For the life of me I have never and will never understand how people put so much stock in the POTUS as the driver of the US economy.  As if Obama, Trump or Biden have ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING to do with the tech boom that's been driving the last couple deacdes. As if any of them invented new ways to extract shale or invented f'ing AI.  GTFO here.

Not only that, but as a kicker people act like the US economy is a speedboat than any POTUS can just steer from day one.  No its not, it's a Fing tanker and the few times a POTUS ACTUALLY affects the economy they just stick their dick in for political purposes and F it up for the next guy who has to deal with long term ramifications (see: Bush getting the housing crises caused by Clinton repealing Glassteel.  See: Trump smacking China with tariffs and calling it Bidenflation when it kicks in.)

IIMHO, and I have been extremely consistent with this since I got here in like 2006. assigning the economy to the POTUS is a fools errand. But that's what they run on, every single cycle and every single cycle they take credit for shite they didn't do and fudge numbers however they feel like it.  This is the one facet of this election that is tragically familiar and just like all the others.

Correct, the problem is we are WAY below 7% when adjusted for inflation.  Hell, before adjusting for inflation we are almost at 7%.

Looking at the Dow Jan 2021 to Jan 2024:

1/8/2021    31,097.97
1/5/2024    37,466.11

That gives a 3 year gain of 20.48%, which is roughly 7%

So adjust 2021 to 2024 dollars.  I used this site, if there is a better one I'm all ears.  I feel like the last one I used produced "better" results

1/8/2021    36,665.91
1/5/2024    37,466.11

That turns out to 2.18% gain over 3 years.  (I remember 3% and I THOUGHT that was yearly average, so I don't necessarily trust that inflation calculator)

So yes, the Dow has been underperforming under Biden despite Tiny Tool's chuckles.

Adjusted for inflation Trump and Biden are tied at this same point in their respective administrations.

Trump obviously had early Covid. Biden dealt with late Covid.

I'd also contend that Trump was all about the sugar rush. He pulled every lever he could for short term gains regardless of long term costs. Biden has certainly had some of that but a lot of his big legislative achievements feature long term thinking.

Economically 2024-2030 sets up well between infrastructure and chips, and whoever is president is going to have a rosy situation (barring outside events).

the republican nominee for potus is all over the unsealed epstein records and it's barely in the news cycle (outside of social media). what the f happened to our country?

Latest CNN poll of polls shows Trump’s lead rose from a 2% lead to 6% post debate. The pressure is mounting.

What is funny about a poll from CNN showing Biden losing ground?

That he went from 2 to 6 points down.

To be fair, I laugh at all your posts.  Whether it’s "Joe is hanging by a thread” or one of your cliches like "lock and load.”  You’re just a barrel of laughs I guess.

No one cares about the DOW.  S&P is where to look.  It’s way up over his term.

Biden was 78 years old when he took office.  For some reason, Democrats have been operating under the assumption he'd be a two-term President
