October 31, 20241 yr Everyone seems to be focusing on the Republican/Democrat early voting numbers. Might want to be focusing on that male/female divide.

Republican/Democrat early voting might be misleading. What drives registered party voting the most is primaries and you can make a very strong case that the most avid voting bloc this primary season was Nikki Haley's demo which will be voting for Trump around 70% at best.

Quote Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee and a former Jan. 6 committee member, told Axios in a report published Thursday if former President Trump "won a free, fair and honest election, then we would obviously accept it." The report continued to say that Raskin said he "definitely" does not assume the former president will employ "free, fair and honest means" to win the Oval Office. edit - yep, good call on my part.
October 31, 20241 yr Haha, wait, so dominion machines having major issues is no longer a conspiracy theory? Put another quarter in the "right wingers were 100% correct" jar.

I've been door knocked for an election for the first time since I've lived here, and he was asking if I was registered, if I knew how to request a mail-in ballot, who I was voting for etc. I told him I already voted for her just to get him off my porch but I was expecting to get door knocked from team dipsheet shortly after, and as of now, still nothing. Thought maybe it was some localized effort but then the numbers on returned mail-in ballots from other cities starting coming in and blue areas like Detroit had return rates much higher than I expected. I forget where they are at now but it's already like almost half of the total turnout of 2020, which is crazy considering that's all mail in and early voting.

You know what would be awesome? If the "do your own research" crowd actually did their own research. The issue obviously isn't about votes switching red to blue. It's about people voting in an incorrect way that they want the machines to register correctly, specifically if you are voting straight party, then just vote straight party. You can't vote X for GOP or Democrat and then throw X's on all the candidates. that's ALWAYS been an incorrect way to vote and the machine is telling you its incorrect. It's inconvenient because you have to redo it, but the machine is catching the error. The commission wants Dominion to make these ,mistake votes register anyways. Again and Ive been saying for years now, it would really help if you actually became part of the voting process and learned a g'damn thing about these things.

October 31, 20241 yr I was a bit off, Detroit is at 40% of total 2020 turnout. Still pretty crazy to be that high already but not half like I thought.

We've gotten a ton of mailers from Trump and McCormick PACs, and have had two people knock on our doors - the Democratic candidate for the local state house seat knocked on our door personally, and the Kamala campaign did just this week. Keep in mind I'm registered Republican and the wife is registered Democrat, and we are super voters who vote in every election.

I'd want to compare early voting to 2020. It's difficult to really compare though because 2020 was wildly different in terms of pressures to vote early, between both Covid and partisan pressure.
