Sometimes the best moves are the ones not made.

Two first downs was not enough for Carolina Panthers LDE Brian Burns, hmmm....

I don't either. I haven't watched many Panthers game so maybe that's why.  But giving up 2 1's for a guy who has never had a 10 sack season seems extreme.  One first round pick that isn't top 10 for a guy who's had 9 and might get 10 seems on par.

I’m somewhere in the middle on this. I would like to see us go for a big move to make sure we did everything to take us over the top but I don’t feel like we should be giving up the Saints pick either.

I’ll give up that saints pick if it’s in a package for someone like Garrett/Bosa/Watt type deals. I don’t think there’s anyone else really worth it.

Otherwise just give me a veteran rotational pass rusher or a thumping back who can tire the defense and keep Miles fresh.

Burns isn't worth a 1st rounder, let alone 2 of them.

Latest name: Kareem Hunt.

Would you trade say a third? fourth? for the rest of this season?

Yeah probably.

Carolina reportedly rejected an offer of two 1st-round picks for Brian Burns, per Adam Schefter

Carolina now has no intention of trading Burns, Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn and DJ Moore before next Tuesday’s trade deadline.

No shock here. Eagles probably asked, but quickly walked away. The Eagles always ask.

This is like thinking the Eagles need to give up 2 first round picks to basically replace Barnett on the roster. Either way it’s not happening.

I'm not really feeling much need for a trade.

Certainly not for a big costly trade.

The Eagles are good now.

I'd be much more focussed on trying to retain as many of our top potential FA guys as possible.

They are good now, but an injury or two hits and the depth might not be up to par. Burns is definitely worth a 1st round pick and something else. He plays for a crappy team and has been a very good pass rusher hitting double digit sacks. We don't get that from any of our edge guys.

He has never had double digits sacks in a season . He had 9 twice

I stand corrected. But he is an upgrade over all of our current guys on the roster. And the potential is there for even greater things on a better team. If there was a more proven veteran putting up double digit sacks on the market I would target that guy for sure. But a guy on the rise like Burns isn't a bad idea either. At least you know what you are getting with Burns over a future 1st round pick. For every Micah Parsons there are 10x as many Barnett's.

No he's not,

Is the unproven guy next year a better option? Just because he is on a cheaper contract for 4 years?

I just don’t understand that line of thinking. Especially considering Howie’s history with 1st round picks.

I think I would give a 1st  for Burns, but, not a 1st and something else.

Howie failed you...he made a big move just AFTER the bye.  :P

Howie probably delayed to negotiate for them to pay his salary and go from a 3rd to a 4th.  Howie's in full gangsta mode this year.

WOW

Chicago Bears trade DE Robert Quinn to the Eagles the Bears will be picking up most of his remaining salary and only giving up a 4th round pick!

Howie is freaking killing it this season!
I take back anything bad I ever said or wrote about Howie best GM in the NFL & Eagles franchise history!

This is as about as big of a trade we can expect right now.

Great trade.  Now just need a competent safety so Wallace never plays if CJ gets hurt again.

I'd like another decent RB. I know every RB looks good playing for us but if Sanders gets hurt we lose an important part of this offense.

Get Kareem Hunt and I'll be grinning like a Cheshire cat.
