Defense and base running are abysmal

Terrible decisions there.

I say this a lot. But it’s amazing to me that they’ve been so bad at base running since Gabe Kapler was the manager. That is like almost 7 years of just bad base running.

One more.

I give credit to the bullpen. The bullpen was phenomenal tonight. the biggest issue I think the Phillies are going to have is what is their offense can do when the home run isn’t there. They won tonight because they hit two home runs. At some point in time, you can’t just rely on home runs to just be there throughout the playoffs. You saw that in the playoffs last year it got them. You have to be able to drive in guys without hitting home runs

Agreed, they had a couple of scenarios today where a bunt was probably your best play to easily get guys over because they were playing off. They need to do what you said get guys over an means necessary and kruk said

The hays at bat where they got the double play is where they should’ve bunted marsh over the third. The insurance run with 1 out is more important than trying to hit a two run homer with no outs. If you bunt him over, he’s at third with Schwarber and Turner coming up. That gives you two chances to get an extra run to make it a two run game. You have to be smarter than that. It’s why I hate when they go into extra innings and they all they need is the one run to win and they don’t bunt the guy over the third. The percentages tell you you’re the bigger chance at winning if you just get the guy over the third with one out then free swinging with no outs

Yes that was the play! It's ridiculous that they don't but there. Then again we have seen this team bunt and it's not very good.

Probably should’ve put Rojas in to bunt in that circumstance. He’s done it more than hays. And he’s a defensive replacement anyway.

Huge win. Now you just have to be able to get at least one more with your three big guns going, don’t ya?

We need schwarber, Turner and Harper to start doing things. Castellanos has been great since June. And they’ve found a way to win tonight with them not doing much. But schwarber is 5-27 (.185) with 1 HR (March), Turner is 6-34 (.176) (0 for last 14 vs. Braves) and Harper is 2-25 (.080) with 0 HRs against Atlanta this year.

Lol

I kind of rather play Rojas everyday and Marsh and Hays platoon.... What do you think?

With how Rojas has hit since the all star break I’m for it. hays is a platoon player and so is marsh. If Rojas reverts back then fine play the other two more. But right now Rojas if he’s gonna start 1 game every 6 games then he should be in the minors playing every day so he can get better. He doesn’t need to start every game but it should be more than 1 game every 6 when he’s been good since the AS break

Agreed. The key now is for those three to find their groove again.

Actually concern about the lack of power for Harper and schwarber. Schwarber is on pace to have nearly 12 less HRs this year and really struggling since the 3 HR game. He’s going to hit the least amount of HRs since 2021 unless he gets going. And Harper has had 2 HRs in 29 games. They need them hitting for power especially in the playoffs. Those are your two big power guys.

100%. They can scratch another W or even two in this series with their pitching but long term they won’t win if the power guys don’t start hitting again.

We did it!!!

Hats off to Castellanos.  Without his consistent (did I actually use that word with him?) hitting over the last nearly three months we would not have much of a lead in the East.

Love how the dog at the end runs to the mound trying to get the pitcher to throw the ball to play fetch
