Official Philadelphia Phillies Thread - Still can't hit for crap

Stop it. They can’t cheat in your ballpark.

They are a way better team than the Braves or padres.  They got lucky with the game 1 comeback…when your top 2 pitchers can’t get it done, it doesn’t bode well for the series.

no and if they dont focus on pitching in the offseason we'll probably wont be so lucky next year.

They made it a year early. If they had known they would have gone more in. The problem is nothing is guaranteed as the 12 year absence shows us.

We had our Nick Foles magic moment, but if that was a best of seven series it wouldn't have worked out as it did. I hate the media being right but the only way for them to win is to be perfect and that isn't them. They make a ton of mistakes and have been lucky nobody capitalized until now. I do the reverse jinx thing, but I'm being serious the next few may rip our hearts out.

Agreed.  I really don’t see them winning 3 of the next 5.  But this was a memorable run and if they make the right moves they can get back here next year and be better positioned to win it.

Get Abel, Painter or McGarry up next year (or more than one of them).........

Let's not give up on the Phillies blowing it just yet.

I don't think I would say (if they lose) they are "blowing it"....that Astros team is deep, experienced and honestly just better.  Can the Phillies still win?  Sure!  I just think it's a real longshot is all.....but totally 100% loving their run and playoff baseball.

Yeah, that line of thinking is built on the reverse jinx thingy

It’s easy to hit when you know what pitch is coming

McCullers has had a good year but it’s been a small sample size for sure. He’s historically a decent pitcher. We’re not facing DeGrom or something here though it’s a very winnable game.

Well at least one team will win in Houston this week

What’s nice is we’ve actually seen him when we had to win to get in. So it’s not the first time like it’s going to be Javier. I’d say it didn’t work with framber but really the Phillies kind of went through the motions on the last day of the year

This is series is not going back to Houston

You think the Astros are going to win three straight in Philly?

This is exactly the trick I thought you were pulling on us. Classic Joey Sunshine: You just never know when the doom-and-gloom might be flipped on you.🤪

Ideally would love to see the Phillies win 3 in a row at home against the Astros to win the title. The Astros have only lost 3 in a row 3 times all season and last time was end of July (other two much earlier in the season).  they have been swept by a team in a 3 game series once this year which surprisingly was to the A’s.

I look at it this way the Phillies have to at least take 2 out of 3 at home to give themselves a chance to win the World Series. They cannot be going back to Houston down 3 to 2 because I don’t see us winning both game six and game seven in Houston.  if you are up 3-2 heading into game 6 that’s the game they really need to end it. Game 7 is going to be an issue for us.  game 3 is massive. if they lose game 3 then you likely in a spot where you have to try to win 3 in a row vs. Astros with Suarez, nola and Wheeler going the next 3 games. Cause game 7 you would be in a situation where youd have Suarez on short rest or a bullpen game for game 7 meanwhile they’d have McCullers on normal rest.

hoping we sweep the Astros at home but I think just 2 out of 3 at home gives us a shot in game 6 to bring home the trophy

The Astros hit around our top 2 starters….it may get ugly against Syndergaard and Ranger

Tbh that’s what really scares me a lot. The fact we had our two best and they hit them. I actually think Ranger can give us a quality start. I think his confidence is sky high right now. I’m more worried about syndergaard tomorrow. That said during the regular season syndergaard had two starts against the Astros. He’s 1-0 with a 2.89 era in 9.1 innings. Although had 6 walks and 4 Ks.

Is that a pornstar or some $hit?

The winner of tonight’s game will win the series.

No....... she's a gal that does hula hooping....... someone on the old board sent her Eagles boots..... that she did a video wearing them...... but if I understand correctly..... someone on the old board went over the line with her.

Pretty gal.... talented too. Shame someone scared her off.

Idk, that doesn't worry me any more than I already was.

Also, wheeler and nola were clearly not at their best in their two starts. They both threw complete clunkers and had control issues. Not taking anything away from the Astros but it's not like they were at their absolute best and still got rocked.
