In order for it to work he needs to be the a-hole that the league reluctantly needs, and I’m not sure that’s the brave and the bold Batman they’re going to be going for.The right Batman playing off of this Superman could be amazing. Make him similiar to the animated series Batman, serious, kind of dark, but still appropriate for children.

You're a big Batman fan and know a lot about the comics, say more about how you think that version of Batman with an actor like that would go?

You're a big Batman fan and know a lot about the comics, say more about how you think that version of Batman with an actor like that would go?Well, I mean my favorite Batman comics are the Frank Miller ones, so I prefer an edgy hulking batman that pushes the morality envelope. IMHO, Batfleck with the right director would have been right up my alley. I think my nostalgia for BTAS also tends to skew me in favor of a more analytical and detective Batman, which is why I think I'm so fond of The Batman. (I think it's not as good of a movie as TDK, but I think it's a better Batman film, if that makes sense.)For whatever the DCU is trying to do, I'd rather them not lean heavily into a Brave and the Bold campy-esqe Batman. If they were able to pull off something like Batman akin to the Justice League cartoons I think it would work. A-hole with a heart of gold who is the brains of the operation. I'm a fan of Batman doing his own thing, but if you want him in a fantastical world, he's gotta be as grounded as he can be in the situations he's in. I know they want to do a Robin storyline, so I think that the best thing they could do is a Batman where Dick Grayson and Tim Drake already established and do a movie with Jason Todd as the Batman, and then have the Joker off him in the end and have it set up a Red Hood sequel. In a fantastical universe you can bring in undone characters like Killer Croc or whatever and it would work stylistically. Honestly I think of all the actors available Alan Ritcheson would work the best. He can do comedy (Blue Mountain State), and he can do huge snarky a-hole that beats people (Reacher).FWIW, my favorite Batman movie of all is Mask of the Phantasm.
July 20Jul 20 Superwoke was excellent. I'm one who has been beating the drum for about a decade that origin stories are the worst thing in cinema today with superhero movies being the worst of the worst. So, yeah, f'ing ecstatic to see Gunn save us an entire movie and a half and flat out troll drops us into midway of movie #2 where the stakes actually start to mean something. Within half an hour he sets Superman up as an underdog with no chance, because no matter how absurdly powerful and pure you are, GOODNESS stands no chance in today's world. He also convincingly sets up a "Gods are dead" narrative where our near future technology can not only take him out, it would take him rather quickly. The cast was great, really loved Luthor, Lois Lane, Jimmy, Green Lantern and Gunn has an underrated knack for engaging action sequences. A couple minor flaws, one particular CG scene was rough, a little heavy on the "dog movie" and the geopolitics leaned too heavily into real world like for likes that may or may not stand the test of time. But at the end of the day Superman felt extremely fun and relevant and that's something the IP has been struggling with for almost half a century.
