As for the prior discussion on inflation, it's hysterical that no one mentioned the other primary cause - supply chain disruptions. The inflation rate really started taking off in 2021 as you can see below:

There were 2 main drivers behind this. The first, as you guys have discussed, was massive demand driven by profligate government stimulus under both the Trump and Biden administrations -- I'd put more blame on Biden here as Trump in 2020 was reacting to a once in a lifetime event. There was no need for Biden to do another round of free money, and the Fed also held rates at zero at the same time (took them there at the beginning of the pandemic). So this meant there were people flush with cash and the ability to borrow cheaply, so demand was sky high.

The other part of the equation is China basically shut down in 2021 (https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/09/02/1033396323/china-is-imposing-strict-lockdowns-to-contain-new-covid-outbreaks-but-theres-a-c). This made it impossible to get consistent supply out of the country. Companies we invested in were basically having to secure delivery slots 4-6 months in advance and pay exorbitant prices just to try and get supply. It was utterly bananas in 2021 and 2022, and companies were bidding each other up for limited supply.

Strong demand + limited supply = massive inflation. But you can't talk about the inflation of 2021-2022 ad ignore the issues with the supply chain. Frankly, that was the much larger problem. Supply shocks have been the cause of massive inflation in the US historically (OPEC embargo) - we've had low rates and free money forever. COVID was free money on steroids, but it doesn't get nearly that bad without China shutting down.

Unfortunately a lot of people, especially those below a certain education level, like to take the simp approach instead of using critical thinking skills. "It happened under his administration its his fault."

Yeah bud, it's a global phenomenon. The real pandemic are all the furries in schools!

Not a widespread global phenomenon. Without question it is happening so your earlier tantrum about Rambo's kid's story makes you look pathetic and small, as usual.

I'm sure it was A driver of inflation. Given that inflation plagued every economy after Covid it's stupid to argue it was THE inflation, unless you're being a partisan hack.

Did you read the paper or link?

It says government spending was 41.6% of the cause of inflation. The next highest cause was inflation expectations, at 16.9%, followed by interest rates at 14.3%.

Of course there was more than one cause. But there was one overwhelming cause, and the next highest cause was itself derived from the first. All the other causes combined are less than those two.

What drove inflation in all of the other developed economies in the world?

All of the other "developed economies in the world" that trade off of our currency?

Those developed economies in the world?

lol! That's still insane though

They knocked off $500 when we purchased the car with the option to purchase it later.  We declined since we didn't see the point in spending $500 for a feature we don't plan on using.

So that part of the chip shortage we were fine with. What sucked was we placed the order in February, got a phone call in September to prepare us that we weren't going to get the model year we ordered (the trim package we ordered was only for that year, which would have sucked) only to get another call in October to let us know that we were on the list and will have the car delivered in November.

And honestly, that 9 month wait was nothing compared to people who ordered Broncos.  I knew one guy who waited well over a year.  They had lots full of them in Michigan, but couldn't ship because they were missing vital chips.

Mr Hegseth later told USA Today that his remarks were intended to be a joke.

"We live in a society where people walk around with bottles of Purell (a hand sanitiser) in their pockets, and they sanitise 19,000 times a day as if that's going to save their life," he said.

"I take care of myself and all that, but I don't obsess over everything all the time."

Of the public reaction, he said it was ridiculous how people took things so "literally and seriously" so that their "heads explode".
