Stuff like the golden rule:  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

that’s what I mean by following the teaching of Jesus.  You can’t just make it up…

Yeah, and there are many other aspects. If someone asked what is the golden rule that would be it. If they asked what is the greatest commandment it's to love God. But if someone says what is a Christian that's not for me to say, especially on here. Again, many denominations would say another one isn't Christian because of how they follow Him, how obedient they are, or what scriptures they use. Each person can decide that for themselves. I'm not interested in getting into that. I never said make it up. I said up to each to decide for themselves.

Being a Christian is just following the teachings of Jesus.

Not much of a consensus on that I'm afraid.

I predict Trump lies the entire time and then you post tomorrow that Harris lost the debate.  I can set my watch to it.

How about we do a bet then?  You'll need some good odds as I've been 100% anti Trump now since late 2015.

You’re making it more complicated than it needs to be.  Not all Christians agree, not all Muslims agree, not all Buddhists agree.  But most religions have a few basic beliefs that are gonna be the same across every denomination or sect or whatever

I mean look at how many people are saying if you have an abortion you aren't a Christian or if you support Trump you aren't one either. It's not up to anyone to say what makes one. Yes, following Jesus is at the top, but it's not up for me to judge.

  he's gotta be difficult to debate. he'll lie for 2 minutes straight. there are too many lies to call out in your allotted response time.

You’re on hotshot

Look Dave if you want a simple answer it's following Jesus. But read my reply to Doc. It's not simple anymore. I have my opinion but I'm not here to judge or tell others what that means.

Trump has never asked God for forgiveness and never gone to confession.

He has never uttered the saying, Forgive me father for I have sinned. Ever.

How Christian is that?

The greatest economy in history, lowest gas prices ever, every black person was employed, etc

She'll have plenty of material to goad him with

yep...a nonstop barrage of lies. impossible to refute all of them.

and i wonder if he brings up the immigrants eating pets thing.  there's gotta be a prop bet for that.

Real Christians donate money to those in need. They donate to charity.

Trump doesn't donate to charity. The only thing he does for those in need is give them paper towels.

100,000 Haitian immigrants are stealing people’s pets and eating them for dinner.

See, @Dave Moss

What a Christian is depends on the person

I'm not sure I am. Voting Dem in my state because the GOP is horrible and plan to leave it there since Trump will win here anyway. If it was in doubt I would vote for him no question.

i just don't see trump as being a conservative so there's no difference on that subject. i guess you split when it comes to the border/immigration & abortion?

Donald Trump: Promises vs. Reality

• Promised to cut the deficit but added $8 trillion to it.

• Promised to build a wall; completed only 458 miles out of 2,000, mostly repairs.

• Promised Mexico would pay for the wall; they didn’t.

• Promised a new healthcare plan; it never existed.

• Promised a middle-class tax cut; primarily cut taxes for the rich, leaving the middle class to bear the burden.

• Promised not to play golf; made 250 visits to his own golf clubs, costing taxpayers $150 million.

• Promised to increase economic growth by 4,5,6%; didn’t achieve 3% but once, President Biden did.

• Promised an infrastructure plan; had none, President Biden signed a massive one.

• Promised to hire "the best people”; fired 3/4 of them, then labeled them the worst.

• Promised to reduce prescription drug prices; didn’t happen, President Biden did.

• Promised to win the trade war with China; it cost about a quarter million jobs and $36 Billion to bailout Farmers

• Promised corporate tax cuts would benefit workers; corporations used the money to buy back stocks instead.

• Promised to revive the coal industry; more coal jobs were lost during his presidency.

• Promised to drain the swamp; He was the swamp, January 6th insurrection and his Fake Electors conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election proves it.

What a Christian is depends on the person

so, the strength of shared values has no meaning or the values aren't strong enough to instill consistent practices in people. Not really a benchmark for a quality belief system. How people feel about pizza depends on the person.

Nobody is perfect. Most are just trying their best, and while I have my own beliefs, they are my beliefs. That doesn't mean I'm a "do whatever" person, as some suggested. It's a I'm not here to tell people how to live their lives and I don't want to get into debates with what comes next. After the obvious answer to what makes someone a Christian people love to then follow that up with what a follower would or wouldn't do and essentially throw people at Jesus's feet for Him to stone them as being "fake" Christians. Not interested.

Lol goes a lot deeper than that, so no I didn't. Some believe you are saved by works others by faith. There are many denominations that don't view others as Christians. So you can laugh, but I didn't flub anything. It's not for me to say what makes a Christian a Christian.

I actually respect this answer. One of my biggest issues with Christians, are the ones who claim those that don’t agree with them, are not real Christians.

I love how you try to play it safe a day after saying Democrats ignore all of the commandments.
