It's still a long shot but that Whitmer line has a ton of value at +4000! (with a 3k ceiling I guess that's only a $75 bet)

If Biden does end up bowing out, there's going to be a melee to replace him on the ticket. I think it will be really hard for two California people to win nationally. Whitmer could feasibly deliver women AND WiMiPa.

It's going to be a weird few months.

His program was voluntary for insurers, Biden made it mandatory.

I don't support either policy, but Biden is the one who made it mandatory for all seniors.

Yes and Trump's policy was good for a sound byte, but the fact that pharmaceuticals were present and thrilled says what you need to know.

Very very few actually benefited but the useful idiots with Trump flags on spotless and waxed super duty trucks think he "done sumthin gud"

There’s being bad, and then there’s being an abject failure. The public’s concern going into last night was about Biden’s age and competence, and he exacerbated that problem massively. He could afford a C- performance, but that was a solid F right out of the gate.

I argued all along Biden was the best shot to beat Trump. But after that performance last night, he is cooked. That was his first impression, and unlike previous cycles, there won’t be another debate in a week or 2. So this image is locked in until the next debate in September, if it happens.

His only chance is to stack a ton of coherent stump speeches between now and the next debate and redeem himself then.

And he's not wrong that he was never a good debater, so it isn't like he has some depth of talent to draw from.

If he does all that yeah yesterday's debate can be framed readily as a bad day. But it's a big ass hill to climb for a dude whose hill climbing days are decades past.

People already have their ballots and are already voting for the general election? Huh?

Dude I voted for Biden 3x in 3 states already.

You gotta pump those numbers up.

Fetterman's point makes sense. He butchered his first debate against Oz and they called for him to leave and he'd get steamrolled blah blah blah. And clearly that didn't happen.

The counterpoint there is that Fetterman was recovering from a stroke, where many of the symptoms get better with time and therapy whereas no one is really buying that Joey is gonna get better with time here.

Maybe, maybe not. Biden apparently got better after the first 20 minutes. But I'm not so much arguing what should happen vs what will happen. And from what we've seen, the talk of all these backdoor conversations already underway to talk him down seem a bit sensationalized.

The window for that to happen is rapidly closing and if we don't see anything materialize in the next day or two, then it's not gonna happen. In fact, we've already started to see the opposite of that with people like Obama, Newsome, Fetterman, and others rallying behind him in support.

I haven't followed this stuff a whole lot, but I did read something a while back of an issue with getting Biden (or whoever may be the Dem nominee) onto the Ohio ballot due to the date of the Dem convention and the law in Ohio that requires certification before a specific date. Either the law has to be changed/amended or the convention date moved up.

Has there been any resolution to that issue? It seems pretty important to just ignore and not address.

It will all come down to the polls in the next 7-10 days. If Biden craters, then the replacement conversation will pick up steam. If he holds in, then they will focus on the turnout game.

Just saw on the local news website that Trump had a rally less than 15 miles away from my house today.
