This innocent flower bit.   Both sides f'n suck and sling mud

Dems have never had any problem branding anyone as a racist.  But it's a pathetic attack and always has been.  First of all, racism isn't a form of government.  Second, it's impossible to prove.  And thirdly, it's doesn't effect the majority of the American people.  It's a weak argument and has been since day 1.  Fascist is broader, much more effective, and honestly more accurate.  I don't really care if a politician is a racist.  I do care if they intend on tearing up the Constitution and transforming the US into a dictatorship.

Honestly, I wish our politics were more elegant and elevated than this. But that’s never happening. However, calling them fascists won’t work because most people don’t realize that’s a bad thing. They know from the Cold War that communism is horrible; they don’t remember or know about WW2.

Call the members of the current GOP what they are, and what will annoy them. They are imbeciles. Led by one of the dumbest human beings on the planet. Call them the party of imbeciles.

The right and left both have loony twitter moonbats. The difference is the republicans lean into it by dog whistling to the proud boys, and the oath keepers. Trump has suggested, more than once, that Biden would bring about full on communism even worse than the soviet union. I've never heard any major democratic leader suggest elected a republican would irrevocably transform the country into full on fascism that would (in my best Trump voice) "Make Hitler's Germany look tame by comparison".

Even Hillary's famous deplorable line

Quote

"You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. "The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

Do republicans ever say things like "You know half of democrats are socialists/communist"? No... it's every single one. Do they qualify statements like "I'm the only thing standing between you and chaos." or "Biden has made a corrupt bargain in exchange for his party’s nomination. He has handed control to the socialists and Marxists and left-wing extremists like his vice-presidential candidate.” with "just be grossly generalistic"?

Please, it's not even remotely the same.

Read her statement in my last post, and compare with Trump quotes. You're giving Hillary far too much credit. She's a nerdy policy wonk. She's a stuffed pants suit.

It has worked.  It just worked in '22.  It was either said outright or it was heavily implied in the protecting democracy mantra.

And it's a far better tactic than calling them imbeciles.  Middle America thinks you're talking about them.  And they don't want to be called stupid (even though a lot of them are).  But if you call them fascists, it's different.  It speaks to the transformation of their free society.  It works exactly like the right calling the left Socialists.  Most Republicans don't even know what a socialist is, but they know they hate it.

It was a stupid and irresponsible thing for him to say. No argument there.

Read it.  Clearly the Dems are the good guys.  And apparently the victims.

This thread is a glorious representation of where we are as a country.

A few random democrats: Studies are showing that leaky gases from stoves are causing real health concerns for people across the country.

Foxnews: Joe Biden is going to ban all gas stoves.

Joe Biden: I’m not going to ban gas stoves. There is research being done and we want to inform and protect people based on research for their health and safety.

Republicans: RAWR!!! I’m going to huff propane to own the libs!!! Old man bad!!! RAWR!!!

Except at the time this was posted, we had a direct quote from Alexander Hoen-Saric, the head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission saying that they are exploring banning gas stoves.

This is a federal agency and he was nominated by Biden.

This statement came weeks after he received a letter signed by 2 dozen prominent Dem Senators and Congressmen demanding an investigation.

Nothing in the title or the original article is misleading...... It's exactly what happened.... They are looking into a ban.

It wasn't until the justified backlash that the backtracking started happening.

I'm just glad Biden shut it down.  It's why I love Biden.  He says what I'm thinking!

I think that these kinds of things are more publicity stunts than serious. Suppose Biden is gone as of January 20, 2025 and someone from a different party (or even the same), is elected. That new President can just do away with the ban.

It would be different if the ban was a law, then it'd take a lot more to be able to get rid of it, but it's not going to be a law within the timeframe of this Congress, so the 'ban' is meaningless.

Who didn't know that this was coming?

Additionally, gas stove health effects tend to have the greatest impact on communities of color and low-income families, who often live in smaller homes and apartments and are likely to face greater pre-existing health and pollution burdens.

You're gonna need to be more specific here.

Trump? McCarthy? Cruz? Jordan? MTG? Boebert?

Love the Propaganda. One House Dem says it and the story is Top House Dems all say it. Soon it will all lIberals believe it.

Where is this quote? I have never seen it.

Closest is this quote from Richard Trumka: "Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.” -Bloomberg

Fascist is much, much narrower than racist. Fascist requires an entire set of political beliefs and policy prescriptions, many of which  are totally "constitutional” and in fact are already implemented to some degree.
