the one thing I'll say about all this so far is that nothing, from what I have seen, amounts to "sex trafficking".

sex trafficking is a specific, and heinous, practice that coerces individuals into engaging in sex acts against their will, usually using some form of blackmail. often the victims of sex trafficking are underage.

not every encounter with an underage person, disgusting or not, should be lumped under the category of sex trafficking. that is irresponsible journalism IMHO. 

Gaetz should face whatever consequences are appropriate for his actions, I just hate seeing something like sex trafficking having its definition broadened like this - it's insulting to actual victims of sex trafficking. actual sex trafficking is just a whole other level of evil.

I don't believe that is true, unless these girls were coerced/forced to engage in sexual acts.

If they were engaging consensually for money, it's prostitution.

for a minor, there has to be a 3rd party involved for it to be considered sex trafficking:
