XY. The genetics dont lie and are clear

The advantage males have in olympic sports like boxing, sprinting, soccer, etc is gained from advanced muscle mass, strength, and endurance primarily as a result of increased levels of testosterone. You can have an XY karyotype while still having a female phenotype (e.g. a uterus but no testicles.) Without testicles to produce testosterone, what advantage do you have over other females?

I don't like Vance and have mocked him on here for good reason. I'm not saying his answer was good, but he is smarter than Trump in this instance because he tried to turned it to her policies. That's all Trump had to do but he is a child and made it a stupid mistake. This is also the first semi coherent thing I've heard him say. Someone have him on ginko or give him a earpiece?

That's actually a good answer.Ā  Good for Vance trying to get off the mat.

XY chromosomed athletes with female genitalia have been allowed to compete with women since the 90s.Ā

they used to test for XY then backed off when intersex athletes with lady bits complained.

I don't know what the answer is, but this isn't new. the standard for what the IOC considers for an athlete to compete as a women excludes XY testing.Ā

Sooooo male chromosome but born with lady parts?

Wont have ovaries if its high T will likely have internal testicles which produce it or is juicing.

could have a 5HT mutation or something, or was born with defects so they surgically made a V.Ā

or its some combination of liesĀ

Will they still go through puberty like a male in terms of testosterone and muscle growth?

Skeletal structure, lung capacity are not T dependent but generally speaking its T driven.Ā
Ā

these cases are tough bc you can end up with some cells producing even if they aren’t structurally organized into a proper testicle. Would be curious to see the bloodwork

Honestly, it's simpler than that and they are making something out of nothing.Ā  Note the highlight below.

- Imane Khelif is not transgender and does not identify as intersex.Ā

- Imane Khelif reportedly has a variation in her sex traits, also known as differences of sexual development (DSDs), which are a group of conditions involving genes, hormones and reproductive organs. According to the NIH, some people with DSDs are raised as female but may have sex chromosomes other than XX, or elevated testosterone levels.

- Athletes with variations in their sex traits, or DSDs, are not the same as transgender athletes. Conflating the two is inaccurate.

- Imane Khelif has followed eligibility requirements set forth by the International Olympic Committee to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. IOC spokesperson Mark Adams stated: "Everyone competing in the women’s category is complying with the competition eligibility rules.ā€

- Imane Khelif participated in the 2021 Toyko Olympics and multiple other women’s tournaments. She was disqualified from the 2023 International Boxing Association (IBA) championship due to an unspecified gender eligibility test, which has different eligibility criteria than the IOC. The IBA has since been decertified as the governing international body of boxing.

Its a maybe. Certainly seems like these two did

there is variability in the normal population. So cases like that pretty much have to be treated as one offs. Impossible to really compare them to each other when so many factors could vary wildly

Yeah, I don't know what the right answer is with corner cases like these. But if someone with a female phenotype has testosterone levels typical of other females, seems odd to disqualify her on the basis of some unrealized advantage that she never had or was able to benefit from. Now if she has XY and then also super high levels of Test (like the case I linked to earlier), that's a different story.Ā
