23% of Americans support Trump holding office, if he wins, even if he is convicted a crime. Just shows how deep the Cult goes.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/poll-can-trump-win-the-white-house-if-convicted-of-a-serious-crime-183436643.html

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that just 23% of Americans believe that Donald Trump should be allowed to serve as president again if convicted of a "serious” crime.

A full 62%, meanwhile, say Trump should not be allowed to serve again in that scenario.

The survey of 1,520 U.S. adults, which was conducted May 25 to May 30, underscores the political peril facing the former president as his legal troubles pile up.

The big boy's in and he'll occupy the lane of the only one who'll actually call Trump out as the traitor/criminal that he is.  I like Christie.  He'd likely beat Biden in a general, but obviously there's zero chance he'd get through to the nomination.  He's a moderate conservative and not a sex offender who's proposing Communist Ghost Cities so he's not really speaking to the Republican base anymore.

And Pence is in.  Mother will be so proud.  Obviously, also very little chance here, since he's not only out of step with the right in 2023 but he's also afraid to really hit Trump effectively, despite Trump literally sending a mob to kill him.

I like that He is going after the twice impeached, one term, former President, who was found liable for sex abuse, who is under criminal indictment with more indictments to come, and whose company was found guilty of 17 Felony Counts of Fraud. But, I wouldn't call him a moderate. He's a bit too conservative for that.

I can't stand Pence. He won't say what Trump did was a crime. He's so pious it disgusts me.

I'm 100% good with Christie's brand of conservatism.  He was praising the debt negotiation yesterday and bipartisan compromise in general.  Obviously that won't get him many votes in the primary but in 2023 that's pretty moderate for the Republicans.

And then of course the most anticipated announcement of the year.  Today he'll finally answer the "will he/won't he" questions on everyone's lips.  You're future President: Doug Burgum...did I spell that right?...yes...Doug Burgum, Governor of one of the Dakotas.

All these people have no shot. The crowded field makes Trump's nomination all that much easier.

I don't think it matters either way.  2 or 20 candidates, Trump trounces them either way.  Might as well have a clown car cage match.

2 candidates would be close. Trump is between 38-50% depending on the state. The only chance is if the republicans do what the dems did, they all dropped out to clear the way for Biden after super Tuesday. If they hadn't Bernie would have won the nomination.

And we're still 8 months from that.  Bernie dropped out in April 2020.

Theres eons of time, politically speaking.

Yeah, a lot can happen between now and then. All the grease, cholesterol, and whatever they put in diet coke has to catch up with him at some point.

I guess there's a way to slice and dice it per state, but the chips would have to fall perfectly for someone and, yeah, it would have to be a 2 man race.

In my mind, it would also have to be someone like Christie.  The problem Republicans have is that too many people have fled the party since they went populist/socialist.  Someone like DeSantis doesn't bring those people back.  He's more of the same big government authoritarianism and he's competing against a guy who commands a cult, so the core voter he's after isn't abandoning their cult leader no matter what case he's making.

Only a traditional conservative Republican with some natural ability like Christie (I guess Pence falls into this category too but he's such a huge poosay that I doubt anyone wants to hear it from him) could really appeal to them.  They'll need those voters in droves to have any shot against the cultists.

yep, i want no parts of trump or desantis.

if the GOP is to be saved, those who haven't gone full jehova witness need to push for another choice.

change happens by voting, not by crying like a **** on the internet about every little thing the ishlibs or magas say or do, not by denying an election with nothing more than some dipsheet theories. get out and vote these clowns the F out.

Christie can't win the nomination, and he knows that despite what he may say. This is a legacy play for him -- he wants to be the one to stop Trump. He was one of the first national Republicans to endorse Trump, stood by him for 4 years, and then finally turned after January 6th. Christie doesn't want to be remembered as one of the chief enablers. His whole campaign will be a full frontal attack on Donnie, and the hope is the baby takes the bait and engages, allowing others to gain traction.

I really hope he can pull it off.

So at this point, whats candidates ARENT running because of Trump??

Honestly, this is absurd analysis that only seems plausible when viewed through a Trump-obsessed prism.

If Manchin runs, its not because of Trump.

DeSantis is not running because of Trump.

And Christie is not running because of Trump.

Theyre all running because theyre all ambitious and actually want to be POTUS.  Not everything is Machiavellian.

It's all a moot point, Trump had the nomination locked up as soon as he announced he was running again. Indictments won't matter in the slightest, the cultists don't care about laws, hell the majority of GOP voters still think he won the 2020 election FFS. The only chance DeSantis has is some sort of major medical situation with Trump. Every other scenario is a pipe dream.
