Outside of an unfortunate accident of losing your ID the day of, I just don't see it as a barrier at all. They may have used their SS card and birth certificate to register. Taking 2 seconds to look at an ID is a low cost way to prevent fraud. The poll worker that hands out the ballot is supposed to verify signatures. Of course signatures can be forged, but I’m gonna assume CJM #7 can barely sign his own name, let alone forge someone else’s. (Mine is AFU, I have a hard time duplicating it myself.) But even if he does take the time to practice good enough to get it by the initial poll worker, both parties go over the sig sheets with a fine tooth comb, just like they do the voter rolls, and other election paper work.
