Yep and for as much ish as people gave Gary Johnson for that Aleppo gaffe, RFK Jr makes him look like a F'ing rocket scientist by comparison.

That whole thing was hysterical, seeing how the guy who won the election had no clue what the nuclear triad is. And is basically a complete imbecile. I voted for Johnson in 2016. I voted Jorgensen in 2020, but I honestly knew very little about her. Guessing I write in someone like Romney this year.

June 10, 20241 yr But it does matter which states are in question and which role we're talking about. Everyone knows a 3rd party candidate can't actually win so it boils down to being a protest vote to send a message to either/both parties to nominate better candidates. So someone like RFK Jr doesnt need ballot access to all states to play spoiler and tip the scales. In a state like MI for example, where he now has ballot access I think, he might be able to siphon off slightly more votes from one candidate to hand the electoral votes to the other. In 2016, 3rd party candidates acccounted for 5% of voters in the state which I think was the highest it had been since Perot. In 2020, it shrank back down to 1.5% which was much more in line with typical presidential elections. But if it bumps back up to something like 3% this year, that could easily be enough of a factor to push things in one direction or another. Don't put it past some disaffected democrats being stupid enough to simply see the name Kennedy and pull the lever, regardless of policy positions or fitness for office.

For a 3rd party to make a dent it would need to siphon off a coalition of interest groups/caucuses and that's what never happens with these 3rd parties. They are almost always single issue. It sucks, and you can go back to George Washington's farewell address on that one. Washington was spot on when he warned the country of the dangers of political parties.

June 11, 20241 yr "In a recent MSNBC interview, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi dismissed the explosive new video that revealed her admitting she refused to secure the Capitol on January 6th." It's her, in her words. They'd be remiss if this video wasn't aired repeatedly for 6 months. Why now is a reasonable question.
