I don't care how they rank it's who they are the last two postseasons in tough games vs AZ and Houston. They don't do the small things to get runs in.

That is what ultimately got them in the postseason last year (along with blind faith in kimbrel). When the homers dried up they just couldn’t get the timely hits with RISP. They hit as a team .226 with RISP in the playoffs. I believe a 30 point drop from the regular season. kind of somewhat expected as facing better pitching. Braves series they hit .219 with RISP. game 2 vs. dbacks they went 5-7, the rest of the series they hit .159 (7-44). outside of game 2 they were .194 (18-93) for nlcs I said this last year and I still believe it, they never really replaced the bat they lost in rhys Hoskins. He hit .292 with RISP in 2022. They added Turner, but Turner was supposed to be a long with Hoskins in the lineup. They still really haven’t replaced his bat. Imo they should go all in on acquiring it.
June 3, 20241 yr Hoskins is an average player at best but would rather have him at first. Harper in right and castellanos gone

Time to trade Castellanos was last offseason. Coming off a solid year. Even if you ate some money it would be worth it to not have to pay the rest of his contract and get someone better out there with what you saved

They avoided arbitration this year signing the 1 year contract to avoid going to arbitration. But it didn’t erase his 2025 arbitration year. So he is still under Astros control for 2025 cause he has a year left of arbitration. He’s not a free agent til 2026. So you are getting him for rest of 2024 and 2025. It’s why when I explained to you that you’re getting him for a year and a half. And why the Astros if they do it now are maximizing whatever value they have left out of him because you’re getting him not just for 2024 but for 2025. The Padres traded Juan Soto with one year left on this contract. The Yankees had to give up one of their better pitching prospects to get him (not their best). And then 2 young major league/prospects. And really the Padres had to settle for that because they had financial obligations issues where they had to take out loans to pay their payroll. So they were at a disadvantage when trying to make that trade because teams knew they had to get off Juan Soto, cause they couldn’t afford him. So if you’re trading with the Astros and you’re getting 1.5 years of service from Kyle Tucker, you’re definitely giving up one of your better prospects (Abel, miller or Crawford) and you’re likely gonna have to give up a second because you’re getting another half season from him. Add on the Astros don’t have to trade him at this deadline they could wait til the offseason. Also likely 3-4 teams going after him if made available that could increase the price. I defer to your superior information. I was unaware of any of that. My bad. Thanks.

He’s fine as a 4th outfielder. Really Castro being terrible hurts them if someone like Sosa and Clemens goes down
June 4, 20241 yr Love Zach but he’s had multiple walks in a game in each of his last 5 starts. And in 8 of 13 starts. a walk in 12 of 13 starts. He is great enough where he can avoid the damage but his walk numbers are really high. been 13 walks in his last 31.1 innings. Last two years he’s walked 39 and 34 guys total. He’s already at 26 in beginning of June.
