I can't believe there was a time when I actually took you seriously. I was such a F'ing moron for not seeing through you immediately.

I don't really think that was the message though. Wanting strong borders and a strong military are pretty wide reaching, popular ideas. As is more housing, keep the government from making healthcare decisions for women, F Trump's Project 2025, etc. It all polls incredibly high. The fact that the farthest crazy left and right hates most of them is more of a tell on who they are. And it tells me that she's striking the right tone.

It was the exact document prepared over 2024 and set in final draft a week before Biden dropped out. They did not update any of it including the part that points to Biden's 2nd term, i.e. a reference to Harris as the candidate was NOT added. Her team clearly just wanted to ensure that there was zero internal policy debate ahead of or during the convention. Let's see if there is anything done now. If you open it up for edits, then it opens a whole can of worms. Have you ever been on a political committee? You need a quorum and have to do everything by parliamentary procedure to change anything. It would have taken forever. Sitting through those is one of the reasons I quit politics.

That's why I'm speaking in support of the candidate who received absolutely no votes. Because our precious democracy is at risk if we let voters decide who represents them"

No I’ve never been on a political committee. This is a special situation as it was to anoint Harris. Changes would have been very minimal I would have thought.

"ABUSE!!!" you guys are pathetic. No, no, actually his son was talking to the paratrooper just off screen. Walz heroically saved him, and the country

August 23, 20241 yr So, I'd give the speech a solid B+, maybe an A-. What was surprising was it wasn't just a ton of red meat to fire up the base; rather, it was clearly a calculated effort to try and appeal to swing voters and moderates. I thought she did well in her policy contrasts with Trump, particularly on taxes and immigration. While I don't agree with her tax policy, calling out Trump's insane proposal for a 10% tariff and quantifying the impact on the average family was very smart. On immigration she is clearly going to hang the failure of the border bill around his neck -- the GOP can push back saying it was a bad bill, but that is undercut by Lankford being the author and the GOP being in favor until Trump killed it. In both these cases, she took aim at policy areas where she polls worse than Trump and hit back. Also, her comments on Israel/Gaza were well done. The narrative stuff I thought was a little boring, but necessary. Most of all, she looked Presidential, which was the key. All in all, it sucks that this is where we are. I don't want Harris to be President, and I wish there were an actual conservative in the race. But the GOP is no longer the party of Reagan, Bush or McCain -- it's a populist party of grievance and stupidity. If the GOP had nominated ANY SANE AND NORMAL Republican, they'd be winning this thing in a landslide. Instead, we have the imbecile clown running for a 3rd time. Hopefully he gets crushed and the GOP becomes a conservative party again.

They could have timed boxed it under extraordinary circumstances and shot it down. btw - I have been on some W3C workgroups in the past which have the same type of problems (rigid procedures and difficult politics) so I do understand it.

That's what the reporting was. They were worried they would get bogged down in procedure and there were just too many other things to do. As others have said, in the end very few people care.

As others have said, in the end very few people care. I mean, she's running against Trump - a man with no policy, no governing philosophy and no convictions of any kind other than he wants to win. If open borders and full amnesty would get him elected, he'd support it tomorrow. The guy has legitimately been on both sides of almost every large issue at some point. He got elected in 2016 on a policy to build the wall and built like 20 miles FFS. We're basically crying that the normal student isn't supporting her arguments while people want to give an A to the imbecile eating paste.
August 23, 20241 yr I still can't get over the fact that some retarded boomer who's lived in Sweden for the last 2 decades thinks the health of the US is in poor shape because Biden's VP is using the same platform that won them the last election.
