Jalen Hurts discussion (Part 2) - see new topic for contract extension

So why do you keep bringing up last years injury as a way to prove your narrative if he didn't even get injured while running?? It's tiresome.

The original discussion stemmed from somebody claiming Hurts avoids big hits. I said that’s a BS narrative, considering his injury history so far. His quantity of runs also dramatically increases the likelihood he will get hurt again. And, he has a contract decision that needs to be made sometime this year (2023). Which will affect the TEAM. Was that too much for you to follow along?

Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

  • Just take a moment to realize how easy things look for this offense when the quarterback is right. This team just scored 28 points against a divisional opponent in a half. Just insane where things cou

Has anyone mentioned why the coaches and Hurts were so hush hush about his injury prior to the Giants game, but ever since then they have been over the top about it? Seems odd.

What is odd is you have posted multiple times since I posted this, but you keep dodging it.

You are more than twice as likely to get hurt outside of the pocket.

Yup, but we will have the next five years of a Super Bowl window once he signs his extension. Newton went to the Super Bowl in his fifth season as a starter. Hurts is only in his second season as a starter, so worst case scenario we have three years left of elite qb play.

🤦‍♂️this is such an awful take lol. First of all, Cam only missed 2 games in his first 5 years....Hurts has already shown he isnt as tough as Cam was. Second, Cam played by far his best season with 35 TDs whereas his 2nd best season he threw 24 TDs.

Imagine building an offense around a player and signing a long term deal with him because Cam Newton went to 1 superbowl.

Needs to run less for sake of his longevity. Bills need to do the same with Allen as well. Both teams will learn about it if they don't adjust

And look at that playoff run.

Beat Seattle by 1 score, but were outgained 403 to 295

Beat the Cardinals who decided 7 turnovers was the best plan to try and win.

Lost the Super Bowl to Denver who put up 194 yards of total offense.

Now do Hurts' relative to these. I'm actually curious.

I will leave that to you.  All I know for a fact is he got hurt in Chicago outside the pocket.

The most awesome/hilarious things were when the drummed up, fake, "let’s create some drama” bs was immediately addressed in the next week or two.

"yeah! But where has the deep ball been? It’s because he doesn’t have the arm. That’s gonna cost us!”

then they play Pittsburgh and it’s bombs away and this thread becomes a ghost town until the next new narrative is drummed up…..

”he ran for 150 yards!l that’s why we beat GB. He’s stopped throwing the ball! Where are the passing tds?! That’s not gonna work against a team like Tennessee!”

Then hurts is bombs away again and dominates again and the peanut gallery goes silent again  😂😂

ohhh you don't care to see those facts? Only what suits your narrative. Do you get the narrative yet?

I posted the facts that prove my point of view.

If you want fact to prove the opposite, that is on you to find them.  Why would I do your work for you ??

As opposed to what? Building an offense around a player who can't get to the Super Bowl?

I get you don't want Hurts. But, sadly for you, he's the guy for the next five or six years at least.

And when he gets his $200 million contract extension this offseason, I am sure you will consider it the "death of the franchise" and spend all summer complaining about it. But it's clearly the best path forward for the Eagles to be competitive for a championship.

I have said multiple times I understand your guys' concern and how past QB have fared. You don't like the style of play? That's fine by me. I just see it differently than you. The difference is you can't stand someone just having a different opinion than yours. Everyone has to have the same exact opinion as YOU. Why do you care so much about what others think?

I have never, ever, once stated that someone has to have my opinion.

I state my opinion, and bring facts to back it up to the table.

I gave you the chart showing a QB is more than twice as likely to get hurt outside of the pocket.

In an interesting twist, you requested I then find facts to back up your opinion.  Interesting strategy, I can't wait to see someone try and win a debate with that one.

It's the ganging up and constant berating of others that have differing opinions and if you really don't see that then there lies the problem.

People having the same opinion as me is ganging up ??  @TorontoEagle and @Shalodeep have both voiced their concerns in their own way, and shalo has even stated he hopes Hurts is here, hopes he wins, hopes he gets his money, while posting he has concerns about his long terms success or health.

I honestly believe you just don't have anything facts to back up your argument available, so you go with the ganging up and berating angle as a deflection, and then in a shocking twist asked me to provide facts to back up your argument.

Since I returned from my suspension, I have been beyond cordial through these discussions.

So you want a qb that has a greater chance of staying healthy but at the cost of only producing average numbers? What good does that do you?

Are you winning a title that way?

Jimmy G and Jared Goff got to a Super Bowl doing exactly that.

If you think building your offense around a QB like Cam Newton is your prototypical way to succeed and contend for a Superbowl every year when he was CLEARLY a 1 year wonder and didnt last long in the NFL....speaks volumes about your football IQ.

You Hurts squirters are as dull as rocks when it comes to reading and understanding what we are saying. We understand that THIS version of Jalen Hurts is not sustainable and as of right now its a ticking time bomb when it comes to his play style. He cannot continue to depend on his legs in order for his passing game to be successful. He has to continue to improve his passing and become a QB that can consistently win games with his arm and only runs when he has to. We want Hurts to continue to be our starting QB, but if we are going to sign him to a $200 million extension as you say, he HAS to improve in order to not only continue to win games, but also keep himself healthy and available. If any true Eagles fan thinks differently then I question them being fans to begin with.

I don't really understand where you're even going with this. I have an opinion on Hurts and how he plays and his longevity. What facts do I need to have an opinion? You wanna be scared of Hurts getting hurt every year. Go right ahead buddy. Hurts protects himself much better than typical dual threat QBs. Does he still get hurt? Sure does because he plays football. You have a problem with other people having an opinion. It's very strange.

The highlighted is the point. Dual threat QBs get injured. You answered it yourself.

After Cam went to the Super Bowl

2016 - 6-10 record

2017 - 11-5 lost in wild card round

2018 - 6-9

2019 - 5-11 ( Cam missed 14 games ) and was released after the season

This is what we are worried about @justwinbaby

Football players get injured. Go watch bowling.

Cam was the turning point for my mentality about dual threats. Was a huge fan of his coming out. He was actually built different (sick of this terminology being used for a QB with average height and weight) than the others and looked invincible....he wasn't. They beat him down over and over and he became less effective year after year.

They absolutely get injured. You are correct. Bravo sir. Glad you could rub a few brain cells together to get that generic answer out as fast as you could. Wanna discuss how other QBs last longer in the league and aren't injured every single season theyve been a starter? No .... I get it. Go birds, if the kid breaks, get a new one... Smh
