June 9, 20241 yr Not a reason they lost today but realmuto has been brutal this year with RISP. He’s worse this year with RISP than he was last year. He’s hitting .178 as opposed to 2023 where he hit .205. To his credit he’s hitting .321 with no one on which is an increase from .267 last year.
June 9, 20241 yr You can't win every game but does it seems like the last 5 to 7 losses, the Phillies gave those games away? Not like they were beaten?
June 9, 20241 yr It happens but always sucks to blow a lead in the 9th. Back on the horse on Tuesday.
June 9, 20241 yr Nats are destroying the Braves. I think the Nats are 5-2 vs. Atlanta this year and if they win would be 6-2

June 9, 20241 yr So I wasn't expecting a win because it was a Walker start. However, when you're up 3-0 and then 4-3 in the 7th, you need to win the game, especially against a scrub team like the Mets. Thomson's decision to put Soto into the game instead of Strahm doesn't make me feel any better about our Manager when it comes to postseason decision making. Soto should only be put into games when they are up 10 runs or down 10 runs.

He really should be optioned to the minors and let him work out his crap in the minors like they did with Alvarado. this has been going on since the beginning of last year. He’s solid for two or three appearances and then right after bad two or three appearances. It’s been consistently that way. He has the stuff to be really good, but he clearly isn’t figuring it out. If this was like Dominguez, who has seemingly had the lightbulb go off, then I’d be like you know what he’s making progress. But he’s getting worse and he’s been worse than he was last year. So send him down there and let him figure crap out down there because he’s not helping you right now .

Watching Walker pitch at 7am on a Sunday, this dude better pitch a shutout so help me I'm not sure if anyone else answered this, but the ads were for the London games only.

Just clarifying That's what they said on the radio broadcast. The Build Submarines will be gone when they get back. As an aside, I looked up the website, and it is a company that builds actual submarines. Like someone is watching the game and decides they need a 500-foot sub that's a billion dollars!
June 10, 20241 yr After a night of sleep it does feel like it was quite a bad loss. Leads blown twice by the pen and runners left on base on several key situations including the 1st and 9th innings where the game could/would have been won. Hard to complain too much given the position of the team but let's hope this is a one off. We don't want to see a bunch of these.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they look sluggish in the first game in Boston. Plus you got 3 with the orioles to end the road trip. The o’s are playing well. So another playoff type team. tbh I’m really curious to see how the Phillies look from July to mid August. That part of their schedule is really tough. They have 3 at Chicago, 3 at Atlanta, 3 vs. dodgers, 3 vs. A’s, 3 at pirates, 3 at twins, 3 vs. Cleveland, 3 vs. Yankees, 3 at Seattle, 3 at dodgers and 4 at dbacks. That 34 game stretch is largely against teams currently in the playoff field (24 of the 34 games are against current playoff teams)

Overall, they are going to hit a period where they are going to lose a bunch of games. They just can't and won't keep this pace up. The ideal spot for that would be in July to mid August. That gives them six full weeks to build back momentum heading into the playoffs.
June 10, 20241 yr Basically was hoping for a split anyway. Sweep would have been nice but its such a weird series with all the extra stuff and travel, etc. Sucks Jose blew it but they still had a chance to win at the end. Every single loss this season feels like we clawed back and had a chance to win it. Oh well, cant win em all. I still think this pace is actually sustainable just because of the starting pitching. It's just been so outrageously good that we are in every single game.
June 11, 20241 yr Looking at the standings, the Phillies are one of 4 (!) teams in the National League above .500. Everyone else is below .500, although there's 8 teams in the NL within 5 games of .500. In all of Major League Baseball, there are 10 teams above .500, with the Red Sox sitting on .500 exactly. Are the Phillies and these other teams all just that much better than the rest of the league?

Are the Phillies and these other teams all just that much better than the rest of the league? I think the Phillies, dodgers and brewers are the 3 best teams in the NL. The Braves losing strider and acuna are pretty big losses. Frankly in their last 40 games Atlanta is 18-22. Since acuna’s injury they are 5-8. I think eventually they'll be fine (especially cause acuna wasn’t having a great year) and they’ll likely make a trade to help with the loss of acuna. I do think without those two they are behind the dodgers and Phillies. as for the Phillies, I think they are equal to the dodgers. Phillies record is better but I don’t think the gap is that big. I like our bullpen depth better and our starting rotation but the dodgers rotation is right there. Their bullpen is good. Imo i think the dodgers lineup is slightly better. It’s super closer. Anytime you can have betts, freeman and ohtani all in a row that’s pretty ridiculous. Then you add muncy and will smith it’s a really formidable lineup. Also Hernandez is having a really good year so far for them. Comparatively the dodgers are 4th in average, 1st on base, 2nd in runs, 3rd in homers, 3rd in slugging. The Phillies are 5th in average, 3rd in on base, 1st in runs, 6th in homers and 6th in slugging. Getting Turner back and trading for an outfielder likely could push the Phillies past the dodgers lineup wise imo we are going to find out how great the Phillies can be in July and beginning of august. During that 34 game stretch you play 15 games against first place teams, 24 against current playoff teams (cubs were tied before the night for last wild card) and 21 games against teams currently over .500. Just before the trade deadline they face Cleveland and Yankees at home. Two of the best in the AL. I would really love to get a big name OF but i think we likely going to see something like a sterling marte type of addition and maybe another rp. But this stretch is a brutal type stretch for any team. I’m curious to see how the Phillies do. I think they are capable of going 20-14 or better. But if they can go 19-15 i think you’d have to be pretty impressed.
