September 24, 20242 yr Last time we won the division I was a senior in college. Now I'm married with two kids despite still posting on this message board that whole time. Glad we finally won it, but somewhat meaningless if we don't at least make a WS appearance.
September 24, 20242 yr Nola has to be our #3 in Oct despite his propensity to lay an egg every few outings as Ranger shows no signs of being the guy from the first half of the season.

Tbh i was actually encouraged by ranger’s velocity last start. It was better than any point in time since coming back from the injury. That said his command just wasn’t where it needs to be or where it was early in the year. jayson stark was on 975 saying the Phillies were leaning toward Sanchez going game 2. I think it’s likely cause his dominance at home and just being more consistent down the stretch then nola

It has to be Sanchez at this point.

But, they are right there record wise. Justa game or so away from the bye. They have a good record against the Dodgers and other winning teams. And, all they need to do is win each playoff series by one game.

He’s your no. 4. He’s still better than most teams no. 4. They had that span of like a 1.5-2 months where they just weren’t. But when I look at the rest of the National League I still think the Phillies have the best starting rotation 1-4. I think their bullpen is probably top two in the National League. To me this is always going to come down to how they hit. It’s what it came down to in the WS VS. Astros and last year after game two of the NLCS. We can blame Kimbrel but really when you score 3 runs on average last 5 games and you score 1,2 and 1 runs in three of the games that’s the bigger problem. Like what you saw on Sunday night, Wheeler can keep you in it. But if the Phillies just can’t hit whatsoever and they can’t get those hits with runners in scoring position that they need without the HR it will end sooner than we want.
September 24, 20242 yr Spike Eskin is right, they over did the celebration with the 1 seed on the line, they are basically conceding tonight

September 24, 20242 yr Celebrating a division title is the least of their worries. Every team since the beginning of baseball has celebrated a division title. Chances are the Dodgers and the Brewers will have champagne celebrations as well when they clinch. Baseball is a long grueling season and to be on top of your division at the end of the season is an accomplishment (celebrating a wildcard berth I do think is lame). My concern, like @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! has stated, is their offense. This team has a propensity for making scrub pitchers with ERA's in the 4's and 5's look like a reincarnation of prime Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson. In the playoffs, they are going against the cream of the crop pitching wise. Can they sustain offensive excellence for a month, which is roughly from the start of the NLDS through the World Series? I have my doubts but like everyone here, I'll be rooting like hell for them to prove us wrong.
September 24, 20242 yr With the $18 mil they could’ve had another lights out bullpen arm and probably a good bench bat.

Bringing TW in is tantamount to a throwaway game. To me, sure looks like the team is looking past the regular season and trying to keep its best arms fresh for the playoffs. No way that a casual fan is more tuned into this than the Phillies manager and coaches.

Or hope Milwaukee loses two more. Last two WC in the NL is going to be fascinating. Braves a game behind the Mets and dbacks. If Dbacks lose the Braves are 0.5 game back and tied in the loss column.
