rhule is from State College.

PSU HC Franklin’s status has been in limbo on and off, and they have UM-MN-OSU coming up. PSU’s new AD, Patrick Kraft, is a buddy of Rhule’s. Franklin might feel some heat,” John U. Bacon said in a Tweet.
