January 10, 20232 yr My wife (then gf at the time) had a gas stove in her apt when we were in college. We came back from the bar one night hammered, fooled around on the couch for a bit, where I promptly fell asleep and she decided she wanted to make pancakes. So she turns on the stove to preheat a pan, mixes the batter, and then somehow forgets about it and falls asleep next to me. I wake up an hour later in a stupor to the smell of rotten eggs, to find a burner that's not lit, a cold pan, and had to wake my wife who's completely oblivious as to what happened. Scared the absolute ish outta me. Back on topic though, this ban is overreach. While I personally prefer the easy clean up of glass top stoves, I know plenty of people like the speed and functionality of gas burners/broilers so this would suck hard for them.

Was there a stepstool available so you could turn it off?

I thought I read something like 70% of folks in California have gas stoves edit: yup Quote Thirty-five percent of households in the United States use a gas stove, and the numberapproaches 70% in some states like California and New Jersey.
January 11, 20232 yr I've heard people on the left say that it's jut the inefficient gas stoves that leak that would be banned. So what is the likelihood that all gas stoves are banned, "now" and "ever"?
January 11, 20232 yr Silly governmental overreach. This is just dumb and I speak from experience. They announced something similar down here (with banning LPG into homes) but have slowed it down / backed off a touch, and likely going to be fully revoked when we get a change in government and boot out the global socialist darling from power later this year (one can hope). Its just not a popular move, not with how much we love our summer BBQs and the fact that gas is just better for a lot of cooking. The left just can't help itself sometimes.
January 11, 20232 yr Are they banning all gas stoves, or just assault stoves? Perhaps they could just limit burner capacity.
