Nobody has been willing to go as low-brow as Trump and match his uncouthness. Somebody just needs to go for it.

This. Anytime an advisor tells you not to say something, definitely say it. Trump obliterated the old rules of decorum. This is basically smack talk at recess now.

Yeah, imagine Trump going after Christie for Bridgegate now?  Christie has sooo much ammo to lay the beat down.

I'm not sure that dick jokes, fat jokes, low-IQ shtick etc will do much. Trump will just shrug those off like nothing and keep going. To really rattle him and force him to lose his composure, Christie needs to hit him where it hurts the most. He needs to straight up call Trump a criminal and a loser who is toxic to the party, and will guarantee another Biden win if the party nominates Trump instead of him.

Can we just stop for a moment and appreciate that this an an earnest post about campaigning and debate strategies for the nomination of the Presidential candidate for one of the two ostensibly major parties?

You need to do all of the above.  A lot of Trump supporters are there for the show. You have to give them a better show.

If you want to make Donald mad, call him stupid and poor.

I'm not going to delve into political arguments and all of that, but I do have a bit of a prediction.

Trump gets the nomination for Republicans. Biden won't get the nomination for Democrats, Kennedy will, setting up Kennedy-Trump. Trump will keep the Republican base, Kennedy will get the Democrat base. That's how it always goes (99% of the time). So it's independents that will make the decision (as it usually does).

Trump is too damaged (rightly or wrongly depending on your side of the aisle), and won't win many Independents. Kennedy seems to sound sane and reasonable, and he'll win over the majority of Independents, putting him in the White House in January 2025.

He could cement that and win a portion of Republican votes with the right VP choice and pick from the 'also rans' that are trying to get the GOP nomination (if one of them would do it), and form a mixed ticket. Say Kennedy-Scott or Kennedy-Christie (not likely), but you get the gist.

I agree.

Asa Hutchinson announces presidential bid, says Trump should withdraw from race

The indictment will become too big of a "sideshow,” Hutchinson said, adding that the former president should focus on his defense instead of another bid for the White House.

Kennedy is a complete lunatic. Have you ever actually heard him speak?

I can't get thru 30 seconds of his voice.

I swapped it for one that's even worse. He's got serious mental problems and he isn't a serious candidate. Anyone who thinks he is, is just looking at the name

On the gop side, other than Hutchinson and Christie the rest of them all said Trump did nothing wrong and was a great president. I don't understand why any of them are even running, they all love Trump so they should just drop out and endorse him. Hutchinson and Christie are the only gop candidates actually running against Trump.

And both of them don't have a snowball's chance in hell of gaining any traction. This is how you know they are not a serious party.

Exactly.  They're just wasting time and their donors money if they're going to watch the other team fumble the ball and then pick it up and hand it back to them.

They're all banking on Trump imploding and them being able to pick up his supporters because they didn't attack the orange God. The part they refuse to comprehend is that Trump will never go away -- he'll keep running from prison if it comes to that. Donald Trump has only 2 paths in front of him at this point -- be elected the 47th President, or die in jail. He'll never stop.

Chris Christie announces White House run at town hall in Manchester

And this guy is running as a Democrat? What a joke. He listens to Alex Jones. He lost my vote forever.

In light of Donald Trump’s indictment for his handling of classified documents, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s campaign on Wednesday requested a meeting with RNC officials about amending the loyalty pledge, according to two people with knowledge of the conversation granted anonymity to speak candidly about a private conversation.

"I’m not going to vote for him if he’s a convicted felon,” Hutchinson said in the interview. “‘I’m not going to vote for him if he’s convicted of espionage, and I’m not going to vote for him if he’s (convicted of) other serious crimes. And I’m not going to support him.”

A spokesperson for Chris Christie’s campaign, meanwhile, said the former New Jersey governor has been "pretty clear on his thoughts around the pledge and any future support for Trump — conviction or not.”

Repeatedly this year, Christie has said he will not support Trump if he is the nominee. Last week Christie said he would sign the RNC’s pledge in order to debate, but would only take it "as seriously as Donald Trump did eight years ago.” Trump in the 2016 election signed a similar pledge, but later said he would not necessarily commit to supporting someone else as the nominee. Asked about such a pledge this spring, Trump would not promise to back the eventual nominee for 2024.

Good for Hutchinson and  at Christie.  That's exactly what Christie should do.  Sign the RNC's BS pledge and then wipe your ass with it (which is exactly what Trump would do with it, if he would sign it at all).  The RNC's F'ing insane if they think any self respecting candidate would hold themselves to guaranteeing their support for a convicted felon.

This level of bravery is rarely seen in politics today. Dude's practically a hero for laying his life on the line like this.

This is why Trump has become the perfect litmus test for sanity. Though I still question the motives of those who supported him while in office and only flipped when it became politically convenient to do so.

Only MAGA idiots can be stupid enough to pledge undying loyalty to the one man Biden can beat. It’s amazing.

It is mind-boggling. I just watched Tim Scott’s Town Hall video and I thought he did very well. My current favorite candidate.
